Video: Shameless liar smeared by racial demagogues
posted at 2:08 pm on April 11, 2008 by Allahpundit
The title says it all; it’s the Democratic primary in a nutshell. A quick tour of RedLasso reveals that the “Morning Joe” crew ran this soundbite no fewer than three times in the span of three hours, including once for Obama strategist David Axelrod when he appeared on the show, with Scarborough and company naturally insisting all the while that they personally didn’t find anything suspect about it. If it’s unclear to you on first view what the issue is here, let DU be your guide: Clinton was discussing Obama’s misleading ad about oil companies, he reached for an analogy to illustrate its absurdity, and presto changeo — racism. Or at least, racism to the enlightened progressive who hears a reference to “stealing cars” and apparently automatically thinks of black people.
If this M.O. sounds familiar, it should. And to think, Ed Rendell and Lanny Davis accuse MSNBC of being in the tank for Obama. Lest I be accused of being in the tank for Her Majesty, though, read this update to BJ’s shameless Tuzla lie from last night and see how gracefully he’s handling the fallout. Exit quotation: “I regret that people like you care more about that when whether she served the troops.” Boo hoo.

Hillary,…never give up. Take this thing all the way through to the convention. To do otherwise is abandoning all those who have supported you with their faith, energy and money, in the hope you can be our CiC. Be strong and if there is something more about Obama we should know, tell us right before the PA primary.
Best regards

Could Chris Matthews be more in the tank for Obama. Do he even realize how he comes off. I realize MSNBC has taken their news to the left the marketing strategy is obvious, but sheesh, some people from the middle have to watch don’t they?

I couldn’t have put it better myself, which is generally the case when you write something but especially so here.
When I think of stealing cars, I don’t go straight to minorities. That’s not a crime I think of in terms of race.

It’s the “enlightened progressives” who are the most racist. Blacks, to them, need to be lorded over, for their own good. The “enlightened progressives” pat them on the head, tell them that they know what’s best for them and ask them to run along – and try to stay out of trouble.

You have got to be kidding me. They hear “stealing cars” and automatically assume he’s referencing black people? And we’re the racists?
First thing that came to my mind is that he’s saying, stealing cars is illegal, too. Not stealing them isn’t a a benefit, it’s just not illegal. What do our moral betters think on the left? African-Americans.
amerpundit on April 11, 2008 at 2:31 PM
Guess the link was old news. Must have missed it. Sorry. Ignore.
Connie on April 11, 2008 at 2:34 PM
He was talking about a black person, though. Normally, I’d see your point when someone does this, but in this case he is referring to Obama, obviously.
lorien1973 on April 11, 2008 at 2:37 PM
But there’s the assumption that he’s not referring to the fact that both are illegal, but rather that he’s referring to a stereotype of black people. They automatically assume it’s a racist remark, rather than understanding his whole reference was that not committing illegal activities isn’t a plus.
amerpundit on April 11, 2008 at 2:40 PM
Sure.
There are plenty of other appendages that his thrill that has yet to come up from yet.
wise_man on April 11, 2008 at 2:42 PM
Of course he’s referring to Obama, but he’s not equating stealing cars with black people in general. That’s what the “progressives” are doing.
Esthier on April 11, 2008 at 2:42 PM
Whichever Democrat Presidential candidate is doing worse at the time is the one who I think would be a better President (if god forbid we had to again endure such a thing).
I’m starting to think that Obama’s close association with race baiters, race haters, communists, fishwives, lunatic preachers and two-bit terrorists is not the kind of guy I want in the White House.
Because Hillary looks like she’s going to blow the nomination.
But if she starts coming back, I keep thinking – do I want four to eight more years of the Clinton Crime Family?
Neither Clinton nor Obama are even close to being acceptable candidates for the Presidency. I would rather have an Irish Setter in the Oval Office than either of these two.
NoDonkey on April 11, 2008 at 2:45 PM
Remember though, you are supposed to concentrate on the fact that Hillary served the troops well.
In 2004 the discussion was whether or not a candidate had seen combat, especially important while the country is at war.
I guess combat status isn’t important anymore. Hmmm…
Bishop on April 11, 2008 at 2:45 PM
Yes, I get that. This one really skirts the outerlimits, though. He is referring to a black person here doing an illegal activity – in each instance.
Normally this sort of case is made when you say “I think we should eliminate welfare benefits” the other person claims “you are racist for wanting to deny black people money.” but you say “more white people are on welfare. And that you assume otherwise, really reflects your own racism about the issue”
I’m not sure why Bill even went here, he had to know what was going to come of it. And the fact that people immediately went for the racism angle, will help McCain in the general. Everyone crying racism now, will make the charge worthless in a few months.
lorien1973 on April 11, 2008 at 2:46 PM
Well, um…
I watched it a couple times, and I missed the part where the MSNBC shills said anything about race. I don’t like Matthews and I seldom find myself in agreement with him, but in this case all I heard him saying was that Slick Willy’s got an act, and his act is getting old.
That’s not something I’m real inclined to disagree with.
Typhoon on April 11, 2008 at 2:47 PM
Bill is clearly calculating here, trying to get white people to peel away from Obama. The constant cries of racism wear very thin and he knows it. The more people yelling racism at every turn will turn people off to Obama.
lorien1973 on April 11, 2008 at 2:48 PM
I would rather have an Irish Setter in the Oval Office than either of these two.

To be fair to Bill, he did have to steer pretty far away from insider trading, perjury, theft/destruction of evidence, contempt of court, misappropriation of government resources, and sexual assault. What’s left but grand theft auto?

Hillary or Wolfson or Maggie Williams – one of them has got to rein Bill in. He gets wackier with each speech.
Next, they’ll be spreading the word that he’s overtired, sleep-

@ Gateway Pundit: “Bill Clinton happened to be driving by Hillary’s Campaign headquarters in Terre Haute, Indiana today. He decided to stop after he noticed the building was burning down.”
While Bill’s in town, two Hillary workers were inside late at night, but it took a volunteer fire fighter coincidentally driving by to notice flames. Sorry, but this just looks like Clinton desparation for pity and attempted insurance scam to finance her campaign expenses.

I wonder if anyone will remind Bill Clinton, who constantly says how much he and his nominal wife love “the troops” about Bill’s letter to Colonel Holmes. This was the letter that Mr. Clinton wrote to Colonel Holmes after Clinton had used his cunning and fibbing to successfully avoid military service. Clinton wrote in the letter that he (Clinton) “loathed” the military. That letter should be read and reread by anybody even thinking of voting for a Clinton. The letter showed how even as a young man, Bill Clinton was totally selfabsorbed and selfish.

I wonder if Chris got a trembly down his leg hearing Bill speak.
Probably not. Breakups are often ugly and this too is running its sordid course. The media’s love affair with the Clintons has run its course. Their relationship is like an old married couple. The little idiosyncrocies that used to be so endearing are now sources of distain.
But Chris and the gang have moved on and have a new man in their lives. It must be difficult for Bill and Hillary to see the media dating the new guy and the feckless fawning that occurs over the new trophy canidate.
I imagine there are many late night looks into the Clinton’s mirror, pinching some flab, masaging the extra chin and wondering what the media sees in Obama.
