Moral exemplar lays wreath at Arafat’s grave; Update: Carter hugs Hamas official

Via Israel Matzav. A painful concession forced upon him by the Palestinian leadership as a condition for meeting with them? Unlikely. He’s doing them a favor by visiting, not vice versa. He probably did it because he sincerely wanted to pay his respects to the modern Middle East’s original archterrorist. And, of course, because George Bush conspicuously refused to stoop to this when he visited Ramallah. Keep fighting the real enemy, Jimbo.

cw1.jpg

cw2.jpg

Update: Today’s his first meeting with Hamas, by the way. Not the last. That’ll come Friday when he meets with Meshaal in Damascus.

Update: Brothers in arms.

At a reception in the West Bank town of Ramallah organized by Carter’s office, the former president hugged Nasser Shaer, a senior Hamas politician, meeting participants said. Embraces between men are a common custom in Arab culture.

“He gave me a hug. We hugged each other, and it was a warm reception,” Shaer told The Associated Press. “Carter asked what he can do to achieve peace between the Palestinians and Israel … and I told him the possibility for peace is high.”

Turns out Billy was the smart Carter.

Mr Carter should be a test subject for prolonged stockholm syndrome.

moxie_neanderthal on April 15, 2008 at 9:15 AM

This is horrendous.

Is there any way we can impeach an ex-President?

How about stripping him of his citizenship?

Or at least we could stick him in a row boat and send him out to sea.

Jimmy Carter is a morally and intellectually bankrupt gelded cretin.

I’m glad Jimmah and Roselyn (and Ted Kennedy for that matter) are living to such a ripe old age. Had they passed earlier, there wouldn’t have been the opportunity to see them both disgraced, exposed, and ridiculed, and their legacy might have become distorted.

God works in mysterious ways. Keep it up Carters.

I am here renewing my invitation to Jimmy Boy to come to Florida and rest in peace here among his old fart buddies.

But I have a request before he comes to Florida, will somebody check his finances to see where the money is coming from?

I’m 100% sure that he is funded by Muslim terrorists.

If that’s the case, I’ll waiver my invitation and will be glad if the U.S. government ship him to GITMO, maybe he can do some charity work among his brethren and convert them to a more radical form of Islam.

Only a few months, Carter used the word “despicable” to describe Israel. Carter actually said that bringing “peace for Israel” has been the cause of his life. He actually said that. Of course, that does not square with his appearance on Larry King a few months back when Carter dismissed critics of Carter’s Mideast policy as being “supporters of Israel”. Carter tends to make remarks that show his real feeling when he feels unguarded like his written statement that Hamas should not give up suicide bombings until Israel returns to the pre1967 borders. That is the measure of this petty, crazed man.

Larraby on April 15, 2008 at 9:56 AM

Carter has undermined any chance of redemption. Time is indeed a salve and the tincture of time even redeemed (in some small way) President Nixon’s legacy.

If Carter had simply wandered off into the wilderness and maintained his carpenter gig, he would have gone down in the books as a woefully inept president but a good-hearted and well meaning man.

I think we’re getting a double feature with the deconstruction of both Billy Jeff and Jimmy’s twin legacies.

I must admit that I’d prefer to see Hillary get the nomination if for no other reason than be entertained by the disclosure of what Billy has been up to all these yearsAs demonstrated by Mr Spitzer’s unfortunate turn of events, prostitution does indeed pay well and it would be enthralling to see what acts Mr Clinton had to perform for such a payday.

moxie_neanderthal on April 15, 2008 at 9:58 AM

What Carter has done is reprehensible. In honoring a terrorist and an organization that sponsors terrorism is an act that is beneath contempt. For an ex-president to do such is traitorous to the United States. Carter’s actions send the wrong message not only to our allies but to those who participate actively in terrorist acts or sponsor them.
In essence he is spitting on the graves of all the sevicemembers and civilians who have been killed from the first victim to the last casualty in the war on terror. For this reason I urge everyone to contact their senator and congressperson to support bringing charges of sedition and treason against Carter. In doing so a clear message would be sent, the people of the United States do not support terrorism or terrorist or those who support such organizations. To simply censure him is not enough, the man is a traitor to his country.

Like “a capella” and “AZ Coyote” I too lived thru the Carter Administration, though as a teen not an adult. And it was as indicated above, even worse - long gas lines, worldwide humiliation, inflation. My dad was a small business owner and it was his worst time in business, ever. Actually allowed me to qualify for student loans for college that my dad’s “normal” income would have never allowed.

So thanx Jimmah - for sucking so bad as President that I got student loans to go to college. Hey at least it’s something Jimmah can be proud of for 4 years of suckage.

He’s an ass - he was 30+ years ago and he still is. I’m surprised the State Department let him go. Oh yeah, and that wreath of flowers saying “President and Mrs. Carter”. At the very least is should say FORMER President…I’d like to vote for ex-President and ex-American.

History News Network’s poll of 109 historians found that 61 percent of them rank Bush as “worst ever” among U.S. presidents. Bush’s key competition comes from Buchanan, apparently, and a further 2 percent of the sample puts Bush right behind Buchanan as runner-up for “worst ever.” 96 percent of the respondents place the Bush presidency in the bottom tier of American presidencies.

The comments section here aren’t really a good predictor of how history will view Carter and ‘lil Bush, JiangxiDad.

Rickz, 98% of Iranians voted for their current form of government in an election at least as transparent as the one that put Maliki in power.

The idea that Carter could have done something about it is rather laughable.

Reagan’s supplying arms and money to Osama and the Taliban (and Iran and Hezbollah, btw) have more to do with the start of our current problems than anything Carter did.

Reagan made up for it by pulling our troops outta Lebanon instead of getting us mired in a quagmire, though…

Uh, you do realize that 25 years later Lebanon is STILL a mess? That Iran, through Syria, is in charge of large portions of that country and directly threaten Israel? That Hezbolah was started by IRANIANs? That a lot of the Jihadist belief that America could not stand tough was perpetuated by that decision?

And as one who was there at the time… Reagan REALLY pissed us off? He would not LET us go after the guys who did it… would not LET us wage war? Why? I’m still not sure…

But it was one of Reagen’s worst moments…

Thank You Jimmy, now Hillary and Obama will have to disown you or lose the Jewish vote. In fact the Democrat Party will have to disown you to save their Jewish support. Simply put your a liability not an asset to the party any more.

Censure by Congress? What will become of the man without a party?

Oh, and about Roslyn using the Air Force to fly 50 loaves of french bread from Ghiradelli square in SF to DC for her parties. I remember that too. Passed em off to the SPs myself. That is after sending the Army down to shop em and haul them off to Travis AFB for their C141 trip. Once? Twice? How about monthly. A real Joe. While I was waiting 3 hours for my 5 gallons Jimmah as making do with his garlic toast.

I hadn’t heard about that one. Sounds about like Hillary using military officers as WH waiters. Remember his weekly fireside chat routine with the cardigan sweater and rocking chair? A moralizing do-gooder. What a dick. This is bringing it all back, and not in a good way.
