The NAZI party was the National Socialist German Workers Party. Hitler imprisoned the members of the opposition, Social Democratic Party to gain control of Germany, as did Joseph Stalin, to purge his opposition in the Soviet Union. In Germany both parties were socialist and in the Soviet Union, Stalin and his opposition were both Communist.

I highly doubt we will hear from the Bush administration in any forceful or meaningful way. Perhaps Rice will make some diplospeak. It’s discouraging and worrying and infuriating. If Chavez can open his mouth for years with little consequence, why can’t Bush?

Interesting that Dems are rebutting all attempts to complete a free trade agreement with Columbia.

Clinton’s not opposed. Many others aren’t. They just say it to be opposed to Bush and pander to blue collar workers during an election year. Supporting Columbia in every way is vital, but the Dems won’t. They think it won’t help them win elections. Of course, the only Dem that is going to win is John McCain, so it’s moot anyway.

The story was linked to from here a week or so ago. One or more dems on the comittee dealing with the potential free trade agreement (on the anti- side, of course) have been in contact with FARC. I can’t recall the names right now. Look back in the archives to find the original article.
