Video: Viral video shootout at the South Park corral
posted at 9:30 am on April 3, 2008 by Allahpundit
By popular request, proof of how far viral video reaches: Here’s an in-joke that the whole country (or at least SP’s demographic) is in on, premised on no more than name-checking people you know and giggling at what they look like in their funhouse South Park guises. We’ve seen humor in this vein before but never quite this mainstream, I think; as a measure of pop-cult legitimacy, it’s like being crowned by the Pope. Naturally, Tay Zonday is the baddest mutha in the place.
The funniest allusion isn’t featured below since I wasn’t sure what the HA policy is on posting video of cartoon eight-year-olds crooning about sodomy. Curiosity seekers may perhaps find that clip here.

Blowback

First Heavy Metal, now this. South Park’s been running on all cylinders of late. :)

What? What?In my butt… very funny. The bloodbath was like one of my dark fantasies come true. True in a crude cartoon sense.

LOL
WisCon on April 3, 2008 at 9:37 AM
Amazed me how many people who were South Park fans were turned off by the anti-Union message in this episode.
I think they just didn’t like being likened to Canadians.
I mean, who would?
MadisonConservative on April 3, 2008 at 9:39 AM
Dang, missed last night’s episode. Stupid falling asleep.
rbj on April 3, 2008 at 9:48 AM
If you go look at the sneezing panda video at YouTube right now, there’s a string of comments like this: “I’m not your friend, buddy!” “I’m not your buddy, pal!” “I’m not your pal, guy!” Pretty funny if you saw this episode of SP.
aero on April 3, 2008 at 9:49 AM
That was awesome! They did miss something though, the Star Wars Kid should have been on strike, he’s from Canada. Very funny episode last night. My favorite though is still “Make Love, Not Warcraft.”

The Lewis Black show after was pretty good ,too, debating which is more evil, YouTube or Internet Pron.
“Bring me a farting panda!”

rbj, you can watch it online now, or you can catch it with commercial interruptions at the same time tonight.

South Park has never been funny. I’m not sure what is supposed to be funny on that show, shocking and outrageous, sure, but not funny.
Beavis and Butthead == funny. Carol Burnett Show == funny.
benrand on April 3, 2008 at 10:14 AM
I was wondering if they’d be able to at least match the genius of last weeks “Heavy Metal” episode and they certainly pulled it off.
Yakko77 on April 3, 2008 at 10:21 AM
Obviously you don’t watch SouthPark. There are some episodes that are a little out there but most of the humor is timely and freakin hilarious.
saltydogg14 on April 3, 2008 at 10:22 AM
Someone escaped the massacre.
Shy Guy on April 3, 2008 at 10:29 AM
You are officially no longer allowed to comment on the humor value of anything.
MadisonConservative on April 3, 2008 at 10:31 AM
Carol Burnett = Beavis and Butthead in humor?
Do you not realize these types of paradoxes can destroy the universe?
SouthernDem on April 3, 2008 at 10:46 AM
Uh, yeah. Carol Burnett? His sense of humor obviously died circa 1983.

I’m not sure if its a compliment or an insult to HotAir to note that the ONLY references I actually recognized were ones I saw right here. Undoubtedly posted by Allah.
Professor Blather on April 3, 2008 at 10:48 AM
And now of course you people made me Google some of this stuff.
Damn you.
But the Chocolate Rain guy is pretty funny. Like Carol Burnett funny.
Professor Blather on April 3, 2008 at 10:53 AM
Who escaped? I can’t watch YouTube on work PC.
Torch on April 3, 2008 at 10:57 AM
Well, first two episodes of the season seemed a bit weak, but it’s picking up again. Hurrah.
Reaps on April 3, 2008 at 10:57 AM
Carol Burnett = funny while being clean
Bob Newhart = funny while being clean
South Park = funny while being as outrageous as possible and culturally relevant.
Beavis & Butthead = stupid. Same with Family Guy (I’m with Eric Cartman on this).
rbj on April 3, 2008 at 10:58 AM
Ha. I guess Trey and Matt weren’t real thrilled with the strike or its resolution.

HILARIOUS!!!
D2Boston on April 3, 2008 at 12:02 PM
Carol Burnett Show == funny.
What? I remember this tripe. It never approached funny. It was like Red Skelton on estrogen. The only time I ever laughed was when I met someone who watched it. It took lame to new levels. Carol Burnett was to comedy what Lawrence Welk was to rock and or roll.
manfriend on April 3, 2008 at 12:28 PM
If only they had included “You’re the man now, dog!” in the massacre…
ErikTheRed on April 3, 2008 at 12:31 PM
Pure genius.
Conservative_SAHM on April 3, 2008 at 12:43 PM
Gotta love the laughing baby.
KelliD on April 3, 2008 at 12:49 PM
Looks like the laughing baby survived it.
firepilot on April 3, 2008 at 1:18 PM
Carol Burnett not funny?
Four words: Tim Conway, Harvey Korman.
OK, OK, so technically, none of those four words is either “Carol” or Burnett,” but still:

At this rate, though, it’ll take me approximately 120 billion years.

Vote for the “Evil Genius” ticket:
Trey Parker & Matt Stone for president/vp
Interview with Reason magazine – fast forward to 2:25 when they speak about being victims of Michael Moore’s cut & paste method of movie making, then they talk about how it is not having a liberal agenda to push in LA they’re told, “Whoa, whoa, wait a minute- that wasn’t a totally liberal message…”
NightmareOnKStreet on April 3, 2008 at 5:19 PM
Where’s Kenny?? Did they kill him?
Yossarian on April 3, 2008 at 5:23 PM
Did anyone notice in the “Britney’s New Look” episode where the news program goes back to the Democratic debate just as Hillary says “Spear Chucker” to Obama?
