Video: Obama now lying about lying about McCain’s “100 years” comment

A nifty clip via MKH exposing his shameless lie this morning on “Today” with footage from the campaign trail. Which isn’t to suggest that he’s let this matter drop of late: Only last week he told a crowd in Pennsylvania, “You know, John McCain wants to continue a war in Iraq perhaps as long as 100 years.” Memo to His Holiness: If even your fans at ABC are telling you to let this go, you should probably listen.

He and Hillary are not lying, they just have really bad memories. Hillary’s long-term memory is terrible, and Obama’s short-term memory is terrible.

Obamareality….?

Oh, Obama, you were supposed to not be a politician and change Washington for the betterment of the people. Where oh, where is the hope of that?
Oh, wait, I guess you’re a hypocritical politician just like the rest of ‘em.

He misremembered about misspeaking. Get it straight, people!

Queen singing “Liar, LIAR” immediately comes to mind…
JustTruth101 on April 8, 2008 at 10:25 AM
This is why the dad angle is such a red herring. Obama is more likely to be a congenital liar than he is to be a congenital commie. Nah, he got started down that road hanging out with his druggie high school layabouts and ‘alienated’ college radicals, smoking reefer ‘enthusiastically’ and griping about paternalism. Big whoop.
The sociopathic lying on the other hand is genuinely disqualifying.
RushBaby on April 8, 2008 at 10:25 AM
Wow, what a loser. I hope he keeps it up.

The scary part of all of this is not that these clowns flat out lie, but people still believe in them.

Well, of course, he misspoke…NO?…those statements were taken out of context…NO?…he was tired…NO?…he says lots of things he doesn’t really mean…STILL NOT BUYING IT?…can we change the subject? NO!

This ding-a-ling is incredible. He floats around in some parallel universe where the distortion of reality is an accepted standard. The truly frightening part is that his mindless disciples have been completely brain washed into believing in his alternate reality.

He’s a lying fraud and a gun grabbing commie.

Lying liars and the lies they lie about.
BTW – did anyone ever find any more details on Barry’s claim yesterday that he travelled to Pakistan while in college? I’m not saying that’s a lie but it smells.
Vote Sauron 08 on April 8, 2008 at 10:39 AM
What “it” isn’t true? That he didn’t say that? Or that McCain didn’t say it? I couldn’t tell from the brief clip. Surely he wasn’t claiming he didn’t say it.
Sue on April 8, 2008 at 10:40 AM
Obama is deceitful to the core of his being. Everything he says and does is intended to make things appear differently than they really are.
indythinker on April 8, 2008 at 10:40 AM
Hopefully this will make its way into an ad.
amerpundit on April 8, 2008 at 10:40 AM
I think “Liar” by the Sex Pistols is more appropriate. Maybe a mash up of the two.

This is the main thing about Obama that pisses me off. Commie dad, whatev… nutty Reverend… eh, too much of that on the right to really worry me. This though, it’s so transparently opportunistic and shitty.

That’s a liberal response . . . “everybody’s doing it”. And yes, please do say more because the equation is entirely different.

Beautiful. Gotcha, Barack.

Vieira’s been off the View too long. You don’t challenge anyone who might unseat Bush…uh, the Rethuglicans.
As young as he is, he still cut his political teeth before teh interwebs, where the “repeat a lie often enough” meme still worked. – “We can pull up the quotes on YouTube…” That’s right, Barry, we actually CAN and DO do that.
eeyore on April 8, 2008 at 10:46 AM
Has anyone else noticed how his looks have changed?
Particularly since his same old, same old speech on race?
In my view he now looks like the emperor with no clothes on.
His eyelashes flutter when he lies, he grimaces with his brows knit together. The heavenly glow is gone!
Conservaboomer on April 8, 2008 at 10:47 AM
Well, at least Barack doesn’t take money from Big Oil Companies.

