Wait. So you’re going to piss off Clinton by taking the nomination from her grasp, then piss of Obama by taking it from his grasp, then nominate a guy who already lost an election and is so full of crap it comes out his ears?
…..
Popcorn! Getch your popcorn, here!

How would he get the nomination? Even if he got every single superdelegate, he’d by over 1,000 off from winning.
amerpundit on March 29, 2008 at 10:50 PM
Bring it on! Ha Ha! This would be the crazy of the crazy so let them do it. It’s unbelievable that they would rerun an election.
Unfortunately, this will never happen.
One could only hope. Has Algore lost weight?
thatcher on March 29, 2008 at 10:51 PM
Imagine this:
Obama gets the popular vote and the delegates. Hillary close behind. And the democrats choose Gore as their nomineee without getting a single vote in the primary? That’d be such a hoot; its unbelievable.
lorien1973 on March 29, 2008 at 10:55 PM
Clearly, it would only be possible if Obama and Clinton agreed to step aside. What if they formally withdrew? What would happen to their pledged delegates? Anybody know the rules?

I think that after the first ballot, the pledged delegates from the various states are free to vote as they like. That doesn’t mean, of course, that they’d vote for the Goracle.
But it’s interesting to contemplate an Algore-McCain debate. Would John McCain then have the smarts to challenge the Algore on ‘global warming’? Or would he fall into the trap of being less than fully committed to the gospel according to the Goracle, and thus guilty of heresy?

How the heck will they do this?
I have heard mention of Democrat “Party Elders”, and wistfully visualized them, these saintly figures, so richly enrobed, high atop Mount MyAss, waiting for the call to descend amongst the mortals to deliver their “special” kind of ’short bus’ wisdom…
Yea! Verily! Can I get a “hosannah”? Or at least a “doo-wah diddy”?
So, out of The Goracle’s capacious backside, these “Elders” will yank a miracle? Anoint him the Prez-to-be to the chirruping of cherubim and the plucking of harps?
Let’s say that works… Then what?
They give the Veep spot to…who? Obama as a “not quite good enough” consolation prize? To Hillary as a “shut the hell up, bitch” bribe?
Oh THAT’s gonna work!
Who writes this stuff? Seriously!
heldmyw on March 29, 2008 at 11:03 PM
Even Democrats can’t be this dumb.
I suspect it is the same buyer’s remorse the GOP is going through after bitter hate-filled idiots foisted John McCain on the party. Democrats are looking for some other alternative the same way Republicans can’t stand the idea of having to vote for a mean bitter traitor.

It ain’t goin’ to happen. But if it does it would be delicious. The “Global Warming” threat has been reduced to ‘climate change’. More and more scientists are finally finding their balls and coming out with the ‘correct’ results of weather over time. Al Gore will go down with the hot Earth hoax and the Presidency (again) if he were to go forward with this thought.

Why don’t they just put up a big cage at the convention, lock all three inside, and the last one standing is the nominee? It would certainly get better TV ratings than a normal convention. Heck, they could put it on pay-per-view and raise campaign money.

HortonHillary Hears aWhoGoreTheCulturalist on March 29, 2008 at 11:34 PM
Why would anyone think that Al Gore could win a presidential election?
People tend to forget that although Gore did manage to win the popular vote, he only won that by one half of one percent. And he (just like Clinton twice before him) couldn’t rustle up 50% of the vote.
Gore shouldn’t have won the popular vote by just a few hundred thousand out of 100 million voters. He shouldn’t have even needed Florida to win the election. He should have at least managed to win his home state.
Bush was a virtual unknown, he was the governor of Texas and the son of a president who had failed to win a second term. Gore had been the VP of a very popular president for eight years and a senator before that. He had behind him the unstoppable political machine that the Clintons had created. He was being handed what most Americans thought was the best economy in the history of America. The press were firmly ensconced in his camp and were proclaiming that we were living in a golden age.
He should have won. He should have mopped the floor with Bush.
But he didn’t. He blew it.
Would anyone but a Democrat put their hope in such a failure?

Only in America baby….

OK, you do realize we’re talking about Democrats, right?
There are no rules.
logis on March 29, 2008 at 11:44 PM
This is indeed a dilemma. Democrats have heaped cultish, god-king status on two of the three prospective nominees. Ignoring the truly frightening tendency of the left to establish personality cults and lavish such worship on mere mortals while excising traditional religion from the public sphere, from a purely practical standpoint this will only cause more discord.
The minions of Obama would never forgive the establishment for coronating Gore, and Gore would lose a lot of status with another failed run. Hillary would remain standing, just as we all knew she would from the beginning. I still think Hillary wins the nomination. I don’t know how it will happen, only that it will.

TheCulturalist on March 29, 2008 at 11:54 PM
Great theater, and I am sure Gore stays up every night practicing his acceptance speech, but its not going to happen. He would need to pull all the votes from Obama delegates and enough from Clintoons to put him over half. But not one single Clintoon delegate will vote for Gore. Not one. Why? Because he’s not a girl. If he took the nomination away from a girl, Hillary supporters would never vote again.

To even consider this would indicate to me (IMHO) that they have some nefarious scheme to totally steal the general by voter fraud . Although we may squeal with glee over their seemingly idiotic behavior, they also have the potential to put this country into a state of chaos that will be exploited to maximum effect by our enemies.

The Green movement is, like it or not, popular right now, and The Goracle is right in the thick of it. I’m not clear on why Algore would give up a cushy job to go back to low-paying government service.
Love him or hate him, Gore coming out as the nominee would throw McCain’s camp into chaos.

Really Al Gore is like the 2007 Patriots. I mean ok yes the Pats would have won except for that fluke catch. (Kind of like Al would have won if it wasn’t for Florida.) However that misses one piece, it should have been close at all. I mean Al should have been able to crush Bush badly with the advantage of being the incumbent at that point in history. (Just like the Pats should have destroyed the NY/NJ Giants given the two respective records.) However in both cases it’s their fault they didn’t destroy their opponents. Say what you will of both, if they didn’t let it be close in the first place none of those little events would have mattered.
