“In a democracy, I realize you don’t need to talk to the top leader to know how the country feels. When I go to a dictatorship, I only have to talk to one person and that’s the dictator, because he speaks for all the people.”

It’s probably the same reason the press favors government solutions to every problem. Easier to pin the blame on a few or to investigate a small group of people; than it is to find the real root of a problem.

The comments above are pretty terse most likely because everyone who reads the link is thinking “wha…?”
Words cannot properly convey the sheer ineptitude, idiocy, inaneness (pick your favorite “i” word) of this ass.
I am glad I was not old enough to vote in 1976 - this is not my fault!!!

You should really go back to comparing the Baptists to the Muslims who oppress women, so you can hang out with Christiane Amanpour. Put on the cardigan, sit by the fire - you know the drill.

sondiehl on April 15, 2008 at 11:22 PM
It makes sense.
If you ask people in a dictatorship about their country, they will not tell you the truth because they are afraid of the dictator.
If you ask the dictator about his country he will tell Jimmy Carter the truth because he doesn’t give a damn about who this old smelly turd Carter is.
And if Jimmy Boy Carter objects (which he’ll never do), the dictator -hopefully- will cut Jimmy Carter’s throat.
In fact, let Jimmy Boy carter meet dictators.
It might good for America.
Who knows? Maybe one of them mass-murders would like to taste Jimmy Boy Carter’s blood.

Yeah, Nazi Germany would’ve been a nice simple trip for Jimmy Carter. Ask the Führer his opinion, get his final answer, and then pick up some cuckoo clocks and some great bargain “estate sale” items on your way home.

Rush Limbaugh speculated yesterday that Jimmuh suffers still from Stockholm Syndrome, due to what happened in his last years in office, he was virtually held hostage too by the Iranian militants, and now identifies with them.
I really think Rush might have a point!

He hasn’t gone senile…unless it happened at the age of 30. He’s the same old marxist a**hole he’s always been, just freed from the need to pretend otherwise. In some ways, we are living in the age of ‘Jimmy Carter’. He encapsulates everything wrong in this country and the world.
AUINSC on April 15, 2008 at 11:41 PM

Hopefully after he is dead the study of Jimmy Carter’s brain will help doctors learn to diagnose and treat Carter Syndrome. If this devastating brain-wasting disease is caught early enough in its destructive progression perhaps aggressive treatment will allow its victims to lead healthy productive lives to the fullest extent possible. Jimmy Carter is an unfortunate victim, and while he may have been a dismal failure in life because of this terrible disease, in death he may finally achieve something notably positive to the service of humanity.
It’s something we can all look forward to.
FloatingRock on April 15, 2008 at 11:50 PM
Mrs. Carter still looks bitter for them having been catapulted out by 44 states, for good reasons.

Splashman on April 16, 2008 at 12:11 AM
I’ve seen too many liberals butcher a quote, so I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. I assumed Carter just tripped over his tongue, and he really just meant to say that a dictator has all the power. But - as appalling as the words sound by themselves - if you look at the CONTEXT here, Carter’s intent is even WORSE than the quote standing alone.
Carter was asked how he felt about the fact that practically all of Israel’s elected officials hate his guts. And his answer was basically: That’s fine - as long as dictators [and terrorists] like me.
I know we make fun of Jimmy Carter for being a doddering, power-clutching old imbecile. But, with all due respect, this man is also horrifically twisted and perverse.
I am ashamed that this man served a term as President of the United States. But that’s still not enough to make me give up on the entire concept of democracy: in the late 1970’s, Jimmy Carter was a perfect reflection of the condition he coined: “America’s malaise.”
logis on April 16, 2008 at 12:12 AM
(That’s true of Jimmuh, as well.)
Splashman on April 16, 2008 at 12:12 AM
The dictator does not speak for all the people. The dictator speaks for him/herself. Anyone wanting to speak differently will be imprisoned or killed.
If you disagree with this, off to the rock pile with you. In twenty years, if you are still alive, you can rejoice in seeing your family again.

