Video flashback: Defender of the common man on baking cookies

Rescued from the memory hole and uploaded to YouTube this weekend by an Obama fan eager to remind us that Barry O ain’t the only snob left in this race. No worries, pal; we haven’t forgotten. The Messiah was but a budding elitist of 30 when she paid this immortal tribute to America’s stay-at-home moms, then just as predictably tried to undo it by pandering. How much pandering? Dude.

As an angry man once said, “They are who we thought they were.”

Halp Save Us Obama From our Clinging to Religions, guns and Antipathy!

HEAL!!

Is it just me, or was her voice not nearly as shrill and irritating back then? (Which isn’t to say that it wasn’t shrill and irritating, just way less than it is now.) What the hell’s she been doing all these years, gargling broken glass? Or just screaming at Bill?

ReubenJCogburn on April 15, 2008 at 7:19 PM

Just as irritating as ever. I think the background noise and the microphone sort of softened and muffled. Turn your speakers up a tad and listen. On second thought don’t do that.

Oldnuke on April 15, 2008 at 7:23 PM

Man I love re-runs. We get to relive the sweet hair and purple trench coat look. Those were the good old days. Now we get to see Mao in Drag. Is the election over yet?

Cold Steel on April 15, 2008 at 7:25 PM

Whoa she was sort of hot. Hey, was that out loud?

screaming at Bill..

(I will take heat for this but “old ladies”, to me seem to have that shrill type of voice not usually as bad as Hillary’s but similar, my mom’s voice can be “piercing and annoying”, not as bad as Hillary’s but if she gets to yelling its pretty close.. )

“Hillary Clinton’s Chocolate Chip Cookies”

That recipe can’t be right–there’s no mention of poison at all in there.

ReubenJCogburn on April 15, 2008 at 7:34 PM

Hey…Obama…maybe Hillary had the audacity to CHANGE her attitude. *snicker*

Never go to class reunions. Trust me on this one.

She looked better in those days than Obama does now

Did I just say that?

entagor on April 15, 2008 at 7:51 PM

The years have not been kind to her.

Dude, you’re not the only one, because as much as I hate to admit it, I kinda of thought the same thing myself.

JFS61 on April 15, 2008 at 8:12 PM

Ditto that, I see a little bit of a babe there that I didn’t see then.

Hummer53 on April 15, 2008 at 8:18 PM

Whats missing is the Rush Limbaugh parity of
Hillary about making cookies, and she can’t remember
or can’t recall because her brain was full of jello!

Whats missing is the background music from Rush’s parity,
it might be from Paul Shanklin’s work, not sure!haha.

Poor Hillary–she used to be a very attractive woman. Tsk, tsk…

robblefarian on April 15, 2008 at 8:38 PM

Hillary’s favorite cookie, 2008 version: Cackle Doodles.

inviolet on April 15, 2008 at 8:47 PM

Hey! Let’s all go get a shot of whiskey and a beer! We can have that shrill voice too! (what a tool-ette!)

Vntnrse on April 15, 2008 at 8:55 PM

Every single time I see that video, it makes my blood boil.

Rosie “U R who U R”.

Entelechy on April 15, 2008 at 9:39 PM

Not only could she not bake cookies but she wouldn’t know where the kitchen was. Being married to BJ would age any one.

The Obamas have accomplished something I long considered an impossibility: they make the Clintons seem likable by comparrison.

This old news cookie crap? I haven’t forgotten, I just don’t give a crap about it for the time being. Is it worse than, say, ANYTHING that comes out of the mouth of Barry or Mickey?

Puh-lease…it’s like whining about the papercut on your finger while ignoring a punctured aorta.

SuperCool on April 15, 2008 at 9:49 PM

When I go into a bar and ask for a Hillary (shot and a beer), will they know what I’m talking about?

cjs1943 on April 15, 2008 at 9:54 PM

F#@K COOKIES, you CRUMB bum!!!!

Yep, the Obamassiah does work in mysterious ways.

But really, I’m a housewife, and this comment just never bothered me at all. She chose the working wife/mother path. I chose the other path. But I’m grateful that I had the choice, and that I didn’t grow up in the era where it would have been white gloves and baking cookies whether I wanted it or not.

And a weird thing about being either the stay at home mother or working mother…we always feel like we’re being judged for the choice we made, or always worry that we’re being judged for it. It may just be a chick thing.

She still had kind of a fake/adopted southern twang at that point from living in Arkansas. It made her sound much nicer.

D0WNT0WN on April 16, 2008 at 2:21 AM

I guess her idea of supporting children was promoting a system for abortion that claims over forty million lives, while her and her husband jailed peaceful protesters that saw this method of birth control as murder.

Great lady that Hillary.

Hening on April 16, 2008 at 8:13 AM

Should have stayed home baked cookies and stayed out of politics.

MSGTAS on April 16, 2008 at 10:27 AM

I watched that from another angle on local Chicago TV. Directly behind Hillary seated in a booth was Ed Eisendrath, an up and coming Chicago pol who when he heard her make the cookie comment hung his head. It was hilarious because everyone seemed to know that was a dumb comment to make except for Hillary.

Bill C on April 16, 2008 at 11:56 AM

How many hair styles was that ago?
