Being a proud resident of Texas and Montana, I can say that Algore should have been in either today before asking for his handout of $300M. As usual, his timing is untimely.

Keemo, shhhhh, we in the "banana belt city" have tried hard to keep the actual stats of Montana a secret and you just went and blew it! I do have to laugh with all the influx of people that have never driven on snow and ice - after the first winter the house is up for sale. Actually, I was one myself not long ago, but the native I married took me out to an empty parking lot and let me practice slamming on brakes, moving the vehicle out of several inches of snow without getting stuck, and turning on ice packed asphalt. So far, I've had enough sense to stay home when it's not necessary to get out - but, tornadoes in Texas are a whole different ballgame. There is nowhere to hide, no place safe when one of those monsters hit. I spent the afternoon praying those monsters would break up and not harm those I love there.

I saw deer this winter in Northern Utah that would have starved trying to find forage in multiple feet of snow had it not been for local farmers sharing the livestock hey. The deer know something al Gore doesn't...that warmth promotes life. Only a complete fool would promote a campaign of hysteria associated with the earth warming a few degrees, which its not of course, unless it is...who cares. I choose life...

My Dad said he was getting snow.

I said "I know, I see a picture of it on HotAir."

Is it even possible to be more on top of things?

Thanks Cap'n

The temperature trends have been colder for the last year. This happens to correlate nicely with the low level of sunspot activity. Since the solar cycle isn't expected to get active again until early 2009, I expect the unusually cold weather to continue until then.

Good for you connertown! Your story reminds me of the time my then 3rd grader came home from school and informed my wife and I, that he had learned how to put a condom on a cucumber, and he also learned all about the Vagina and how baby's are made. I had a little different reaction than yours, but I must admit your reaction was the better one. We put our children into public schools with a sort of blind faith that these teachers and administrators will surely do the right thing; after all, if they don't they will surely get fired... Wrong...

Welcome to the club, Ed. Here on my hilltop in central New Hampshire, I just recorded the 176th inch of snow since December 1 2007. Our state capitol, Concord, where they keep the "official" snowfall records, now has over 120 inches-but they're 30 miles south of me and more importantly 700 feet lower in elevation.

On the other hand, to my north, Mt. Washington, known as the home of the world's worst weather (the highest wind speed on the planet, 231 MPH, was recorded there in 1934) has "only" received 170 inches of Global Warming this winter, instead of their usual 200-250 inches. The best guess is that most of the snowstorms this season were in cloud systems lower in elevation than the mountain's 6,288 foot summit.

Meanwhile, they tell us that it will be 55 degrees here tomorrow. Right now it's a balmy 33, and it just started to Gore again.

My 6-year old daughter brings home books to read each night for homework. The topic of one she brought home last week was environmental issue. Sure enough, there were two pages dedicated to global warming. It declared with certainty that human polution was the cause of global warming, and that it was causing snow and ice to melt, and a loss of homeland for both humans and animals.

I wrote a note back to the school, and heard that it was read and brought to the principals attention. So I feel like I did my part to fight against the fight against GW.

I hope the author of that book is eaten by a polar bear someday.

My only hope is that long winters in Montana continue thereby driving out the fair-weather Californians who, while locked up in their rustic log cabins, insist on big-box stores, paved roads and guard rails (or as I call them: Darwinian Rails).
Montana on March 31, 2008 at 11:33 AM

Typical small mindedness; let's look at some facts here Montana (as a fellow Montanan)

Summary Demographic State Data (and Source)
Population (2007 CB estimate.): 957,861
Population (2000 Census): 902,195
Foreign-Born Population (2007 FAIR estimate):
Foreign-Born Population (2000 Census): 17,840
16,396
Share Foreign-Born (2007 FAIR est):
Share Foreign-Born (2000): 1.9%
1.8%
Immigrant Stock (2000 CB estimate): 64,000
Share Immigrant Share (2000 estimate): 7.1%
Naturalized U.S. Citizens (2000 Census): 9,482
Share Naturalized (2000): 57.8%
Legal Immigrant Admission (DHS 1997-2006): 4,352
Refugee Admission (DHS 1997-2006): 143
Illegal Alien Population (2007 INS estiamte): 5,000
Projected Population - 2050 (2006 FAIR): 1,139,676

STATE POPULATION
The Census Bureau estimated that in July 2007 Montana’s population had increased by an annual average of about 7,625 residents since 2000 (to 957,861 residents). Over that period net immigration was adding about 290 persons each year (more immigrants arriving than leaving). During the same period there was a net annual average population gain of about 4,170 residents from net domestic migration (more native-born residents arriving than leaving). Net immigrant settlement accounted for 3.8 percent of the overall net population increase over this period, and that does not take into account the children born to the immigrants after their arrival in the United States.

Most of the immigration into Montana since the turn of the century, has come from an increase in "out of state" college enrollment. This dynamic is spread out pretty evenly between the two coastal regions.

The FEAR of immigration by montanans is so "small minded"...

Now, back on topic... I live in the Columbus region of Montana. I had one hell of a time getting to work today, only to find out that the road conditions are too dangerous to get to any of our job sites; turned around and went home. I have 6" of new snow at my place, with 2-5 inches more on it's way. Our winter started early this year, with zero degree temps and lot's of snow by Thanksgiving. Good season for our ski resorts, and a much needed solid winter for snow pack. Montana has been in a bit of a drought for the past 10 years or so; this winter has been good for the state.

Sounds like you will be shoveling "global warming" for at least several more weeks.

Here in Colorado have had one of the snowiest winters on record, especially in the mountains. Apparently, global warming mysteriously moves in erratic patterns like a phantom. Only turning up in places where disaster strikes or the temperature is too uncomfortable for the hypersensitive and spoiled people of the world that have no sense of historical context. If these people lived during 17th and 18th centuries, I'm sure they would find a way to blame mankind for the mini ice age that occurred. It's conceit & arrogance to think the climate change that has been occurring on this planet for millions of years is just now occurring because of us.

When is this global warming going to kick in? My globes could definitely use it here in MN. Somebody is really putting a lot of credence on a model that seems to be a bit faulty.

Sorry, benrand, she's still front and center at The Weather Channel, with her own weekly pulpit to sermonize against the flat-earthers.

The kind of warming we shovel in Minnesota.
Not exactly the kind of warming Algore is shoveling.

Better send a message to McCain though I am sure he won’t care. He is close minded and vindictive, he will do what is best to please liberals.

Still snowing in St. Paul. In fact it seems to be picking up. I think we should go back to the Looming Iceage paradigm.

Oh regarding that one hour lights out garbage.... we went out for a dinner engagement and left lights on in the house as well as outside the garage and walkway. Before leaving , I put Saran Wrap around the bottom of my garage lights with Vaseline smeared over the sheets. Yes, I know my neighbors.... Gee imagine when we returned how saran wrap was dangling from the lights and footprints all over......lol
