Ed Rendell: “Keith Olbermann should be on the Obama payroll”

posted at 3:00 pm on April 6, 2008 by Allahpundit

Quickly followed by: “If he’s not, he should be on the Obama payroll.” Well played, sir. Even more predictable than Patrick McHenry being smeared with the lie that his “security guard” comment was aimed at a U.S. soldier will be Rendell winning “worst person in the world” — again — for criticizing Kayo’s embarrassing front-running on Obama’s behalf. Exit question to Rendell: Was Keith on Hillary’s payroll when this magic television moment occurred, or does the propriety of ass-kissing depend solely on whose ass is being kissed? Rendell’s a crook and a thug. He says whatever he thinks he needs to say to get what he wants. One of the sweetest aspects of Hil’s demise would be seeing Rendell’s hopes for a high position in her administration go up in smoke.

Keith Olbermann would kiss his own butt if he could ever get his head out of it.

William Amos on April 6, 2008 at 3:30 PM

Hey Ed! If you the media has been unfair to Hillary you ain’t seen nothing. People with traditional and conservative values have been claiming for years that the mainstream media have a liberal bias. But hey, we are just a bunch of whiners, right?

terryannonline on April 6, 2008 at 3:40 PM

Allah ,

In light of the poisonous inventive being hurled, I believe a better label for the Democratic donnybrook would be “uncivil war.”

Dr. Charles G. Waugh on April 6, 2008 at 3:42 PM

I think it’s obvious Olberman is on his knees for Obama…if you know what I mean.

Giving Obama a place to rest his foot as he takes a smoke break on the campaign?

TroubledMonkey on April 6, 2008 at 3:51 PM

The key point isn’t that the “news anchor” Keith Olbermann, host of the “news show” Countdown, is a liberal hack. The point is that he is flat out a lousy, terrible, unprofessional journalist.

His reporting (loosely defined) is sloppy, inaccurate, biased, one-side, sensationalistic and unfair. He never checks his sources, he never allows those he attacks to respond or defend themselves, and he regularly uses the platform of a news show to go after whatever person of the day he dislikes.

That is simply not professional journalism or reporting by any standard, however low.

It’s really a disgrace what MSNBC is doing over there.

SteveMG on April 6, 2008 at 3:57 PM

Rendell said Norman Hsu was the most honest person he knew, or some such.

Has nothing to do with the topic at hand, just fun to say.

TroubledMonkey on April 6, 2008 at 3:51 PM

SouthernGent on April 6, 2008 at 4:00 PM

Olbermann shouldn’t be on anybody’s payroll; he should be on unemployment. The man’s a nitwit.

AZCoyote on April 6, 2008 at 4:10 PM

When i was a kid in Ohio, we used to call idiots like Olby ‘purses’, maybe it was a form of Percy, (which today would mean ‘gay’), but a guy who is an woman’s accessory fits here. This would make KO the Worst Purse In The World. (Kinda shiny on the outside, but has no insides, therefore useless.)

Rendell must be on the Clintons’ payroll, so look who’s talking.

Christine on April 6, 2008 at 4:12 PM

Olbermann is the leftist O’Reilly. The difference is that while O’Reilly is relatively moderate and fair while being mercilessly mocked on all sides, Olbermann is hard left, unfair, and is only decried by the right.

Dr. Manhattan on April 6, 2008 at 4:23 PM

Don’t things start happening in Olberman’s pants when he thinks of Obama? Oh no, that’s right, it’s the other lunatic, Matthews.

The mere thought makes me want to throw up.

waterfall on April 6, 2008 at 4:24 PM

Rendell, I used to think was a stand up guy when he was the Philly DA, but as he’s moved up in the corrupt gene pool of Liberal Democrat demography he’s a taint like all the others at the top of this foul food chain.

But he’s so right on!

Kini on April 6, 2008 at 4:32 PM

Wasn’t this in the headlines almost a week ago?

Nonfactor on April 6, 2008 at 4:34 PM

Olbermann is hard left, unfair, and is only decried by the right.

Well, he’s been blasted by Clinton supporters for his one-sided coverage of the Obama/Clinton contest.

They’re now discovering the appallingly bad journalism that he practices. When it was directed exclusively at the right, they didn’t care.

Now they do.

Again, for me it’s not that he’s a liberal reporter as much as the fact that he is just a terrible one. Good liberal reporters have their benefit; lousy ones don’t have any.

He’s just lousy.

SteveMG on April 6, 2008 at 4:38 PM

Charlie Rose? Teh, heh…

Mr. Rendell forgot the number one Obama ejaculator ars-kisser, Chrissie Matthews.

Olbermann is always an Olberkind.

Travis1 on April 6, 2008 at 5:28 PM

Wait…you Dolberman ISN’T being paid by the Obama campaign?

We all know Matthews does it out of love/passion/un-manly lust. The rest of the NBC/MSNBC gang do it out of white guilt, an attribute they lead the league in, but Dolberman doing it for free?

Lying, coniving, self righteous, smug, scumbags don’t do anything for free.

Dolberman’s on the payroll.

Bill Gates (Microsoft) and Jeffrey Imelt (GE).

I’ve written to both, and boycott their products as much as humanly possible. Strangely enough, they don’t reply :)

Through the grapevine, I’ve heard that GE will dump MSNBC after the Beijing Olympics. Imelt is a wild-ass lib, but his days are numbered as well.

