Dutch to prosecute Geert Wilders for “Fitna”?

posted at 4:30 pm on March 31, 2008 by Allahpundit

The source, RIA Novosti (via Nice Deb), is dicey but Radio Netherlands quotes the Dutch foreign minister as saying prosecutors are looking into it and the last line of this DPA report agrees. Scum:

The Dutch prosecutor’s office is preparing to take legal action against the maker of an ‘anti-Koran’ film in an attempt to ease tensions over the film’s release, the Dutch foreign minister said on Monday…

Although moderate Islamic groups have said the film is “nothing new” and have made appeals for Muslims to “react calmly and within the law,” the prospect of a backlash in the Islamic world remains a distinct possibility.

Clarification: Moderate Islamic groups within the Netherlands are acting calmly. In the showroom “moderate” Islamic state, 53 MPs — almost half of parliament — are calling on Abdullah to cut diplomatic ties with the Dutch for not prosecuting Wilders or killing him or whatever it is fascists would prefer to see done here. Follow the Expatica link up top and see what form of bold resistance the Dutch prime minister has decided to take as Iran’s cretinous officials hint darkly of “consequences” to come.

Update: In other headlines, tiny minority of extremists not so tiny.

So the mohammedans get what the want, freedom of speech taken away from infidels.

Tony737 on March 31, 2008 at 4:33 PM

What the hell would they prosecute him for? All he did was show quotes from the Koran, video of psychos calling for murder, and then said Stop Islamisation. Good lord.

CP on March 31, 2008 at 4:35 PM

Actually, this might be a good thing. Put the whole charade out in a public trial,..similar to the Canadian HRC. Make the Dutch government tell the world all about qualified free speech, and why those qualifications exist.

I was wondering the same thing myself… This is all pretty much public footage that is available everywhere… and the Koran is the Koran, publicly available…

He didn’t lie. He didn’t make stuff up. This is gonna get interesting…

Yep, free speech isn’t really free after all.

Yeah, I love the part where the hackers claim a massive atrocity by Christians, but go on to say you won’t find it anywhere on Google, search engines, the media, or anywhere else. You simply have to trust them that it happened.

amerpundit on March 31, 2008 at 4:47 PM

I’m much less worried about open jihad, and much more worried about the insidious creeping sharia-ism.

The lack of testicular fortitude on display is disappointing. Good on LiveLeak for putting it back up.

Maybe a trial would be a good thing to drag out just exactly what is factually inaccurate in the film.

FOR WHAT??? Tell me a single charge that doesn’t contravene Article six of the constitution of the Netherlands!

Dhimmi pantywaist sycophantic pieces of sputum. NOW is the time for some riots, but not by Muslims!

That’s like asking vultures to “remain calm and eat in an orderly and professional manner” around the carcass.

Geert, you magnificent Bastard!

I wouldn’t go so far as to say this is exactly what he wanted. He knows world opinion weighs heavily at this time on the side of the rop. He’s trying to change that by opening discussion. But, as I said earlier, all he did was hold up a mirror.

Connie on March 31, 2008 at 5:08 PM

I, or rather the Lord, beseech you as Christ’s heralds to publish this everywhere and to persuade all people of whatever rank, foot-soldiers and knights, poor and rich, to carry aid promptly to those Christians and to destroy that vile race from the lands of our friends. I say this to those who are present, it is meant also for those who are absent.
Moreover, Christ commands it.

Allah hates you this I know
For the Koran tells me so
Get the weak Dutch dhimmis on our side
They are weak but we are strong

Yes Allah hates you! Yes, Allah hates you! Yes, Allah hates you,
The Koran tells me so.

Allah hates you, you will die
First get the Dutch to prosecute your ass up to the sky
Then say the salat, chop off Geert Wilders’ head,
Eat falafel, go to bed.

Yes, Allah hates you! Yes, Allah hates you! Yes, Allah hates you!
The Koran tells me so

Aleph on March 31, 2008 at 5:27 PM

Niko, thanks for the link. Great exerpts:

Wilders: The political elite has demonstrated with astonishing clarity that it learned nothing from the debate over the Muhammad cartoons. It bows to the Islamists. For example, our government has developed evacuation plans for our diplomatic missions abroad. That’s just an invitation to militant Muslims.

Wilders: I want to provoke a discussion. Certain Koranic verses have moved their followers to commit the most abhorrent acts. Where is the imam who stands up in the Netherlands and says, for us, homosexuals are entitled to equal rights and everyone has the right to abandon their faith.

Wilders: Moderate Islam? That’s a contradiction. It’s going to be a long time before we see a new Koran, an equivalent to the New Testament. Attacks don’t happen in the name of Buddhism or Christianity; nor do homosexuals get beaten up, as happens daily in Amsterdam.

