Rapid response: BBC revamps article on global warming to make activist happy
posted at 6:30 pm on April 11, 2008 by Allahpundit
Ace did the lifting on this so the link goes to him, but follow his link to the National Post and read the e-mail exchange for yourself. It took 76 minutes to transform a story about cooling temperatures casting doubt on global warming to global warming marching steadily onwards notwithstanding the recent blip in cooling temperatures. Fine by me; if the media wants to make its story angles a function of reader reaction, conservatives will happily play that game. When does that principle go into effect for its coverage of, say, Iraq?
Exit question: How’d this story get through? Al Gore had better e-mail the Chronicle, stat.

It’s really disgusting how the “global warming” people can just strong arm anybody they want. When will someone finally stand up to these people?
SoulGlo on April 11, 2008 at 6:44 PM
Holy Crap! Did he just roll over because she threatened to tell on him? What a Candy Ass! Also, has “Emerging Truth” replaced “Consensus”? WTF is an emerging truth? We’re wrong but we’re getting less wrong, so stop pointing out that we’re wrong or I’ll tell on you!!
Was that seriously two adults? I’d like to have this enetered as Exhibit no. 8,456,765 in the case proving Liberals are children, Your Honor.

These people make me puke….she’s got the stones to put this up on her blog site, to show everybody how easily she can smack down a BBC editor…but not him, boy…this guy needs to drop a pair himself.

As evidence by the fact that, er, temperatures haven’t risen since 1998. Damn those actual, you know, evidence-seeking skeptics!

Who is JO?
Glenn Beck did this story a couple days ago.
It is disgusting, and so …obama or gore like.

I have a dream, that one day, America will be guided by facts and the truth. Unfortunately, we are not there yet–thank you Al Gore and Michael Moore.

It would be a crime not to attach Glenn Beck’s take on this story.

If the sun doesn’t get with it soon, we are all going to be experiencing cooling like we have never seen in modern times. Al Gore will be very disappointed. The predictions are getting dire, a repeat of the 1800s Dalton minimum, maybe worse.
BTW: No one is talking about the crop problem, if the crops don’t make it into the field by about may 15, they won’t grow to full yield by harvest time. It takes about 3 weeks preparation time to get the fields ready for planting, they are now way to soggy for working … tick, tick, tick …
If you want to see how the ice age scare of the 70s went, here is a short video … Notice some of the names are the same, the tactics are the same, the hysteria is the same. It was just about ice, not warm. Funny, no?

One key that you can’t win a debate, is when you stifle debate.
The idea that this is TRUTH, and not a theory in her own words, says all I need to know.
Romeo13 on April 11, 2008 at 8:24 PM
isn’t that a tactic of fascism? the only time they like debates is when all the facts are convenient and agree with their cause? but anything inconvenient or possibly even disproving, ….cant have that. do what ever it takes to get those facts dismissed as false or unreliable.
by the way, anyone know if his claim:
.
i thought the ocean currents (thus temperatures too) played a major role along with the jet stream in both el nino and la nina. how do they play a role and yet not be affected by them? let’s not forget about the sun too. after all, sun activity fluctuates and influences everything here on God’s green Earth.
El Guapo on April 11, 2008 at 8:32 PM
After making the Medieval Warming Period disappear, doctoring the temperature records for the last decade is child’s play.
Everybody should read the correspondences at the end of the chain of links. Their audacity and arrogance are breathtaking. They know the TRUTH, and anyone who thinks differently needs to be squelched. Why are we quibbling about trivial details like integrity and speech rights when the fate of the planet is at stake?
They’re like Branch Davidians with government grants.

Excellent point. I just finished Liberal Fascism a month ago and from my understanding, this clearly falls into that category. Certainly, it is a statism and a totalitarianism–all for the good of the whole, to hell with the individual.

I was curious myself, so I tooled around her site a little. I think this says all you need to know about Jo. It comes from an attack she posted on her site against a writer’s article on biofuels.
Apparently, this is the kind of enlightened opinion she gained by becoming “sufficiently educated.”

There are many people, including hundreds of scientests, who do stand up to this but they are rarely allowed a market to speak.
Talk radio host ‘Jason Lewis‘ has been hammering global warming for well over a year and there are others who also speak of its falesy.
I have been begging for “proof” of man-made global warming for atleast 8 years, I have not found one piece of proof. However I have found much proof that climite change is normal (a normal temperature differantial of the planet) 1) a farming community under the greenland ice cap 2)false data used in a 30 temperature history used to prove the globe has never been this hot before. 3)50 and 100 thousand year graphs showing we have been this warm many times in the past.
Yes many people are standing up, the msm will not give them a voice.

The average journalist is graded by far-left teachers, hired by far-left editors, and has to fit in with a far-left staff.
They are driven by ideology, and don’t give a damn about facts.
They’re more afraid of not being invited to upper-crust cocktail parties in NY and LA and London than they are of being caught lying – there’s no penalty to the latter, but the former is a tragedy.
Your average journalist makes your average ambulance-chaser look decent, kind and noble by comparison.

Climate Change is largely a statist lever to use on western populations. The aim is to enhance state power by engendering guilt to gain legitimacy, raising revenue through thoroughly dishonest ‘green taxes’ to limit freedom of choice, and keeping a lid on birth rates to justify the importation of cheap labor.
State science research grants these days almost always come attached to a ‘climate change’ research obligation. Witness the frankly ludicrous stories that climate change causes terrorism. http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/climatechange/2007/09/first_climate_change_was_a.html
Climate Change is about controlling western populations not saving the planet – even if you do buy into the idea that CO2 is the devil and we are his apprentices for producing it.

Only 23 comments. Maybe Gore has peaked, along with global temperatures. Only McCain has the power to delay Gores descent back down the mountain. Will he be dumb enough to do it?
Can someone make a political cartoon with Gore, Obama, and the Clintons trudging down Mt. Everest.

Dang Chakra, that sure doesn’t look like global warming to me… doesn’t look like any kind of warming.
It’s been in the 80′s around here (love my shorts & tank tops) but we’ll be getting cold again next week (highs in the 60′s, lows in the 30′s). Of course, the flip-flopping weather is nothing unusual for us in N. FL – I remember 20 some odd years ago when I was in high school, going to the beach in February and having snow a few weeks later in March. Global warming/Global cooling – it’s all just part of planet Earth.
Have fun playing in your global warming.

Wussified editor submits to spanking from condescending twit.
whitetop on April 12, 2008 at 12:15 PM
What’s the problem?
I mean, after all, we’re sitting on our dead asses on election day….Aren’t we?
Given, that a non-vote for McCain is an intentional vote for Gore/Obama/Clinton.
What could possibly go wrong?
franksalterego on April 12, 2008 at 12:34 PM
Bingo. Well, we must add to that concept a bit; it is also about getting government funding for pseudo-scientists, who ignore scientific method, and embrace “consensus” – in fact, several scientists who would like to truly study the area are afraid to do so and publish their results, in fear of losing grant money, tenure, or both.
Time to face the fact that Global Whatever is merely a humanistic religion, based on mankind being their own Gods, intelligentsia control over resources, and true science be damned.

polite little twit
condescending? given that…
no, of course you don’t… best they not think such thoughts

yes, please… it makes our work oh so much harder when people know things we don’t want them to know.

This has got to be the funniest part of the whole exchange. The eco-nutter is psychologically manipulating the reporter but telling him he’s too stupid to know when he’s being psychologically manipulated.
That’s genius/evil!
