It’s too bad the tradition of Triumphs ended with the Roman Empire: Petraeus, Crocker, and Odierno are well on their way to earning one.

If the big 3 automakers want to keep building cars in America they can come down to the South like the Japanese and Korean companies and find willing laborers and business friendly state governments.

Don't forget the Germans (my BMW was assembled in South Carolina). Seems as though anyone can make plenty of money building cars in America, as long as their headquarters aren't in Detroit.

Somebody more skilled than I needs to take a screen shot of Madame Hillary! with her sour look of disdain and (yes) condescension. She is not fit to shine Gen. Petraeus's boots.

Super genius Kennedy tried to connect the VP to talks on Basra. Who are side are these morons on?

Les in NC on April 8, 2008 at 11:08 AM

Actually the question should be-WHAT are they on?

Mrs. Bill seemed very subdued in her "grilling" of the good general. Her internal polling numbers must be very bad indeed.

The Jim Webb meme is a low blow. It should be removed from this post.

Jim Webb is my absolutely worthless Senator and I prefer him to be asleep. He's far less dangerous that way.

I called his office once to denounce his latest idiocy and was told he was on the Senate floor. I said "Good, I hope he stays on the floor".

Maybe he's taken my advice.

watch at about the 7:30 mark when purported VP candidate Jim Webb starts to fall asleep

C'mon, Ed! I've watched it several times, and the actual quote should be:

watch at about the 7:30 mark when purported VP candidate Jim Webb sneezes

Ooooooh the scandal!

Far more interesting was Hillary's fidgeting and scowling. Did McCain make her feel like there was anywhere she'd less rather be, than face-to-face with a great general like Petraeus, whom she'd previously suggested was a liar?

The problem with McCain is his self-righteous moral preening. I guarantee you, it's not going to go over well in the general election. George Will made the point in his April 6 column:

Quote: "McCain practices the politics of honor: He thinks that whatever his instincts tell him is honorable must be so, and those who think otherwise are dishonorable."

How about his promise to slash military R&D so he can “invest” more in domestic spending programs?

funky chicken on April 8, 2008 at 12:14 PM

C'mon funky, surely our national defense is not more important than creating more affirmative action programs to heal the wounds that evil, greedy, white America has inflicted on blacks; or creating more social welfare programs so that we can make sure that tens of millions of soon-to-be new citizens from south of the border have nice homes, free health care, etc?

I spotted another quote from McCain economic advisor saying that the primary job of the president is to shine a light on behavior that is less than exemplary.

That's called using the bully pulpit. A little public shaming would do lots of folks good, actually.

I guess there's lots of quotes from Obama economic advisors that sound better to you? Do you like his "Patriotic Company Act" or his "Global Poverty Act" the most?

"I’m guessing that would be anyone’s behavior except McCain’s."

So if "conservatives" succeed in getting Obama elected, will you promise to show up on these message boards to tell us why Obama's latest Obama-nation (socialist economic policy, appeasement of terrorists, release of US criminals, etc.), is really good for the United States, as it will help us elect the next Ronald Reagan?

Because we're really going to need that, should you succeed in electing Obama.

amerpundit on April 8, 2008 at 11:02 AM

And if I might add, cite an article in the NYT criticizing the war stragety and ask Petraeus if he agrees with their assessment.

The Dems are embarrassingly funny, shallow and ignorant.

This is a bit off topic, but I just found a recent quote from Thomas Sowell that sums up exactly how I think many conservatives feel about McCain:

Quote: "Senator John McCain could never convince me to vote for him. Only Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama can cause me to vote for McCain."

I spotted another quote from McCain economic advisor saying that the primary job of the president is to shine a light on behavior that is less than exemplary.

I'm guessing that would be anyone's behavior except McCain's.

"The hippie who hasn’t been anywhere ever, but has an opinion about everything? (and works at a video store and smells vaguely of pot)"

Democrat Senators work at video stores?

What, bribes, kickbacks and selling classified information to terrorist, doesn't bring in enough to maintain Democrat mansions, jets and servants?

What is the world coming to, when a Democrat can't make a good living by selling out his country?
