Condi: “I do not want to be, don’t intend to be, won’t be on [the] ticket”

Sounds like a Sherman statement to me. Thus dies the Democratic dream of saddling McCain with Bush’s baggage personified. Hey, has anyone asked Rumsfeld if he’s interested?

“I do not want to be, don’t intend to be, won’t be on [McCain's] ticket,” she told the Associated Press in an interview in Alabama today where she received an honorary degree from Air University at Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base.

“It’s time for me to do something else,” she added, saying she would return to Stanford University after the Bush administration leaves office next January.

Rice praised Sen. McCain, of Arizonia, as “an amazing man” with “great intellect” but said the last time she spoke with him was last month after his passport file had been breached…

“We’ll see in a few year’s what I do. But I — this is not the time for me,” she told the AP.

There were at least two sources, one of them named, claiming that she was campaigning to be VP and Grover Norquist all but nominated her for the position. Anyone think this splash of cold water isn’t the result of someone from Team Maverick pulling her aside to tell her to save her breath?

Can you be W’s National Security Adviser and Secretary of State during “the worst presidency in American history” and be “just another neo-con” and be a black female republican and then go teach at Stanford? Won’t she have protesters at her door every single day of the school year?

I dunno who was pulling her strings to make some of the very bold and extremely asinine diplomacy moves she has led, but she needs to get out from under the cloud created.

I don’t think Condi is so dumb, she has to be better than Madeline Notsobright, but she needs time and space from the current debacle to reassert credibility.

That assumes she can. She may be drinking the same whisky as GWB, at times.

I remember something from the beginning of the Israel-Lebanon unpleasantness where she made a public statement and Pres. Bush had to get out and counter it. I think John Negroponte was sent over to clean up the DoS around that time too.

That’s her writing. She has a way of putting pen to paper, agreed.

Cold Steel on April 15, 2008 at 12:06 AM

Did you know we should alter the Constitution in order to line up with the word of God? The good Rev. Huck told me that.

Now you’re talking.

Oh wait…are you being sarcastic?

Don’t tell me you’re one of the people who still think secularism is good for our society? Ba ha ha ha ha!

Ban abortions, ban gay marriage and stop teaching the non scientific state religion of evolution/secular humanism and I guarantee you will see America become a righteous nation again.

You will see the rate of crime, murder, homelessness, prostitution, rape and child rape drop drastically within a few years.

SaintOlaf on April 15, 2008 at 12:07 AM

That’s more like it.

SaintOlaf on April 14, 2008 at 11:59 PM

I don’t want Romney either. I wish McC had the balls to pick Michael Steele for VP. Now there’s an outstanding first black President.

techno_barbarian on April 15, 2008 at 12:08 AM

Condi is not even qualified to deliver proper McDonald’s french fries, and they actually suck in general.

Well, there can be no question you’re a Huck supporter. The tax raising, nanny-stating, illegal alien-rewarding, soft-on-crime, flip-flopping factors? No concern; He’s a Christian who wants to take our nation’s supreme law and place it in line with the Bible.

And you’re going to decide who’s an authentic conservative?

amerpundit on April 15, 2008 at 12:11 AM

SaintOlaf on April 15, 2008 at 12:07 AM

Religious intolerance is as debilitating. Writing one religion into government at the expense of others crushes the inspired principles of our founding fathers. America can only truly be righteous as individuals apply personal responsibility and draw nearer in their personal relationship with Christ. It is not government’s responsibility to outline those issues for us. Forcing other’s to your beliefs is un-Christian. Loving your fellow man does not include forcing him into your belief system.

People like you are the reason I haven’t been to a church in years. Those that are supposed to be so ‘righteous’ are anything but.

I do not want your beliefs to trample on my freedoms. Do. Not. Want.

techno_barbarian on April 15, 2008 at 12:14 AM

But haven’t you heard? That’s true conservatism. Unless you want people shoving their interpretation of a religion into your life and government, you can’t truly be conservative.

amerpundit on April 15, 2008 at 12:16 AM

And you’re going to decide who’s an authentic conservative?

Sadly (for he/she) that decision has already been made, no critical thought required.

planning on having a gay marriage and an abortion are you?

Or compassionate, you-right-winged serpent. Get a heart, hug a tree, and listen to my sermons!

Cold Steel on April 15, 2008 at 12:18 AM

Nominating Condi would be political suicide. I only hope that Condi wasn’t stirring the pot on that rumor simply out of the hope that she has the political skills to recognize she would be poison to McCain. I hope she does one day run for national office–she would be a formidable candidate. But only a plotical moron would not see that Condi would be too much baggage from this administration. For good or bad, McCain needs to distance himself from Bush to win. Note, I do not suggest McCain should make Bush a pariah–he just needs to point out to the voters how he’s different. Condi makes that differentiation process impossible.

Soothsaying again St. O? You are a witch at this. The man does two posts and you have him doing two incongruent things. Hot man love and immaculate male conception. You are over the top.

So if you don’t want people shoving religion down your throat, you must be planning to get an abortion or have a gay marriage?
