Is something up with the Internet?

I thought it was just my connection but Flip’s having precisely the same problem. Is this just a New York City thing or is something wider going on?

Dudes/Dudettes,
The internet is like the US highway system. Traffic happens, accidents happen. Telcos and ISPs have regional problems. The interweb ain’t broke peeps.
cannonball on March 28, 2008 at 8:54 PM
Arizona here and all good.
wowrob on March 28, 2008 at 8:54 PM
I had similar problems this morning with site loading slowly and Google Calendar not responding.
irishspy on March 28, 2008 at 8:55 PM
Maeby u kan broke teh internets…by saying that teh internets is broked?
malan89 on March 28, 2008 at 8:55 PM
Yeah, that was my original guess. Probably just an issue with your ISP. Or, ya know, the internets might be broked. IDK

WITH THE INTERNET BROKEN I DON’T KNOW IF YOU CAN HEAR ME SO I’LL SHOUT.
DID ANYTHING HAPPEN I SHOULD KNOW ABOUT?

They don’t even have the internet here!
Kasper Hauser on March 28, 2008 at 9:04 PM
I’m not sure yet, but is there any new homemade sex video of Paris Hilton out on the Internet?
Usually when it’s out, traffic is congested for at 6 hours.
The last four videos caused a disruption of services in the Defense Department.
Indy Conservative on March 28, 2008 at 9:04 PM
Maybe more videos of the ObamaX pastor were just uploaded to the giant faraway servers.
faraway on March 28, 2008 at 9:05 PM
OMG. Was that a joke or was some moron actually selling that?
malan89 on March 28, 2008 at 9:07 PM
Someone asked where in PA I’m at, I’m in north central, far away from the Soviet of Philly.
doubleplusundead on March 28, 2008 at 9:09 PM
Any chance you have a virus, AP? I had a problem for a couple of days where it would work for a while and then constant time-outs. I’d have to reboot and it would work for a while and then the same. I should have looked for a virus first instead of last, but I hadn’t had a virus in years.
Dusty on March 28, 2008 at 9:10 PM
Reppin’ da 570, eh?
malan89 on March 28, 2008 at 9:10 PM
I couldn’t connect to the Battlefield2 server earlier to get some trigger time. Everything else normal.
Cuffy Meigs on March 28, 2008 at 9:10 PM
Lucky are those people who don’t have Internet, especially in Africa.
They are not suffering like us, waiting for a page or an action porn movie to download.
They still live with the word of mouth.
Those lucky bastards!
Indy Conservative on March 28, 2008 at 9:11 PM
You might be low on coolant. Just pour a gallon of anti-freeze on top of your laptop.
faraway on March 28, 2008 at 9:14 PM
Maybe the problem is someone is in the wrong lane,
on this internet highway!
canopfor on March 28, 2008 at 9:15 PM
Of which internet do you speak? There are many.
TheSitRep on March 28, 2008 at 9:16 PM
Allahpundit, when was the last time you changed your hoses?
Remember, it’s all about the tubes, always the tubes.
Indy Conservative on March 28, 2008 at 9:19 PM
No problems here in the Southeast.
Log on March 28, 2008 at 9:20 PM
Grand Canyon? Elk Herd? Route 6? Where’s a nice town to live in there? I know its beautiful, but politically it’s still PA. Still, it’s a beautiful and wild state. Would like to live there except for politics.
JiangxiDad on March 28, 2008 at 9:22 PM
Yep.
And as you might imagine, it’s only $19.99! Act now!
Doesn’t look like they’ll double the offer though.
Rosmerta on March 28, 2008 at 9:23 PM
I was having a lot of problems in Georgia last night but back in Charlotte all seems well..
Guardian on March 28, 2008 at 9:24 PM
Er, I meant … yep, someone’s actually selling it.
Or at least taking your money in exchange for something.
Rosmerta on March 28, 2008 at 9:24 PM
This site shows where or why there may be connection problems.