Once the dishonest roaches are cleaned out at MSNBC, it will then be time to move on to CBS, CNN, C-Span, Public radio, and other dishonest liberal haunts as well. Oh, and then another cleanup is necessary at our colleges and universities where some professors are also dishonest, and brainwash our kids, and try to relive the 1960s. It seems like the cleanup work will never end.

Shall we answer their propaganda with more right-wing propaganda? I don’t think so.

Know what it is?

It’s CHAOS!

misterpeasea on April 6, 2008 at 6:52 PM

Ed nails it.

My question is: Now that the Clinton supporters know what it’s like to be on the receiving end of the drive by media, will they be more sympathetic to McCain as a candidate?

(Operation CHAOS in full swing indeed.)

Entelechy on April 6, 2008 at 7:00 PM

Bill Gates (Microsoft) and Jeffrey Imelt (GE).

The head of MSNBC and Olbermann’s direct boss is Phil Griffin.

Griffin was Olbermann’s producer for his show in the 1990s and now heads the network. The guy thinks Olbermann is just the most brilliant newsman to come along since Murrow. “The future of journalism”, he’s described Olbermann.

Yeah, I guess a head wound at some stage in his life must explain things.

ggoofer on April 6, 2008 at 4:42 PM

You’ve got to give him credit for this line (about SNL’s ragging on Obama and the media):

“Great comedy usually occurs because there’s more than a grain of truth in it. That’s what satire’s all about.”

Too bad Rendell’s such a sleaze — he has a quick mind.

And thus another proof that a “fish rots from the head down…”

Slimy bastards, and the first to be executed if the revolution they support occurs. Cold comfort and the only justice which might occur. Like many of the political class, these empty people have nothing to lose if their ideas are implemented. Except maybe their heads, but it may be too late for us slobbos by then. I hate to say this but, yes, I say let them spew their lies. Lies always have a way of revealing themselves as such.

I’m all for the free markets of ideas. I think hysterical personalities like Keith Olberman will be looked back with absolute silliness in time.

terryannonline:
Why wait? We’ve got people trying to kill us (Islamic extremists, remember?). Let’s get the truth out there. Not liberal lies to suit their agenda to regain their power. They have been putting their agenda ahead of our national security from their bully pulpits on TV and in the classroom and on radio and in hundreds of left wing newspapers. And you say “I think hysterical personalities like Keith Olberman will be looked back with absolute silliness in time.”

The point is, Ma’am, and with all due respect, we’re running out of time. And this isn’t silliness. What Keith Olberman and others like him do is aid and comfort our enemies.
How about this old line that is once again becoming true:
Now is the time for all good men (and women like Terryannonline)to come to the aid of their country.

Yes, he is sleazy in the Klinton tradition. Legalizing gambling here in Pennsylvania has been his mission. Trying to influence who gets the licenses is the game.

C’mon, people. What must it be like for poor Keith to get all red-faced, then launch into an indignant anti-Bush huff and moisten himself, knowing full well that only about ten viewers are tuned in – and most of them are stoned.

whitetop on April 7, 2008 at 7:36 AM

What’s really funny is going back and looking at Olbermann’s shows up until December, nobody was in the tank more for Hillary than Keith was, because he had supported Bil through the Lewinsky scandal to the points of quitting his first job at MSNBC rather than continue to do reports on it. That goes through his presentation of a check to Bill during an interview and attacking Fox’s Chris Wallace on-air for daring to ask Clinton tough questions in an interview just prior to Keith’s butt-kissing job.

The problem was that, after Hillary’s debate gaffe in October turned around the momentum, the loons who make up the core audience of “Countdown” were all strongly in Obama’s camp, and had no problem demonizing Hillary in the same way they do Republicans because she didn’t live up to their ideals. That left Keith with a conundrum as the primary season neared — continue his decade-long love affair with the Clintons and risk loosing what little audience he had left, or throw Bill and Hillary under the bus and jump on the Obama bandwagon to make sure he retains the loyal support of the netroots crowd. So Keith basically did to the Clintons in January what Bill Richardson did two months later, which might make people like Rendell mad, but it’s nothing more than what Bill and Hillary would do to one of their own people under similar circumstances.

ggoofer on April 6, 2008 at 4:42 PM

Believe it or not, he is on the Phila. Eagles’s post-game show locally, and comes off as some average fan that snuck into the studio. It’s like me being on a panel of brain surgeons. I mean, I think that there have been wonderful advances in brain surgery since the Mayans, and I know that it involves the brain and all, but that’s about my familiarity with it. Same for Eddy’s insights into NFL-level football. He doesn’t know when he doesn’t know something. But in this case he’s right. Unless, of course, Olby IS on the Hussein payroll, which is highly likely.

Akzed on April 7, 2008 at 10:02 AM

I saw something last night on local DFW evening news that blew me away. They’re actually reporting hildabeast’s latest lie about that poor pregnant lady who died because she didn’t have hil’s socialist health care to save her.

I was shocked, SHOCKED, I tell you, to see my local news report anything negative and truthful about a democrat. Here’s hoping it becomes a trend and they do the same to the Big O.

techno_barbarian on April 7, 2008 at 10:47 AM

Schultz may be a kooky leftist, but who better to analyze Olby and the rest. We can’t analyze them, it confounds us that so much ignorance is accepted.
That is why these threads are so difficult, you have a leftist dissing another leftist. How do we relate, like two slugs in mortal combat, all we see is the slime. No way can we relate to people of such low level.
