Unbelievable: Clinton lies shamelessly about Hillary’s shameless Tuzla lie; Update: More lies

posted at 7:58 pm on April 10, 2008 by Allahpundit

So shamelessly, in fact, that you’ll spot the lie immediately if you followed the story with any degree of closeness. This sort of thing simply has to be compulsive for him. In no rational world does it make sense to reintroduce this subject, lie about it, and lie about it so clumsily that the press would have to rub his face in it even if they didn’t want to. Which, thanks to Obamania, they do.

A lot of the way this whole campaign has been covered has amused me. But there was a lot of fulminating because Hillary, one time late at night when she was exhausted, misstated and immediately apologized for it, what happened to her in Bosnia in 1995. Did y’all see all that. Oh, they blew it up. Let me just tell you. The president of Bosnia and General Wesley Clark — who was there making peace where we’d lost three peacekeepers who had to ride on a dangerous mountain road because it was too dangerous to go the regular, safe way — both defended her because they pointed out that when her plane landed in Bosnia, she had to go up to the bulletproof part of the plane, in the front. Everybody else had to put their flack jackets underneath the seat in case they got shot at. And everywhere they went they were covered by Apache helicopters. So they just abbreviated the arrival ceremony. Now I say that because, what really has mattered is that even then she was interested in our troops. And I think she was the first first lady since Eleanor Roosevelt to go into a combat zone.

He’s wrong about that Eleanor Roosevelt bit, too, but never mind. HA readers already know the bold part is an egregious lie three times over. In fact, she opened a major speech on foreign policy on the 17th with the Tuzla story; the transcript is still posted on her website. That’s what kicked off the media feeding frenzy over it, a fact BJ surely must know. In which case, how do we explain this? Is lying genuinely compulsive for him? Or is Mike Pechar right in theorizing that he secretly wants her to lose? I’ve never seriously entertained that idea but I don’t know what to think anymore.

Oh, and she didn’t “immediately apologize,” either. But ABC deserves some traffic for this so follow the link up top for more on that.

Update: Jake Tapper went through his whole statement line by line. Two mistakes, one possible misinterpretation, and five — count ‘em, five — clear lies.

Clinton lies shamelessly

By now, I would hope that you’re not still typing that phrase manually each time. For cripes sake, program a shortcut key! There’s still three months left to the Dem convention.

Cicero43 on April 10, 2008 at 8:03 PM

I’m thinking it’s BJ being BJ. Dude is nothing if not compulsive. First cheeseburgers, then interns, now gravy training engagements with hostile entities. He is all about his legacy and I wouldn’t be surprised if his actions aren’t a two-pronged attack. If his lies help Hill, great. If they sink Hill, even better. He’s turned the term media whore into something truly ugly.

Cold Steel on April 10, 2008 at 8:04 PM

Just amazing.

davidk on April 10, 2008 at 8:05 PM

Before this is all over, to “Clinton” may become a verb, in the same way the Dems made “Bork” a verb.

Liberalism is a mental illness, for the true believers. Then there are the cynical manipulators, like the Clintons, who swindle these poor incompetents.

It’s sick.

misterpeasea on April 10, 2008 at 8:10 PM

WIth these recent threads on Carter and Clinton, is there any way we can renounce their ex-presidency and cut them off? Can we strike their names off the former presidents’ list? Is there some island we can exile them too? That’s one of the few things I wish we had from the military junta world.

Cold Steel on April 10, 2008 at 8:10 PM

Oh sure, Queen Hillary gets to ride in the bulletproof part of the plane. Chelsea and Sinbad have to sit on a flack jacket.

Cicero43 on April 10, 2008 at 8:12 PM

WOW, is this new? Or has it been going on for oh say 20 years or so. It was much more fun for the media when he lied and drove Republicans up a tree, now it’s the drive by media who is climbing the tree — They love the black racist collectivist more than the white feminist socialist.

So, what is worse? The Clintons lying about everything or Obama lying about everything. Clintons lie about what they did, what they do and what they plan to do. Obama lies about everything, period.

“Immediately”?

Another word I only thought I knew the definition of.

Splashman on April 10, 2008 at 8:20 PM

The Clintons live in a parallel universe where lying is truth, up is down and right is left. As a previous poster stated: “The scary thing is that America elected this guy as President. TWICE”.

I said months ago that I believe Bill Clinton would really prefer to see Hillary lose. These two have been competing against each other since they first met in law school. They both have gigantic egos. The last thing Bill Clinton wants is for Hillary to become President, and possibly be more successful at it than he was.

That’s not to suggest that Billy’s not also a compulsive liar. It’s not an either or thing; it’s both.

The boy has moves. He put his shizzle on the izzle, got away with perjury, served 8 years as President, and translated it into several hundred million dollars post 2000. And that was just the high points.

I’m struggling to find out how to differentiate his behavior from his wife’s or any of the other candidates.

Ares on April 10, 2008 at 8:41 PM

Clinton then spent and hour going over a series of subjects that argued why Hillary would be the best choice for the Democratic Party. While the majority of his speech was heavy on policy and ideas, Clinton did find occasion to wander off topic a few times.