I hope JMac is squirreling these little trinkets away in his notebook for the debates. Priceless.
Dr.Cwac.Cwac on April 8, 2008 at 10:49 AM
When confronted face-to-face by McCain on this issue in the upcoming debates, Barry will melt like a creamsicle in Baghdad, backdown like a titmouse before a lion and cry for his mommy.
fogw on April 8, 2008 at 10:51 AM
Seems pretty straightforward to me. Watch the lie from Obama on the top of this page, and then watch this. – Which is what John McCain said.
McCain is NOT talking about 100 years of war. Obama is LYING and Hillary is LYING. McCain gave the example of US troops in Japan. US troops are in Korea, and in Germany. There is no war with the US and Japan. Troops are there.
He was making the comment about troops in Iraq for years – which is fine. NOT – 100 years of war with Iraq.
wise_man on April 8, 2008 at 10:52 AM
“Lying about lying” is a double negative, which is a positive, meaning he’s really telling the truth, right?
I just can’t get the knack of following this election any longer.
Shy Guy on April 8, 2008 at 10:52 AM
When he says “not accurate” isn’t he referring to Frank Rich’s statement that McCain doesn’t want 100 more years of war?
Anwyn on April 8, 2008 at 10:54 AM
Oh, doubleplusungood. You better be careful, this thread might be considered crimespeak.
Asher on April 8, 2008 at 10:55 AM
Sure he would. Here’s his chief strategist yesterday blatantly lying about it.
amerpundit on April 8, 2008 at 10:55 AM
I’d hate to rain on the “lying about lying” parade here, but if you watch the full clip, he is talking about pulling up the YouTube clips of John McCain. He then goes on to characterize McCain’s 100 year comment as McCain being okay with a long-term U.S. occupation. If you want to call that a lie, fine. But he’s definitely not saying that it’s inaccurate that he ever said what Meredith brings up. The clip is misleading.
Yoosaion on April 8, 2008 at 10:55 AM
I’ve noticed. There were times when I saw that same thing in my kids when they tried to spin the truth.
Connie on April 8, 2008 at 10:55 AM
……. and THIS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFknKVjuyNk video on youtube clearly shows that McCain did not advocate a hundred years of WAR.
You people need to get this through your thick skulls.
wise_man on April 8, 2008 at 10:58 AM
Yet another Obamanation of the truth.
Reaganite84 on April 8, 2008 at 11:00 AM
Another day, another lie, another bump in the pools for Obama.
Everyone loves a liar.
awake on April 8, 2008 at 11:01 AM
I agree. But the premise of this thread is also false, and it relies on a conveniently edited video clip to make its point. In the interview, he was not denying anything he’s said. He was talking about McCain. You can even hear at the very end of the clip him starting to say, “What John McCain said…”
Yoosaion on April 8, 2008 at 11:01 AM
The politician of change.
Change the story.
Change the truth.
When does he figure out that everyone knows he’s lying? How deep will dig the hole?
drjohn on April 8, 2008 at 11:01 AM
Why is everyone so surprised and upset that a politician is lying. Nothing has changed except that we can actually catch them in their lies so easily these days. Not to mention quickly.
Oldnuke on April 8, 2008 at 11:03 AM
Thanks for that. Explains why I lost every poker round I ever played.
Shy Guy on April 8, 2008 at 11:03 AM
What he was trying to do was distract from what he said. It isn’t going to work. When Frank Rich says a Democrat is lying, that’s significant.
drjohn on April 8, 2008 at 11:04 AM
He didn’t say it one way, he didn’t say it another.
So why are you making this claim that this is false, unless you have the evidence to prove that it is?
wise_man on April 8, 2008 at 11:04 AM
He accused McCain of wanting to engage in a 100-year war . . . that’s a fact. If he’s denying that he made that accusation then he’s lying. I will concede that his constant obfuscation becomes confusing but that’s his intent. The man is a skilled liar and snake oil salesman but an inept presidential candidate.
rplat on April 8, 2008 at 11:05 AM
No. He’ll do what all Democrats do. First he’ll demagogue the situation. When that doesn’t work, he’ll call McCain and fascist. When that doesn’t work, he’ll insinuate that McCain is a racist.
Dr.Cwac.Cwac on April 8, 2008 at 11:05 AM
He’s not. At least not here. Go watch the full interview at the Today Show website. I have no problem with attacking him for accusing McCain of supporting a 100-year war. That’s a lie. But to use the clip from this thread as evidence that he’s denying that he ever said that is incredibly disingenuous.
Yoosaion on April 8, 2008 at 11:08 AM
Thank you.
Everything else is just a distraction from what the real issue is here: Barack Obama lying about John McCain.
I am really, honestly surprised that the media isn’t covering for him – and actually asking him this question here. It’s a refreshing change (for the moment.)
wise_man on April 8, 2008 at 11:09 AM
Why is this member of the MSM ganging up on Obama? He’s for ‘change’. Obama makes it all better. He’s a genius, and senses that color can be an issue. He’s become what he is, even after the effects being raised by a White racist granny. He is truth, he is hope, he is change. He’s loved by Rolling Stone.
Sieg Obama, Sieg Obama, Sieg Obama……..

