Of course: Wright to speak at NAACP dinner

The news breaks on the very day that Obama’s warning his supporters (namely, Jay Rockefeller) to watch what they say. I bet he’s pretty jazzed at the thought of the media having to cover Rev. “America created AIDS” again, huh?

Controversial minister Jeremiah Wright will speak at the Detroit branch of the NAACP 53rd Annual Fight for Freedom Fund dinner.

Wright, the former minister of presidential candidate Barack Obama, has been under fire for remarks he’s made during his sermons about race relations, the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and black separatism. He recently retired as pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ, a 10,000-member megachurch located in Chicago.

They’ve got cover from his retirement to do this — just honoring the man for his lifetime of scholarship, moral guidance, hate sermons, etc — but naturally there’s a built-in middle finger to his critics in the wake of last month’s uproar. Obama at least likes to pretend that he’d have disassociated himself from Wright if he’d remained pastor and refused to apologize for the “chickens home to roost” crap, notwithstanding that lifetime of service. Was an apology also a condition of the NAACP’s invitation? Feel my skepticism.

Maybe Colin Powell will be a sport and introduce him. Exit question: What does Hillary know?

Clear case of the NAACP’s chickens! Are coming home…to ROOST.

Ares on April 10, 2008 at 3:12 PM

Well sure – the NAACP has been socially responsible….

NOT

jake-the-goose on April 10, 2008 at 3:12 PM

I wonder if Obama will say “America would have avoided all these problems if we had elected Rev. Wright president.”

rbj on April 10, 2008 at 3:13 PM

B.O. had better write up some form of generic apology in advance before Wright commences his latest rant. B.O. can just fill in the blanks as to what group was insulted or offended by Wright afterward.

Exit question: What does Hillary know?

I’m guessing it has something to do with FBI files.

amerpundit on April 10, 2008 at 3:14 PM

Does this mean the NAACP doesn’t want Obama elected? This puts Wright back in the news and reminds everyone about it again right before some key primaries.

Buford on April 10, 2008 at 3:15 PM

The fix is in, folks.

Rev. Wright will give a “moderate” speech, and it will get coast-to-coast, wall-to-wall, front-page, use the second-coming typeface news coverage. And… POOOF, the whole issue will be declared by our betters in the media to be “behind us”.

That’s the way the game is played when you have the sacred duty to protect the public’s right to know whatever you know is right for them to know.

Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

Do you think Bubba will attend? He was the first black president. I could see him cozying up to Barry to get the inside track on a UN Ambassador position.

drunyan8315 on April 10, 2008 at 3:22 PM

Good point.

I expect the speech will have a lot of “love”, “freedom”, “unity”, and “change” in it.

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on April 10, 2008 at 3:28 PM

Beware everyone . . . this will be an attempt to sanitize Wright. Anybody that falls for this charade deserves what they get.

“53rd Annual Fight for Freedom Fund dinner”

What freedom has the NAACP been fighting for for the last 53 years?

The NAACP just can’t modernize it’s shtick to fit the times. I’m developing a knee jerk reaction to all these racially driven groups because the message is always the same. Give me more. Whites are bad.

I think Obama and Wright are going to play this the other way, go out on a Clinton style do-or-die offensive.

Wright will say he left his church to become the Deputy Leader of the Nation of Islam.

Michelle Obama and Al Sharpton will introduce Robert Mugabe as the surprise guest speaker.

And all the while Barack and the crowd will be chanting, “YES WE CAN!”

Ares on April 10, 2008 at 3:37 PM

I think everyone is in a bind.

Racist Wright has to speak to keep his $$$ coming in. He is not concerned with ObamaX becoming President.

The NAACP can’t very well uninvite him.

ObamaX can’t stop Racist Wright from speaking during his retirement.

faraway on April 10, 2008 at 3:39 PM

No clue what Hillary has got, but it sounds like a feign. Who announces something like that except fiction based events? The Clintons calling someone else dirty is still hard to take.

The NAACP was once an organization that had a bit of dignity, now they are host to racism and hatred based on color….everything they were formed to defeat. NAACP, Rev Wright, Louie the Muslim, Kadafi, Colin Powell, Obama….all bed buddies based on their skin tone. Pathetic.

Hening on April 10, 2008 at 3:40 PM

Especially pathetic when skin tone is determined by melanin, just a bunch of chemicals in different concentrations.

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Biosynthetic pathway for eumelanins:

Tyrosine → DOPA → dopaquinone

Dopaquinone can combine with cysteine by two pathways to benzothiazines and pheomelanins

Dopaquinone + cysteine → 5-S-cysteinyldopa → benzothiazine intermediate → pheomelanin

Dopaquinone + cysteine → 2-S-cysteinyldopa → benzothiazine intermediate → pheomelanin

Alternatively, dopaquinone can be converted to leucodopachrome and follow two more pathways to the eumelanins

Dopaquinone → leucodopachrome → dopachrome → 5,6-dihydroxyindole-2-carboxylic acid → quinone → eumelanin

Dopaquinone → leucodopachrome → dopachrome → 5,6-dihydroxyindole → quinone → eumelanin

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

All that turns out to be a formula for so much pain and anguish between us. Pathetic indeed.

