On a related note, Iraqi government data show a 50% rise in violent deaths in March. "A total of 1,082 Iraqis, including 925 non-combatant civilians, were killed, up from 721 in February" and 540 in January. in March. The March figure (which does not include not include the 641 bad guys killed) compares favorably to the August 2007 peak of 1,800, but the trend is still unfavorable.