Wilders: It’s true, they don’t carry the Koran under their arms. But it’s at home. And their fathers go to the mosque. They don’t tell their children that beating women or believers of other religions is not allowed. That’s why we have to push harder for a kind of Leitkultur, a guiding culture. Not a monoculture but a culture that draws on our Christian, Jewish, humanistic traditions and that poses a challenge to the Islamic problem. This is patriotism, not nationalism, this is pride in our own culture.

Like the Ezra Levant case in Canada, bring this (prosection) on!

Wilders: Moderate Islam? That’s a contradiction.

I just spit soda all over my desk. Thanks a lot, Geert.

MadisonConservative on March 31, 2008 at 5:34 PM

Undreamed-of numbers of mass graves were found in Europe, in 1945, filled with Jews and other nonconformists who thought they could somehow reason with or placate Hitler, before things got out of hand–some graves not even found yet, I’m sure. I think history will certainly repeat itself if we ignore the new Islamic radicalism. The aftermath of an unchecked rise in radical Islamofascism will no doubt be similar to what we discovered sixty years ago. We’re not very good at learning from history.

RBMN on March 31, 2008 at 5:45 PM

I have a system, very much like Geert Wilders’. Only difference is I don’t shoot movies about the Islamos, I just shoot the Islamos. Adios.

Tuco on March 31, 2008 at 5:53 PM

Wilders: Moderate Islam? That’s a contradiction.

Mohammed, the Messenger of Allah’s eternal word, was not moderate. No “Moderate Muslim” can legitimately tell another Muslim to stop doing the extremist things Mohammed himself did.

The Koran condones violence and coercion to further the Islamic agenda. People whom we may call “Moderate Muslims” are labeled hypocrites by Allah Himself in the Koran.

As ex-Muslim author Ibn Warraq says, “There may be moderates in Islam, but Islam itself is not moderate.”

Connie on March 31, 2008 at 5:08 PM

The more I think on it, and the symbolism at the start and end of Fitna… the more I think he did…

I reference the countdown at the beggining of the movie, and at the end, as the Fuse on the head of the Mohamed cartoon burns down… the same cartoon that caused those riots in the past… he was predicting riots, and outrage, and making the point that it was predictable based on their own Koran…

Romeo13 on March 31, 2008 at 6:05 PM

These are the same harassments and death threats that dogged Oriana Fallaci until her own death by cancer. Like Wilders, she documented and described (hers in print) the atrocities committed in the name of Islam through literal interpretation of the Koran. Both object to the dhimmification of their homelands.

Much of the complaint of both Wilders and Fallaci centers on the unchecked immigration, blatant illegal invasion, self-contained Muslim communities unwilling to abide by national law, imposing their own sharis, and worming sharia into existing national law by using a country’s freedoms against it. Weak-spined public leaders, thinking to demonstrate tolerance, succumbed to political correctness and virtually gave/are giving away many of their towns and cities to a religion that holds them in contempt.

The decline of Western culture will go out in a whimper, not at bang, at this rate.

preparing to take legal action against the maker of an ‘anti-Koran’ film in an attempt to ease tensions

Well there goes the rule of law out the window.

People are to be prosecuted according to the law, not to “ease tensions”.

Using criminal law in this manner leads to things like the Reign of Terror, and the law ceases being law at all. It becomes an instrument for vendettas and political control.

The Dutch quislings in the press and politics are trying to Pim Fortuyn their rival, Geert Wilders.

Paint a guy- who would be thought of as a leftist, progressive ultraliberal, in America- as a crypto-fascist extreme-right maniac.

A dangerous radical who threatens to reincarnate the familiar anarchist-wetdream of Hitler.

And hope for a “nut” (animal rights extremist, or whatever) to remove this “right wing” thorn from their soft, but deadly multiculti Paw.

While schizophrenically guarding Wilders day and night with another part of the government.

Wilders needs the tightest security, while these cowards should be dunked in the nearest canal by the real Netherlanders.

(Freedom of thought is their DNA.)

And mocked by the Dutch nation as EU nuchs.

onlineanalyst on March 31, 2008 at 6:12 PM

Fallaci had to flee Italy and the EU and Switzerland, where she was subject to arrest. She came to NYC to die. Only in the last few weeks before her death did she return to her native country. Nevertheless, she was a political refugee from western Europe. Who would have thought such a thing possible.

We couldn’t help Ayaan Ali much it seems. Perhaps we’ll be able to help Wilders if he needs to flee Holland.

This is the reason that our ‘gov’t’ should limit, not increase the number of Muslims immigrating to the US…I know that the FBI has all the sleeper cells in this country monitored, but a little common sense would help us feel safer. (Sarcasm.)

From the Jawa Report: “Gotta add this comment from Bluto: Don’t call me violent or I’ll kill you!”