Hillary will win the primary. Obama will not hold his Senate seat in the next election. If he is lucky, he will finish out the next 20 years as a Chicago Alderman. I have foreseen it.

Nosferightu on April 10, 2008 at 3:54 PM

I love it. This whole thing reads like a chapter in David Horowitz’s book “hating whitey and other progressive causes”. These racists make Horowitz look like the only sane commenter left in America.

Jaibones on April 10, 2008 at 3:57 PM

Just another bigot convention as far as I’m concerned…

D2Boston on April 10, 2008 at 3:57 PM

Update (AP): I took him simply to mean…

What the heck, AP, are you judgmental of Obama on this? Let’s leave that sort of wingnut-ism to the crazies here and try to understand what the CBC really means by inviting Wright to speak.

READ THE BOOK: The Bell Curve. Explains everything about the NAACP.

Andy in Agoura Hills on April 10, 2008 at 4:09 PM

To a certain degree, there is a chance that Wright may turn it up to 11 to prove that he hasn’t been broken by The Man.

Please please PLEASE let Bruddah Wright speak! The more he talks, the more Obama sinks…

“Dreams from my father” would have better been titled “Get Whitey”. It’s a nice touch to hear Obama read it himself, the inflection in his voice adds just a littel extra something to it.

What we need to do is send Wright thousands of emails telling him to “keep it real”. “Don’t let the MAN silence you”. “Don’t be an uncle tom, sellout, punk”.

This is a setup to “show” he can behave. All it says to me is that the NAACP agrees with his statements, and DOES NOT REPRESENT ME.

Agrippa2k on April 10, 2008 at 4:48 PM

Here I go – I’m gonna say it…

If 30% of black folks share Wrights views, and it drops off from there for the next 30% – only the remaining 40% are true Christians, and are not deluded.

America may be ready for a black President, but black the majority of black Americans are not.

Agrippa2k on April 10, 2008 at 4:55 PM

Black Obama says he does not share Wrights views (all of/completely). But he is clearly in the middle 30% of black folks who share some of those views.

Does Jew bashing occur in the Obama house? I suspect it does. Does White bashing go on? Probably. America bashing. No Doubt.

So how does he not agree? Is it about degrees? He may not “think” about killing whitey, but not being the extreme of the extreme still makes you extreme.

Agrippa2k on April 10, 2008 at 5:00 PM

Support for Obama is lining up.

Black Separatists and Black Jesus for Obama. Rev. J. Wright, coordinator;
Catholics for Obama, Rev. Michael Pfleger, coordinator;
Black Muslims for Obama, L. Farrakhan, coordianator;
Xenu and Scientology for Obama. (The coordinator will be revealed only to those who have been certified as ‘clear’);
American Terrorists for Obama, Bernadine Dohrn and spouse directors.

With backing like this the opposition should just accept that resistance is futile!

Annar on April 10, 2008 at 5:07 PM

Maybe this is where Wright tells whomever was offended he is sorry. Not!!

Give the Rev’ a standing O. After all, he’s just been sayin’ what we’ve all been thinkin’ hasn’t he?

This has nothing to do with Obama because he pimps white women and black women. And he’s a long-legged mack daddy.

Wright and the NAACP? Perfect match!

Gatordoug on April 10, 2008 at 6:16 PM

I agree with those who say this will be an attempt to sanitize Wright.

Exit question: What does Hillary know?

I don’t know but I can’t wait to find out! Maybe Lanny Davis will hint that he has a typical white illegitimate daughter and blame it on the “Republican attack machine”.

“Rev. Wright is also somebody who has made enormous contributions in his community and has turned a lot of lives around,” Powell said, “And so, I have to put that in context with these very offensive comments that he made, which I reject out of hand.”

Typical Lib. There are plenty of churches whose ministers could be said to have turned lives around. Obama chose this one.

Ahhh..

Brought to you by the same people who gave R. Kelly an image award, have a racist leader themselves, and support giving black criminal the benefit of the doubt while complaining that Caucasian criminals commit hate crimes.

Fitting.

madmonkphotog on April 10, 2008 at 7:05 PM

Yesterday I caught the our local liberal Detroit talk radio host discussing the invitation with an NAACP rep. The host played the G-D- America clips and pressed the guy to explain why they would invite Wright after this stuff was made public.

The NAACP guy (didn’t get the name, I was driving) was unflappable. He said Wright is taken out of context. He had heard Wright many times and his message is positive and great for the black community. yada yada. He meant it.

When this guy hears Wright he hears an uplifting message

That is the real problem. Not what Wright spews, but what his audience hears. It all sounds great to them.

I predict standing room only, and standing O’s for their hero who tells the US of KKK to shove it.

The only fun question for the black community is whether the mayor will attend. Now that has the locals wrapped. They cannot get enough of those scandals. Wright is not controversial here. The big argument is whether you are for or against the mayor.
