Question asked — why does McCain lay off on Obama?
Answer is: if Clinton takes the nomination, a certain segment of Dem voters is just going to stay home — UNLESS McCain is on record as hammering Obama then they will show up to vote against McCain. So by not hitting Obama now — he is enabling his win against Clinton in November.
Now if Obama takes the nomination — then McCain can take the gloves off as he will have nothing to lose.

And no, Hillary has nothing to fear from MADD. She probably hasn’t driven a car in decades. That would be a question I would like some enterprising person to ask her. Peter Doocy, perhaps?

“Sen. Clinton, when was the last time you drove a car?” Or, “When was the last time you bought groceries? Pumped gas? Cooked? Did laundry, picked up the mail?” Etc.. etc. etc.
