(2) headline stories for the Goracle...

FORT KENT, Maine — It’s official. The 2007-08 snow season in northern Maine is one for the record books. Just in time for the start of spring.

The old record of 181.1 inches of snow recorded in Caribou, set in 1955, was shattered by noontime Friday when the National Weather Service in Caribou recorded 182.5 inches of snow since the start of the season.

It didn’t stop there.

Heavy snow and winds gusting up to 50 mph continued throughout the day, creating blizzard conditions around much of northern Maine and causing numerous vehicle accidents and headaches for municipalities already overextended with snow removal budgets.

Former vice president Al Gore will launch a three-year, $300 million campaign Wednesday aimed at mobilizing Americans to push for aggressive reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, a move that ranks as one of the most ambitious and costly public advocacy campaigns in U.S. history.

The Alliance for Climate Protection's "we" campaign will employ online organizing and television advertisements on shows ranging from "American Idol" to "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart." It highlights the extent to which Americans' growing awareness of global warming has yet to translate into national policy changes, Gore said in an hour-long phone interview last week. He said the campaign, which Gore is helping to fund, was undertaken in large part because of his fear that U.S. lawmakers are unwilling to curb the human-generated emissions linked to climate change.

"This climate crisis is so interwoven with habits and patterns that are so entrenched, the elected officials in both parties are going to be timid about enacting the bold changes that are needed until there is a change in the public's sense of urgency in addressing this crisis," Gore said. "I've tried everything else I know to try. The way to solve this crisis is to change the way the public thinks about it."

Umm, do you think McCain, who's clearly trying to tap into the Green Scene, would really draw voters against The Goracle?

The same Goracle who created the internet?

The same Goracle who started the green movement in the first place?

(both attributions are equally accurate...but people still believe this cow manure!)

This does concern me.

Gore tried in 2000 and lost (barely) and the Green Scene has grown enormously since then.

I've been sitting here anxiously awaiting a new episode of "How do they Do It?" on the Science Channel. They were going to do a full show on how the DNC chooses a presidential candidate. I waited all day only to find out that it was canceled due to extreme and arcane complexity. They said it was so complex, convoluted and possibly corrupt that it defied explanation. That, and the threat of a lawsuit by the DNC, who claimed that they could not afford for Democrat voters to have any actual insight into the inner workings of the Party of the People.

But, all is not lost... I am now free to watch the 35th rerun of "Global Warming, how Conservatives have DOOMED us ALL". I never get tired of that.

What could be less democratic than a major political party nominating a candidate for President who didn’t receive a single vote in the primaries?

If write-in candidates are allowed, I'm sure Al Gore got at least a dozen votes across the country.

The Democratic Party bigwigs created this problem. Start with the idea that they are only concerned with obtaining raw, naked power. Doesn't matter if the opponent is Republican or other Democrats, the objective is obtaining power. Unfortunately (for them), two candidates are neck-and-neck with the party faithful. Both candidates are unwilling to compromise for a unifying ballot that most in the party could be confortable with. The objective of the party bigwigs is to win in 2008. Backing one candidate or the other WILL alienate a good part of those already committed to one candidate or the other. It does not surprise me that The Goracle's people are involved in this. Some say Al is too busy making money, or that Al is on a save-the-earth kick. BULL! Al is and always has been about Al. More money? He has all he needs and them some. Al wants and needs attention. He'll be pushed as a party "unifier". HE has a Noble Peace Prize. HE has an Academy Award. HE was Vice-President, just a heart beat away from the presidency. What other candidate can say that? HE can be billed as "Savior of the Party, Savior of the World, Savior of the Nation". I can already hear the alleluia chorus in the background! And just think, the icing on the cake for Al will be that he can do all this, and get political revenge on the Clinton's as payback for their 'support' in 2000. Remember: HE's rested, HE's Ready!!

Ya know, perhaps you haven’t heard…Gore won the Nobel Prize and the Academy Award.

Ah, yes, the Nobel Prize. So he's in fine company - with Rigoberta Menchu, who won for her imagined autobiography, which turned out to have been woven out of whole cloth by one of her leftist feminist friends.

Seriously all, I have GOT to stop reading this while drinking coffee. I keep having to clean the monitor and the keyboard after failed attempts to swallow and howl with laughter.

The problem with Democrats is demographic. GWB, let's face it, has been and always will be weak in terms of appeal. But even he beat Dems twice. Dems appeal to rich white yuppies, Blacks, and various grievance groups. That dominates in big coastal cities, and even interior cities. Where that's pretty much who lives in those places.

They lose in exurbs and suburbs where middle class, mostly white people live. Identity Politics only makes those divisions stronger. Since Dems pursue "punishing" policies against White middle class people on: crime, home ownership, gun ownership. affirmative action, trade, immigration.

Gore is just the natural expression of Apple Computer Yuppiedom of the Democratic Party. They don't have the pickup truck candidates who could win the middle class demo.

Try to think of Gore in the context of the dream ticket of Obama/Clinton. The only way to save mass democratic voter defection is to sweet talk Hillary into taking the lower half of the ticket. Gore might be able to broker that deal.

That would be a boon for McCain. The three of them could be the worst the democrats could have put up in a hundred years. It would be worse that Jack Kemp bailing out on Dole in 96.

In 2004 the MSM declared their biased reporting would give Kerry 16 points and he still lost.

And people wonder how the Democrats lost in both 2000 and 2004 to Bush.
Seixon on March 30, 2008 at 11:01 AM
I wonder why the elections were so close

Ropera on March 30, 2008 at 12:18 PM

Because in both elections, the "objective" mainstream media was totally in the tank for the Democrat party. Especially in 2004, where Newsweak's Evan Thomas admitted before the campaign had even started that his media colleagues would add 10 to 15 points to Kerry's poll numbers. That they did.

This thing has the potential for being far worse than 1968.

Only if Bubba Billy winds up bring the one to light the fuse, and odds are, he will be.

Two former Gore campaign officials have told The Sunday Telegraph that a scenario first mapped out by members of Mr Gore’s inner circle last May now has a sporting chance of coming true.

A Gore-driven strategy to steal the election without the inconvenience of lawyers-- or campaigning?

The nominee will probably be Obama. I don’t think Hillary has given up her dream for Prez. If it’s Obama, and McCain wins, watch for Hillary to run again and tell the Dems that they wouldn’t have lost the election if only they’d nominated her.
Meryl Yourish on March 30, 2008 at 11:56 AM

And the l-o-o-o-ong, perpetual campaigning of Madame Hillary! will begin the day after the general election should she lose in 2008.

Maybe the Dhimmis will rethink their objections to McCain's "100 years' war". /s