It is amazing to me that he brought this up without even being asked about it. But it looks like he was babbling for quite a while before he got to this.

Eight years ago, I would have said this had to be intentional; Bill Clinton was way too good at lying to be this sloppy. But I’m still going with the theory that his stroke hurt him a lot more than anybody’s letting on. We only see flashes of the old B.C.; most of the time these days he’s running on autopilot.

logis on April 10, 2008 at 8:43 PM

The scary thing is that America elected this guy as President. TWICE.

That’s because most Americans are focused on the President’s performance in office- managing the economy, keeping the budget deficit under control, executing wartime strategy, and protecting the environment and consumers.

If you focus only on a President’s sex life and how it offends your sensibilities, then Bush might look like a brilliant choice. Believe me, the war in Iraq isn’t free, although Bush would have you believe that taxpayers don’t need to fund it- that no sacrifice is necessary.

That’s why Americans voted for Clinton and why Bush would lose in a landslide if he could run again.

bayam on April 10, 2008 at 8:45 PM

BacaDog on April 10, 2008 at 8:47 PM

bayam,

The depredations of the Clintons were kept in check by a new Republican Congress. That doesn’t include audits and other harassment of political enemies. They were the vile distillation of everything bad about the sixties and their media co-religionists glowed with approval. Credit for controlling them also goes to Limbaugh and the emerging Internet.

About Bush II, well, what did anyone expect after Bush I?

HawaiiLwyr on April 10, 2008 at 9:11 PM

Bayam has his reasons for supporting the Great Bloviator. I understand those reasons, and so do most of the commenters here.

Those reasons have nothing whatever to do with BJC’s leadership, integrity or actual performance. They have everything to do with the coincidence that nothing that happened in our country from 1992 through 2000 adversely affected Bayam.

Of course, nothing that happened in the country since 2000 has adversely affected Bayam much either, but an opponent is in the White House and that can’t happen again.

vnjagvet on April 10, 2008 at 9:13 PM

I think he unconsciously wants her to lose; he can’t take losing the competition.

On the surface he needs her to win. Otherwise, the price for his “speeches” goes considerably down, and he will have to live on his mere $10 million.

PattyJ on April 10, 2008 at 9:17 PM

I really believe part of it is Bill actually gets a major charge of brain dopamine when he think he’s pulling a fast one on somebody, be it the American public, Hillary or whomever his latest tryst is with. It’s almost like lying=sex, so that doing the dalliance with Ms. Lewisky isn’t as much of a kick as the subterfuge it takes to get away with cheating on his wife and deceiving virtually everyone around him.

Given that mindset, it’s exciting to come up with a bald-faced lie like this, and either see if you can get away with it, or if when challenged on the line, you can intimidate the questioner by pointing your finger, talking loud and going all red-faced. And what’s even better about this is if the lie doesn’t hold water, it’s not going to hurt Bill Clinton, just Hillary, and she really can’t do anything about it because of her own problems with the truth and the desire to never say anything ever again in public about Tuzla.

jon1979 on April 10, 2008 at 9:37 PM

Of course, nothing that happened in the country since 2000 has adversely affected Bayam much either, but an opponent is in the White House and that can’t happen again.

I was adversely affected by the implosion of the tech bubble. And I’m not sure who I’ll vote for, it might be McCain.

One of my big concerns is the budget deficit and Obama may not have enough fiscal discipline. The dollar losing 40% of its value in a short period of time is a huge warning sign to a lot of people, including Steve Forbes. Our massive trade and budget deficits both contribute to that problem.

So yes, losing 40% of my purchasing power in the world economy is a much bigger concern to me than who’s been having sex with the President or idiotic lies about dangerous trips abroad.. Call me an idiot but if asset inflation eventually hits this country the way many economists are predicting (it’s already strongly affected energy and food prices), you might actually come to the same conclusion.

Now, I’ll let you get back to worrying about how your sensibilities have been offended.

Lots of interesting names here, including “Jed Clampett” and the “Skipper” from “Gilligan’s Island”. Boston Pops conductor Arthur Fiedler was also in the Guard, as were Humphrey Bogart, golfer Arnie Palmer, and (gasp!) singer Tom Waits.

As it turns out, the father of a Coastie friend of mine actually served with Buddy Ebsen in the CG in World War 2. Hooooo doggies!

You totally lost me. You mean it was the Dems that flooded the word economy with dollars? Which Democrat did that? In fact, there was no sign that this was going to happen until ‘W’ had been in office for years. Although you can blame Greenspan as much as any politician for our current situation.

It’s not a simple policy issue, it’s more of a structural problem in our economy. Mismanagement of the national budget is another factor, and it points directly to the White House.

BDU-33 on April 11, 2008 at 2:34 AM

I live here in Boonville, IN. So, I attended the rally here last night. It’s true that it is a rarity to actually see a national political figure here. The last one I can remember here was Robert Kennedy in the sixties. The first thing that struck me was the small crowd. Boonville and much of the surrounding area is very much a democrat stronghold. I expected a full stadium. I was surprised to see it only half full at best. Maybe 2500 people or so. And many of those were High School kids that were let out early. But most of the crowd really ate up what he said, even the Bosnia story.

