Ramirez on 3 AM
posted at 9:25 am on April 8, 2008 by Ed Morrissey
Michael Ramirez won a Pulitzer this week for his editorial cartoons at Investors Business Daily. He won the Pulitzer in 1994, before the Los Angeles Times got so foolish as to let him slip through their fingers. Ramirez is a must-read for his humor and incisive commentary, as this entry below shows. He distills the dueling Democratic ads on the 3 AM phone call to their absurd essence:

Michael Ramirez is as funny and engaging in real life as his cartooning. You can listen to my interview with Ramirez and others from the IBD staff in this podcast from September 2007. Meanwhile, congratulations to Michael for his well-deserved recognition.

Congrats, sir. I raise a glass to you.
This one really does sum up how a lot of feel about McCain.

Congrats to a creative and clever artist, well deserved!

That must have been a hard one to swallow…he is so outstanding even the left has to point to him as a beacon of truth…that has gotta hurt.

Normalcy? Can’t be!

Fantastic cartoonist, who never fails to put out top-quality political barbs with total class. It was a long time coming, and he deserves it so much.
Kudos for Michael Ramirez!

Truly deserved. Way to go Ed, and Hot Air, in recognizing and promoting such great talent. Thanks!

Excellent cartoonist. His success is well deserved. But celebrations should be tempered. Less you give the impression that conservatives crave left-wing recognition.

Long deserved. Under noted. Now, can he make that into a
‘toon?

A surgeon with a drawing tool. Ramirez is fantastic, and I’m thrilled he is being recognized.

Being a born and raised Southern Californian, I was heartbroken to hear that the Times had made the monumental error of dropping Ramirez (one of many, I might add). He was far and away the best political cartoonist they had and his work has only improved over the years. Witty, insightful, and pithy, he can say with a picture and a word what takes others pages. A well deserved recognition!

Might I recommend a link to Ramirez in the cartoon section on the right?

Well deserved!! Many of his cartoons have graced my PC desktop at work, much to the chagrin of my liberal co-workers.

Right. I love this guy’s work. I’ve always called him the political version of Gary Larson.
