Pennsylvania: Hillary leads by nine — or possibly trails by two! Update: We’ll seat the Florida delegates somehow, says Dean

She’s collapsing into ignominious defeat in a state where she led by 20 points! Or she’s holding strong and rallying for shocking, eleventh-hour upset victories in Indiana and in the popular vote! It’s the electoral equivalent of the attack on Basra: No one knows what’s going on or who’s winning, but damn it’s good content.

The link to follow is that last one, but read it in the context of these battleground results from the same Quinnipiac poll that has her up in PA. It’s not inconceivable that Her Majesty will have something to show the superdelegates, especially in light of the news breaking about Dean-o promising to count the results in Florida somehow. The punchline? If, per the Standard’s post, Barone’s popular vote projections are right, Hillary will owe her advantage to a jurisdiction … that isn’t even a state. The perfect, poetically bizarre ending to this bizarre process. Like I say, follow the link.

Must be great to be a pollster. All you have to do is come up with some mumbo-jumbo methodology and statistical gibberish about your latest results, and you can trot out any numbers as legitimate on any poll except for the final one right before the election. Then you have to be accurate, because that’s the only one that can be accurately measured to see if you really do know your keister from your elbow (and in the case of John Zogby over the last decade, even that doesn’t seem to matter as long as you can spin a good yarn for the TV news shows).

“The link to follow is that last one”

It’s a link to a link though, you really ought to send it to the source:

Reagarding the photo this page is linked from, Hillary seems to be saying “What can Monica do that I can’t?”

She’s collapsing into ignominious defeat in a state where she led by 20 points!

This poll oversampled blacks:

White ………………… .79%
African American … .16%

Racial makeup in PA is:
White 85%
African American 10%

Still. I say Hillary loses PA and it’s over. I’m calling it.

Its the closing effect people are getting tired of the voting and want to close behind one candidate.

Hillary has done all she really can unless she can torpedo Obama with something unknown now

But I believe Blacks do make a higher share of the Democratic party demographics so they might be right.

Regarding the Florida delegates: fine…let them be seated. Just don’t let them vote.

fogw: PA Polka sounds like a winner! ;)

FWIW, this also had a good beat to it:

Ya got to love the Dems.. sad saps that they are.. rules matter… and when inconvenient, change will make it all better in the end, don’tcha know.

normsrevenge on April 2, 2008 at 1:23 PM

wtf didn’t they penalise florida and michigan for putting it ahead of the other states, ie new hampshire??? Screw the democrats! I’m almost embarrassed I voted for obama in the primaries now, especially with all the hooplah with the dnc saying they would penalise these states for jumping in front of us. BS! Rules are cool except for when they are convienient, so it’s more convienient for me to vote mccain now I guess.

in the popular vote

So the stage is set for a campaign that was played by certain rules — strategic campaigning to go for delegates, so caucuses matter — to changing those rules at the end of the game — counting only popular vote, thus diminishing the clout of states that have caucuses. I mean, her caucus problem is the only reason Clinton could possibly claim popular victory, right?

reminds me of a joke I saw in MAD magazine..

only Democrats can claim to be ahead in a poll showing a dead heat..

to be fair, a few pages further, they said the same thing about Republicans..

DaveC on April 2, 2008 at 2:26 PM

I really have to chuckle, when I think that for all the bitching, moaning and kevetching that the Democrats did about the Florida mess in 2000, today, they don’t seem to care about counting every vote in that same state! And just because “the state didn’t follow our rules!”

Every vote counts, Democrats. Remember??

ToddonCapeCod on April 2, 2008 at 2:53 PM

No way Hillary loses PA. It’ll be another Ohio.

I think the pollsters in Pennsylvania have been swallowed by a wormhole. It’s the only way to explain all these poll at the same time.

Better get Captain Janeway on the job!

seanrobins on April 2, 2008 at 6:17 PM

I’m still part of the Rush conspiracy. . .so I’ll be voting to continue to Democrat suffering on April 22nd here in Philly.

seanrobins on April 2, 2008 at 6:18 PM

Latest polls and the Drudge Report are saying that thanks to yet another grande mal hissy fit by Bubba Billy, this time in front of a number of high ranking superdelegates over the weekend, Shillary is now TRAILING B.O. in Pennsylvania.
