I like the way you phrased that statement.

Again, blacks have always voted for whites. We have no problem doing so. The majority of blacks have voted for a majority of white candidates throughout their lives.

It strikes me as duplicitous to question our vote just because there is a black candidate running. I never heard a similar argument on behalf of whites voting for whites. The first black candidate to run undoubtedly faced multitudes of white voters who just would not vote for a black man or woman.

I agree that there it is wholly unconstructive to embrace the past so tightly that one cannot embrace the future. But I don’t think correctly pointing out contemporary racism or problems precludes one’s ability to acknowledge the immense progress made.

Being observant and open about what one sees is not the same as whining about everything in front of one’s face.

I just don’t understand why people allow their deep rooted partisanship cloud the truth.

Geez. How about some honesty.

This reminds me of the cops and firemen in NYC. Rudy did nothing for them money wise but they loved him. Bloomberg comes in, give them a raise and they don’t like him because he’s too rich and doesn’t know how to talk to them the way they want to be talked to.

You’re in violation of the law, (1) by owning a gun, and (2) not having “permission” by the state.

“Permission” already granted by the 2nd Amendment.

So, the question is: What happens, if you refuse to obtain a license?

The obvious answer is, you’re in violation of the law, by owning a gun.

So, whenever she tries to come across as a gun advocate, you KNOW she’s full o’shit.

Blacks died for the right to vote for generation after generation of white candidates. Blacks have voted for whites with no problem generation after generation. Now, all of sudden, our vote is suspect. Whatev.

Whites have voted for blacks for generation after generation, also. Maybe not for President, but that wasn’t because of skin color. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton? And Cynthia McKinney? The problem is not the color of their skin, but the content of their character. The blacks voting for a black guy is not suspect; it’s completely understandable and expected. Voting for a black guy because he is black, (i.e., for the color of his skin, not the content of his character) though, is pretty clearly racist.

I don’t personally think race is a valid consideration for my President. But, I wonder what percentage of whites would be voting for a white candidate were the tables turned. I don’t think that being racist is determined by race. So, are blacks more racist than whites? Has it always been this way?

I wonder also. No I don’t, I’m guessing it’d be the same. I agree, being racist is not a characteristic of any particular race. Don’t know if blacks are more racist than whites, but it seems that more blacks are racist than whites are racist. Again, completely understandable.

How many generations of blacks have passed wherein every family member was afforded full citizenship rights and a fair chance in society? How long has it been since you would say that things were fair for blacks? In what year did this transformation happen?

Not many. Life is not fair for anyone, nor will it ever be, but I agree with your point that blacks have had the short end of the stick for a very long time. I think things would be a lot “fairer”, that is, blacks as a whole would be doing a lot better if they would get over the past, and quit embracing poisonous folks like the Rev. J. Wright. And yes, I know it’s easier said than done. But what would be the best for blacks? Holding on to (again, completely understandably) resentment and bitterness, and rejecting “white culture,” or moving on and integrating as fast as possible?

I understand that it sucks, and that life isn’t fair, but what is the fastest way forward?

I don’t begrudge BJ and Hill their $109 million. What makes me mad is their sheer hypocrisy about money, and eeevil rich people. Wanting to raise taxes on income to prevent more people from getting rich. Yammering about the profits of the eeevil oil companies, who work harder for those profits and do more for America than the Clintons will ever do.

What makes me mad is liberals and Democrats excusing this kind of behavior. The kind of behavior that doesn’t bother me, but is anathema to them.

Honestly, I think she’d be a better president than Obama. I fear he’s an unreconstructed leftist. At least Hill/Bill have been around the block, and know they can get into a heap of trouble with the voters.

Obama has always lived in a bubble, politically. How many conservatives did he run into at Harvard (few) How many non-leftists are there in Hyde Park? (probably zero). How many conservatives did he have to bargin with in Illinois Senate (probably zero).
