I even notice some of the ones who were prominently posting from the first open enrollment, like month and a half – 2 months ago – that open enrollment before Ed came – all seem to be gone on to trolling in greener pastures elsewhere I suppose.

They were attacking McCain vehemently and regularly, even more so than Hillary and Obama.

What is the matter with all these people?…you do right because it is “right”, not because you are seeking the same. Right is right, regardless of your opponent.
You, in general, set the tone of your campaign from the beginning based on your values…not based on what your opponents values are.
People will notice the “hatchet men” that Obama’s team hires, they will get it. You just hope they don’t have someone as effective as that evvviilll Carville, so far they have a bunch of goons.

That doesn’t mean we should sink to their level. McCain was absolutely right to chastise that idiot. He wasn’t “just using Obama’s middle name”; he was using the name to appeal to the audience’s basest fears.

McCain took the high road. Obama hasn’t yet. That will work well for McCain if the pattern continues.

I see that. My concern is that it may be a strawman. As I said upthread I believed it was true until I heard there was no witnesses able to testify they had received said calls. It would be to McCain’s advantage to create an outrage to get people to rally behind him. I don’t think McCain has any particular personal credibility that would cause me to dismiss such a thought out-of-hand either. I saw his turning of Mitt’s Iraq comments, so he is just an average politician who will use the tricks of the trade. Obama did similarly with race using Hillary’s LBJ comments.

But then again it’s always hard to please this species which seems to be in abundance this season.

I do believe a lot of people believe that. But I think the narrative sells by relying a pre-supposition of Bush/Rove having a ends-justify-any means ethic structure.

I’ll look around online a bit in the morning and see if I can find any corroborating evidence to go with the “motives” proposed by the author.