But the biggest response came from when he was telling the crowd everything that Hillary would do for each one of us. Health coverage for all, which would cover anything at any time, so many new jobs that we would have our pick from employers, New “green” industries and jobs, higher wages, cars that get 100 mpg, fixing the ozone layer, getting rid of the deficit, get troops out of Iraq, no more shooting first and talking later, and much more but I was too busy keeping my lunch down.

Like which button to push on the “football”?

Oh, and on the point of moving to the ‘armored’ part of the C-130…Which part would that be? Because garden variety transport C-130′s don’t have any specific ‘armor’. They’re constructed mostly of aluminum – and although the cockpit area has more layers of aluminum, along with assorted components, wiring, etc, it’s certainly not designed specifically with stopping bullets in mind.

About the only place on a C-130 you can use the structure to hide from bullets (even relatively small caliber rounds) is to huddle up next to one of the wheel wells – and that’s only going to shield you from things on the other side of the gear truck assembly (one of the, if not THE largest metal parts in the plane). You’re still theoretically vulnerable from all other angles, including from below. For the majority of locations on the aircraft, the only thing between you and the outside is a (relatively) thin aluminum skin and some insulation…

Still the level of risk is very, very low, considering all factors – the use of a combat approach to limit exposure of the airframe, combined with the abysmally low effectiveness percentages of manually operated small caliber weapons against an aircraft – it’s a situation that quite literally falls into the “thousand consecutive miracles” category.

I cant believe some wonder why would he lie knowing he would get caught. He simply cant help himself. He lied to his own Cabinet over the Monica deal, inadvertantly causing some to commit political suicide by defending him against those scurrilopus charges on his “character”. He’s always been Slick Willy.

For thirty years, this guy’s wife and child haven’t been able to believe a word out of his mouth over the breakfast table in response to such pressing questions as “what did you do last night? or “what are you up to today?”

It’s gone on for so long, and is such a routine part of their family life, that his wife and daughter tell their own lies in order to cover for his (and vice versa), much like a codependent family caught up in alcoholism.

So, I think it runs deeper than his merely wanting Hillary to lose, although I think that’s true, too, because then she might eclipse him in the estimation of others. He’s literally (and I’m saying this in a clinical sense, not as a name-caller or anything) a pathological liar who simply can’t control himself.

Now, this is obviously just my opinion, but I think the root of this situation is that, like many young men in today’s world, he got dumped by his Dad and consequently never felt like he was good enough for his approval, and that no one really likes him. So he lies and cheats and hurts people in order to inflate his own diminished sense of self-worth. Psych 101.

If I were a blogger, I think I’d write a macro so that I could spit out “Clinton lies shamelessly” by merely typing a capital C in order to save keystrokes.

In this clip from “Kingdom of Heaven” you will find something the Clintons will never say at 1:05 into it.

I question the stupidity of his timing. This story was starting to fade away for Hillary. What was his motive in rehashing it, other than the fact that he just can’t help himself?

RMCS_USN on April 11, 2008 at 12:23 PM

“Is lying genuinely compulsive for him?” There have been psychological profiles done on BJ but we don’t need no stinking shrinks to tell us that he is a pathological liar.
Must we presume him innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, when we have the facts a link away? Sorry, but, one stupid question deserves another.
The interesting question is whether or not he secretly or subconsciously wants her to lose. Half the time he thinks he’s running again and even if he were to be asked about this we could only expect more lies, so it’s an extremely difficult to dig down to the truth.
Narcissistic sociopaths can’t put themselves in another person’s position or see themselves as other see them and they have no healthy shame, so lying is just like breathing for them.
Also, the Clintons are professional victims but I do have to say that Hilly and Chelsea had the only cajones in the family in this case. They were able to face a slightly dangerous situation while Bill, the Cowardly, draft-dodging Lion could not. So, it’s clear that underneath all the ‘mis-statements’ he’s defending himself, as usual.

Blacksheep nailed it: “Now, this is obviously just my opinion, but I think the root of this situation is that, like many young men in today’s world, he got dumped by his Dad and consequently never felt like he was good enough for his approval, and that no one really likes him. So he lies and cheats and hurts people in order to inflate his own diminished sense of self-worth. Psych 101.”
Throw in what his mom did to him and his chances to be a decent man were greatly diminished. This doesn’t excuse him because our free will should trump childhood abuse. As adults, we all have the choice to be victims.

He’s a red-nosed, slack-jawed and pathological liar. He represents the epitome of today’s politician. He, and his ilk, are why far too many Americans – including me – hold politicians in utter contempt.

I’ve gotten to where I hate ‘em all. Hate ‘em all, and you’ll never be disappointed.

Add to that the fact that he became adept at lying to women (Mom, Grandma, then Hillary, Gennifer, Monica, and all the rest). He also learned how to wrap them around his little, uh, finger.

It worked for a while, but they all became wise to him, just as some of the MSM and Dhimmicrats are now.