I have been trying to watch this clip ever since it was posted here. I click the arrow, it says it’s no longer available. I click the MKH link and the same happens there. I even follow the link and go to Youtube but it just stalls. Very frustrating.
Darksean on April 8, 2008 at 11:14 AM
You probably can find it on YouTube. There probably is a doctored clip on YouTube with McCain saying exactly what the Holy One claims he said.
snaggletoothie on April 8, 2008 at 11:14 AM
He also uses the word “confess” in a “lawyerly” way. He says, often, things like, “I have to confess Wolf, I’ve never heard the Rev. Wright say those kinds of things in church.”
Barry’s opposite use of the word “confess” is deliberate and intended to confuse the listener into believing that Obama is speaking the truth. In real truth, he “confesses” to absolutely nothing, and lies in the same sentence that he confesses in. It would take years to master that technique, and a style of lying that is, in a word, habitual.
JiangxiDad on April 8, 2008 at 11:16 AM
McCain voted for the 100 years war before he voted against it.
But he will always vote for amnesty.

This is a pattern with Obama. In his response to the President’s SOTU address in January, he had this to say:

What is the theme of this page?
“Video: Obama now lying about lying about McCain’s “100 years” comment”
?
wise_man on April 8, 2008 at 12:21 PM
John McAmnesty’s lie about Romney’s quote was much more egregious.
As are his lies about him intending to secure the border first.
PrezHussein on April 8, 2008 at 12:44 PM
Yes. And I’m with Sue. That’s not what happened in the Today Show interview. The clip in this thread just edits the interview to make it seem that way.
Yoosaion on April 8, 2008 at 12:47 PM
No, you’re misunderstanding the point here. He’s not denying that he’s ever needled McCain for his “100 years” comment; he’s denying that he *distorted* the comment. McCain didn’t say he wanted 100 years *of war*, he said he wouldn’t mind if the U.S. occupied Iraq peacefully for 100 years a la Okinawa. The clips of Obama on the stump here show him distorting the comment by implying that McCain meant 100 years *of war.* It’s a lie. Watch it again.
Allahpundit on April 8, 2008 at 12:51 PM
Some people just don’t get it.
wise_man on April 8, 2008 at 12:55 PM
I had forgotten about that. Good point.
Although two wrongs don’t make a right. The liberal punditry ALWAYS respond to any criticism of a Dim by saying “Well this Republican (fill-in-the-name-here- usually Larry Craig) did this horrible thing.” as if that makes everything a-ok. Wrong is wrong whether one person or 10 people are doing it.
HawaiiLwyr on April 8, 2008 at 12:58 PM
Obama is a demagogue, nothing new here..
Lie’s, hyperventilating, and propaganda to gain power..
Hitler did it also.
Chakra Hammer on April 8, 2008 at 1:02 PM
I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt, but it seems to me that all he is doing in this clip is repeating the original lie, but softening 100 years of “war” to 100 years of “occupation.” The video clips it to make it seem like he’s categorically denying that he ever said that he accused McCain of wanting 100 years of war. That seems to be the implication that most of the other comments are picking up on, but that’s not at all the case.
Yoosaion on April 8, 2008 at 1:04 PM
Stinks when your free-press-pass gets revoked doesn’t it Obamamessiah?
This man is a spineless opportunist who disrespects his own country and the men and women who serve it at the real risk of their lives.
Empty rhetoric is nice at first Obamamessiah, but eventually you must act.
Montana on April 8, 2008 at 1:07 PM
Obama supporters are all for changing the subject.
Not accusing Yoosaion of obfuscation here, btw. That’s just a contextual problem (see the other links provided, Yoosian, the main clip is just part of the denial process).
I can just imagine Obama, after losing the election, declaring that he was tempted by power but overcame the temptation.
I have to remember that one the next time I don’t get a job I wanted. I overcame temptation.

Why can’t these journalists have a copy of what he said, and throw it back at him? They know he is going to deny, why not hit him back with what he actually said? Because it is more important for them to get his excuse out, then the truth out…thanks me for answering me.

The Frank Rich column also calls McCain an idiot for believing the violence in Iraq will magically end one day. Guess the “Liberal Media” forgot to mention that one, eh?
Typhonsentra on April 8, 2008 at 3:20 PM
And it has to be said again, McCain continues to get a free pass from the media for the initial statement about Iraq. Of all the times it’s been brought up, it’s always about the Democrats “misquoting” him rather than the ridiculousness of what he’s suggesting.
Typhonsentra on April 8, 2008 at 3:22 PM
Do you think that violence in Iraq will continue until the end of time, Typhonsentra?
There is absolutely no possibility that it might one day be ‘over’ as it is in other countries that were once at war? Even civil wars that rage for years eventually stop.
wise_man on April 8, 2008 at 3:28 PM
“The Frank Rich column also calls McCain an idiot for believing the violence in Iraq will magically end one day. …

Except that McCain “believes” no such thing. Typical liberal strawman argument.
argos on April 8, 2008 at 4:01 PM
Ok, I watched the entire Today Show interview. Obama actually was referring to McCains comment being on youtube, but in doing so he dodge Meredith’s question, then changed what it was that seeing McCains comment was supposed to confirm.
That still makes him dishonest on the matter in my book.