Can’t we exile this goddamned moron, on the basis of utterly frightening cretinous stupidity?
MadisonConservative on April 16, 2008 at 12:30 AM
Normally, I’d agree. But consider how much misery and death Jimmy Carter and his cluelessness and hubris are responsible for. He didn’t start the Islamists’ War Against Us, but he gave them their own country, complete with vast oil reserves. He made us look weak, and actually be weak, in the eyes of the world. I give a crap if the world likes or respects us, but thinking we’re weak is an entirely different animal.
He also managed to beat our country down as much as possible. Stagflation, trying to convince us and inure us to the fact that we’re just one more mediocre agglomeration of people.
And that’s just when he was the Worst President in Modern Times (and I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt). He’s actually managed to top himself since he became ex-President.
Undercutting our foreign policy, beating down our allies, propping up our enemies… If he hated America in his heart, how would he act any differently?
I have a very negative visceral reaction to Jimmah. And it seems to be getting worse over time.
Not that I want anything bad to happen to him.
misterpeasea on April 16, 2008 at 12:32 AM

He’s like the crazy old uncle who just won’t stop showing up at family reunions…….
Except that he’s a cretinous treasonous morally bankrupt cowardly charlatan, who’s negative impact on America will be felt for decades to come.
If this makes me a horrible person, then so be it. If it makes me no better than the scumbags at Huffpo, so be it.
But I will raise a toast on the day this man is finally gone forever.
Hawkins1701 on April 16, 2008 at 12:51 AM
The sooner research begins; the greater the number of victims that might be spared—and that’s in addition to the more immediate benefit to civilization as a whole.
FloatingRock on April 16, 2008 at 1:04 AM
That sounds good. I say we take his temperature and if it is less than 100 degrees we just make a presumptive diagnosis that he is deceased or soon will be and begin post haste.
Sigy on April 16, 2008 at 1:14 AM
I think it would be best to begin with a CT scan to take detailed cross sections of his brain. I fear that when they open his cranium to extract it physically it will ooze out into a puddle on the table.

44 states! Talk about national repudiation! (And I was only seven then!)
He has probably convinced himself, in order to cope with such a massive humiliation, that he was the ruler of the wrong country, so he had to make up for it ever since.
He probably is mumbling about how easy Robert Mugabe and Kim Jong Il have had it for all of those years.

He pulled an Obama, or a Kinsley II; he said what he believed.
America should be embarrassed that we elected him. And we should continue to be embarrassed that we continue to elect people like him.
misterpeasea on April 16, 2008 at 2:53 AM
I was talkin’ about Carter’s charity, Hawkins.
His main goal in talking to Hamas is to win the freedom of Gilad Shalit.
A fact that seems to have been missed by certain news outlets…I’m sure he forgives them.
That’s the kind of guy he is.

Jimmy Carter: Emissary of Evil
“Jimmy Carter is an evil man. It is painful to label a past president of the United States as a force for darkness. But it is dangerous to let a man like Jimmy Carter stalk around the globe cloaked in the garb of American royalty, planting the seeds of Western civilization’s destruction.” Ben Shapiro

It’s long past time that the Carter children have a little intervention with Dad. But instead of “Dad, we can’t let you drive any more. We’ll need your keys” it’s “Dad, no more international diplomacy. We’re taking your passport.” Honestly, the man has become unbalanced. John, Chip, Don, Amy - time for action.

Even Howard Dean must be groping to figure out a way to keep this man away from a microphone during the DNC convention. As bad as his love of dictators and anti-Semitism was in 2004, it’s gotten worse in the past four years, and no matter who the nominee is, the Democrats face a 50-50 prospect of Jimmy saying or doing something in Denver that will totally step on Hillary or Obama’s post-convention talking points.
