Absolut Aztlan

posted at 10:20 pm on April 2, 2008 by Allahpundit

I’m tempted to pronounce this an April Fool’s prank, but if it’s a hoax, it’s an awfully elaborate one. Is revanchist irredentism the new thing in advertising now? Dare I ask what kind of ads they’re running in the West Bank? Or, gulp, Berlin?

Exit question: Who’s up for a boycott? I prefer whiskey anyway.

Update: Patrick Ishmael fights fire with fire.

I still say we take Mexico over and add 50 more stars to the flag. You’ll see 12-20 million people moving south pretty quick..That’s the answer to the illegal question..

If you lived in Texas and had to deal with all of the problems created here by the illegal aliens, you might also have a different perspective.

If you don’t live the day to day reality you don’t really know the reality. ( I too live in SoCal) My daughter lives in San Diego and has been having a terrible problem finding work…. chief reason ….. you guessed it…. she doesn’t speak Spanish. I live in Indio and the problem is the same…. these people come here and want to speak their own language and natually the dollar wins over principle and business owners require Bilingual employees (so they don’t have to learn Spanish) Mexican.

Weird, I was just reading about the Adams-Onis Treaty yesterday while reviewing turn of the 20th Century events of US presidencies, and the argument that Mexico used to discount American aquisition of territories via purchase and/or warfare first with Texas and later with the rest of our Southwestern States. WE were not the initial aggressors but aggressively defensive, entering territories peacefully and according to current treaties. When the Mexican government would abuse our colonists upon their successful enterprise in order to abscond with the improvements, and diplomacy with the Mexican government failed to achieve alignment to initial standards, leaving colonists with burdensome increased taxation or property rights reversed, THAT MEANT WAR. Even after we would win, we’d offer to pay the Mexican government for the lands won.

WIKIPEDIA:
The Adams-Onís Treaty of 1819 (formally titled the Treaty of Amity, Settlement, and Limits Between the United States of America and His Catholic Majesty, and also known as the Transcontinental Treaty of 1819, and sometimes the Florida Purchase Treaty) was an historic agreement between the United States and Spain that settled a border dispute in North America between the two nations.

Note well: our treaty was with Spain, not Mexico anyway. If Mexico wants to revert to Spain, that would be great so far as I’m concerned.

Finland was never been occupied by the Soviets. They lost a piece of territory in WWII but otherwise repelled the Soviets, winning the Winter War.

aengus on April 3, 2008 at 10:15 AM

Two things:

I love Tequila. Should I feel guilty?

Finland still looks like a giant, flaccid penis. That’s not Tequila talking…

LickyLicky on April 3, 2008 at 10:16 AM

Oh, Aztlan! I love the Chronicles of Narnia!

budorob on April 3, 2008 at 10:19 AM

Treaties don’t mean anything, who has legal sovereignty doesn’t mean anything and borders don’t mean anything (obviously), it all boils down to who has the ability and the determination to physically hold the real estate and right now Mexico has the determination and America has the betrayal of ability.

Has anyone verified if this is a valid ad?

I prefer Belgian Beer but Plymouth Gin with some tonic is nice when it gets hot.

Oh, Aztlan! I love the Chronicles of Narnia!

Haha!

aengus on April 3, 2008 at 10:37 AM

Well, just let those states vote on whether they want to be part of Mexico or part of the US. And, let the illegals vote too. Just guess how the vote would turn out? Think the illegals would be better off if California was part of Mexico? I know John McCain would be better off. Heh!

galynn on April 3, 2008 at 11:43 AM

Hmm. If I weren’t already a tee-totaller, I’d boycott them!

Tzetzes on April 3, 2008 at 12:02 PM

Here’s my P-Shop.

Also, anyone looking to boycott Absolut had best look in his or her liquor cabinet. I’d wager it’d be full of spirits owned or distributed by Pernod Ricard.

Better yet, let’s help the Mexican people take back their own country which is corrupt from top (the drug cartels) to the bottom, (the desperate people who risk their lives and break our laws coming here and staying here). Then, we won’t have to build a fence.
The other problem with adam’s plan is that if we annex Mexico the middle class will disappear (faster) by paying to improve their country, not ours. The globalist goal is socialism and the end of nationalism.
The map Absolut made is fact to La Raza and all 3 candidates have been kissing their commie butts. America: may it RIP.

If California became part of Mexico and seceded from the United States, Democrat presidential candidates would permanently lose 55 Electoral College votes, and never win the White House. In addition, Nancy Pelosi would not be Speaker of the House, and the Senate would be evenly split between the parties.

Then we could stop all the actors from Hollyweird at border crossings at Lake Tahoe.

Maybe Alta California in Aztlan isn’t such a bad idea.

Perhaps we should lighten up. Take a look at a couple of videos from their “In an Absolute World” campaign:

This one is about standing up to police brutality

This one is about conquering the moon

And then this one is about the benefits of swimming.

These are jokes, and so is the reconquista ad.

factoid on April 3, 2008 at 2:11 PM

Factoid, example one is about wouldn’t it be great if riots were non-violent. Two is wouldn’t it be cool if the moon was a disco ball and the whole world partied. Three is woulnd’t it be cool if swimming one lap made you thin, and this one says wouldn’t it be cool if Mexico conquered half of America. See the difference, and where American’s might be a little more offended by the last one than the others? What is funny about it?

ASimpleDad on April 3, 2008 at 2:29 PM

I have a really big mouth. I will tell EVERYONE I know to NEVER buy Absolut again and I will tell them why. I will also encourage boycotts of ALL restaurants/bars that serve this drink of satan. Big mistake, Absolut. Big. And STUPID!!
