The fact that they're talking about it is better for Sen. Obama than Sen. McCain? Huh? Only a Democrat thinks people are that stupid.

BTW~ Are the people really more anti-war now? Is there a majority clamouring to end the GWOT? The MSM hasn't really talked about Iraq that much lately except for the 4,000th killed. Says all you need to know about how much going in that direction will work.

MB4, I respect your opinion, but I just don't agree with the general outlook of the Buchanan-American Conservative folks, although I think they're right about some things.

They've all but endorsed Obama for president, and they regularly feature articles by True Conservative® Glenn Greenwald. It's certainly legit to have factions within a party, but I find I don't have much in common with the TCs. Agree to disagree, etc.

The Freeze - I agree. Use of "clever" name devices is juvenile and tiring. I seldom read a post past the first such occurrence. I wish worthwhile posters would get over that so I wouldn't miss anything useful.

IC, brighten up, Bro. You’re raining on my porch swing. The voters are not all imbeciles, although it’s hard to see sometimes. Look at the polls, and keep your powder dry; McCain is going to win the race, Bush is going to slap up some fence and keep us silly conservatives in line for the election, and we’ll come back in a couple years and piss and moan about McCain’s position on this or that.

McCain is going to win the race?

Nothing is certain.

I wouldn't discount the stupidity of the majority of the American voters.

We live in a Monarchy where the LOOK is king and the Media is the QUEEN.

MSNBC has started a new feature called "Teflon John." They are going to focus on examples of the media giving McCain a pass. I suspect they had a meeting and decided that their endless coverage of the Obama-Clinton infighting is bad for the cause. So they're going on the offensive. And they created this thing that plays into common antipathy to unfairness and entitlement.
It might also help if they got their viewership into the 5 digit numbers.

Even General Petraeus has put qualifications on “The Surge”.

Clearly.

Let me try it this way. If the surge went south in the court of public opinion, whose career would end right that minute? McCain's. Romney would survive and he'd cite all his reservations etc.

I'm sorry that Exxon and IBM no longer have a louder voice than you or I. Maybe we can get back to the good ol' days where they could give hundreds of thousands of dollars to a candidate. Oh, by the way these very large purses that you defend are a large part of the immigration problem that you cry like a bitch about.

You made a joke a “the surge” comment, so I assume you agree he was one of the initial authors.

I've given my opinion of the nation-building Iraq project a million times on HA so you must've come across it by now.

So that leaves us with the Border issue. I’ll end my response with this. If I who lives in the US, is comfortable with it, then you, a noble Irishman shouldn’t be outraged as MB4.

I'm not outraged, I just give my honest opinion. I don't like illegal immigration in any country, mine or yours.

He’s your next president aengus, begin the necessary preparations to get your psyche up to speed.

Not really. I don't like Obama or McCain, yet one of them will be President. My psyche has already adjusted to this fact.

MB4 hates John McCain. I think because he can't stand hispanics and Maverick supports comprehensive immigration reform. So, to make himself feel better about himself, he continues to badmouth a great man because he didn't get his way. I know its childish, but have pity on him. Look at it as a cry for help.

That was not what Romney said.

I know what he said. I know McCain was misquoting him. However, I believe that McCain correctly accused Romney of being less than fully committed to the surge. It was fairly obvious to me. I thought Romney made sure to mention time tables to hedge himself in case the surge would go down. He did it extremely well and it was hard to call him on that. But I do think McCain had a reason to be pissed.

It's in that spirit that I think Obama is in a similar situation. McCain never said "we will fight a war for 100 years". However, considering the reality, which is that Iraq is nothing like South Korea, Obama is well within his rights not to recite the convenient mantra of McCain but instead talk about what the real effect of his policies would be.

What's the Haha on wasteful spending?

He hasn't accepted $1 of earmarks unlike the hundreds of millions of most senators.

Being a War Hero to me is more than a policy issue, because I KNOW that when a decision is made to send troops that it is being done by a soldier who knows the gig. No offense to Bush, he was right to invade, but I do have more peace of mind.

You made a joke a "the surge" comment, so I assume you agree he was one of the initial authors.

I'm only thirty five and not old enough or haven't seen any evidence to support or deny your claim on his pro life stance, but being pro choice in the seventies wasn't exactly a posh position.

So that leaves us with the Border issue. I'll end my response with this. If I who lives in the US, is comfortable with it, then you, a noble Irishman shouldn't be outraged as MB4. He's a rabid neocon with no bend in his positions.

War Hero

That's a great measure of character but it isn't a policy position.

hates wasteful spending

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

pro-life

Good. But I read he's quite tepid on this issue and only adopted it to get elected in Arizona.

demanded “The Surge”

That was a great film. I can't wait until "The Surge 2" comes out.

Meanwhile, what about immigration? Legal or otherwise? Or is there any difference? He's agreed to build a fence... around his garden.

He's promised to consult with EU leaders before making any big decisions. Do you really want your POTUS consulting with that nest of vipers?

He's no good.

It is becoming increasingly difficult for me to tell if you are serious or just doing one big running April fools joke.

Not only did he vote twice against the Bush tax cuts, McCain colluded to sell out the most conservative of Bush’s judges In 1993, McCain voted to confirm the pro-abortion liberal Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

McCain also colluded with liberals to pass McCain-Feingold, a law that denies to Second Amendment folks and right-to-lifers their First Amendment right to identify friends and foes in TV ads before national elections. On ANWAR, too, McCain votes with the liberals, and on global warming he has moved toward Gore.

On controlling America’s borders and halting the invasion through Mexico, McCain collaborated with Senate liberals in the McCain-Kennedy amnesty, which was rejected only after a national uprising.

War Hero, hates wasteful spending, pro-life, limiting corporate influence so that you and I have equal voice, working across the isle instead of wasting taxpayer dollars arguing all the time, great tax record(regardless of bush tax cuts, see Allahpundit), demanded "The Surge". Yeah he's another bleedin' heart Lib, alright.