U Tube eats up the entire internet bandwidth seen in 2002. The net is exploding and there is a limit to be reached soon. You will start to see slowdowns worldwide.
Sounder on March 28, 2008 at 9:28 PM
Aren’t you in NY? PA is waaaay more conservative than NY, with the exception of the Soviet of Philly and Pittsburgh. You’ll find most of PA comfortably conservative, with the exception of Philly, Pittsburgh, and probably Scranton area. Really, anywhere in central PA or rural PA will treat you fine.
doubleplusundead on March 28, 2008 at 9:28 PM
Allah
Since you and Flip are both using RCN (according to flip), and some sites are working it sounds like a DNS server issue.
Try changing you dns ips to the following
a) 208.67.222.222
b) 208.67.220.220
F15Mech on March 28, 2008 at 9:30 PM
Situation finally normal, at least for me. Suddenly and completely, at about 9:30.
flip on March 28, 2008 at 9:34 PM
AP, here is the web page that explains your technical difficulties.
Apparently, the person in charge of the New York branch of the World Wide Web had to resign due to a sex scandal and he was replaced by a blind man.
Terrie on March 28, 2008 at 9:34 PM
yep that might help but they ( open dns) don’t play well with Google or the other way around.
TheSitRep on March 28, 2008 at 9:37 PM
Yeah AP,
2135 hours EST in South-Central Ontario and my internets are all wonky.
Pages are slow-loading or simply not connecting.
I can’t even get speedtest.net to check my connection speed. It hangs after I click to start the test.
I’m thinking global warming.
Oh, and I’m running a virus scan to be safe.

Here in Lewisburg by way of Charlotte, NC and I haven’t met a single non-Hillary supporter. You also have to consider that I’m in a college town (bucknell).
By the way, if you can view this piece of musical genius…your internets aren’t broken.
malan89 on March 28, 2008 at 9:48 PM

malan89 on March 28, 2008 at 9:48 PM
Some day my friend the dream will come true.
Things cannot and do not remain the same forever.
We can only hope.
Indy Conservative on March 28, 2008 at 9:52 PM
Guess it was a bad DNS server. Figures I was working on moving a pair of sites from one server to another today.
steveegg on March 28, 2008 at 9:53 PM
Fine in Florida.
Typhonsentra on March 28, 2008 at 10:05 PM
Perhaps ex. Gov. Spitzer is having some slap-and-tickle-time with a very expensive young lady in a room full of servers playing “housewife and cable guy” and her undergarment got caught in one of the hard drives.
We know it can’t be his socks….

THE CHOSEN ONE on March 28, 2008 at 10:36 PM
Lewisburg area, you’re actually fairly close to me. Yeah, Lewisburg is kind of an anomaly in the area, lot of people there are with the college or the hospital, so I’m not surprised they like Hillary, they probably think they know how us plebes should live life as much as she does.
doubleplusundead on March 28, 2008 at 10:37 PM
I always blame it on vIsTa.
jerrytbg on March 28, 2008 at 11:19 PM
Roger that on google, I have had problems with google loading the last couple of days.
Everything else is good to go.
winemkr on March 28, 2008 at 11:28 PM
F15Mech is onto something - DNS server issues - also suspected by others, savvy in these matters. If so, will solve itself in time by self-replication (hierarchical structure).
Entelechy on March 28, 2008 at 11:31 PM
Maybe somebody already said this, but before you all start tinkering with things, shouldn’t you call Al Gore? If anyone can help, it’s him, he invented the thing!

check it out…. 100% packet loss in a few places.. that is your problem…. just normal heavy traffic due to some routers not getting a full can of oil
ilitigant on March 29, 2008 at 12:12 AM
Last night a little after 1am (Eastern), Hotair was loading reallllyyyy slowly, and then when it did load it didn’t have any CSS. I figured someone was just doing maintainance because michellemalkin.com wouldn’t load either, but other sites were fine.
29Victor on March 29, 2008 at 12:14 AM
This happened a couple of days ago for my company. I think AT&T is either upgrading or something is wrong. But it’s them, I believe.
Vanceone on March 29, 2008 at 12:16 AM
I’m no techie, but now that you mention google, could the problem have anything to do with energy conservation effort called Earth Hour.
