Change you can Xerox: Obama lifts a line from Hillary?

Tuzla and Wright are fading and we need some new discord to play with. Let’s see if we can’t get those old, moronic plagiarism accusations going again. A tipster notes this line from Obama’s speech yesterday in North Carolina. Sound familiar?

“George Bush called this the ownership society, but what he really meant was ‘you’re-on-your-own’ society,” Obama told a town hall meeting here, tying McCain to a president whose popularity is low. “John McCain apparently wants to continue this.”

That was a number-one hit for Hillary on the collectivist charts last year, as you may recall. I’m happy to believe he stumbled onto this veddy, veddy clever wordplay himself, notwithstanding the attention it got when she used it. Think Team Hillary will be quite as magnanimous? Or have they finally accepted the fact that they’re all singing from the same songbook?

Here’s video. 35 seconds in.

I kinda like the “you’re on your own society” mentality.

Government social assistance has never really solved anything anyways.

MrSteve on March 27, 2008 at 9:20 AM

Not nearly as embarrassing as Obama’s racist, anti-American views and lack of experience.

PBoilermaker on March 27, 2008 at 9:22 AM

Ha she mentions “no bid contracts to Halliburton”. May want to check your husbands record there toots.

Wha…?! Are you kidding? I haven’t laughed like this in years!

Jaibones on March 27, 2008 at 9:26 AM

Maybe they both are coordinating this stuff now? Or is John Edwards pimping out his old slogans? I knew he was sad that he didn’t get the nomination, but I never would have dreamed that he’d be starved for cash- forced to write shtick like some common huckster. Did his billion square foot mansion need a new roof or something?

NeoconNews.com on March 27, 2008 at 9:28 AM

McCain shouldn’t attack them individually, he can so easily tie the two together and knock them both out. Problem is that I think he genuinely likes and respects Hillary but not Obama. He’ll run a better campaign against Obama but pull punches against Hillary.

It might not be fun for you to watch, but the longer this goes on, the better for all of us.

Self Reliance…what a concept!

JetBoy on March 27, 2008 at 9:42 AM

So Bush expects people to be responsible for their own futures, be responsible for their own success, and believe people should get to keep the wealth they’ve accrued instead of having to redistribute it?!

amerpundit on March 27, 2008 at 9:48 AM

Do and say anything to get elected.

Plagiarism is legitimate in that case.

Voters don’t care anymore. Many idiots made up their mind.

In other news, Anna Nicole Smith jumped out from her grave in ecstasy after learning from the Drudge Report that her nude passport picture was uncovered at the State Department. On the other hand, Pamela Anderson sued Matt Drudge for not linking to her latest homemade sex tape with Donald Trump.

Shocka. Not really. If the Messiah can lift lines from his buddy D. Pat, I’d expect him to lift lines from Glacier.

“A we’re-all-in-it-together society”? Really? Didn’t she lift that from Marx?

I can’t wait for the Obamaesque ‘the-government-owns-you‘ society he keep promising. What a refreshing change that will be.

Laserjock on March 27, 2008 at 10:16 AM

Obama is running against George Bush, according to a speech in NC. When will these creeps learn.

“you’re-on-your-own’ society,”

…..I only wish it were so.

America was respected world wide because we were viewed to be self reliant, frontier people. But, the victim mentality set in and helplessness became the name of the game. And boy, what a epic disaster it has produced for the US. We are so helpless that we can’t even attempt to control our borders or enforce our laws.

The performance of our government is borderline criminality.

I would propose a new political party, but the population has shifted so far from the self reliant to the helpless that the helpless have way more people voting and it would be a waste off time.

Obama rips off just about everybody but his enablers in the press, especially the NY Times, will always say that anything Obama speaks is profound and vital. Roger Cohen, the Times apologetic guilt ridden white liberal columnist, was at his best today. He was so effusive and over the top in his praise for Obama’s Philly speech and so lavish and loving in his praise for Obama that Cohen seemed libidinous.
In his Philly speech, Obama ripped off President Kennedy’s inaugural address. JFK ended his speech by saying “Here on earth, God’s work must truly be our own”. In his Philly speech, Obama referred to “doing God’s work here on earth” in his Philly Speech. This is about as bad a ripoff job as you can get. In the candidate’s debate in Texas two months back, Obama ripped off Jimmy Carter. Jimmy Carter had the trademark line: “A government as good as its people”. Obama said “I want a government that is worhty of its people”. Someone should do a youtube video of Obama ripping off presidents (not that the MSM would dare mention it).

Larraby on March 27, 2008 at 10:55 AM

just wait untill they grant amnesty to 20 million illegals. What do you think that will do tho the voting pool? I suspect it will wreak havoc. Just look at Los Angeles. If you don’t live in a gated community or have security watching your house, you are putting your life on the line.

I just can’t understand why all the candidates are so hell bent on anarchy.

Ann on March 27, 2008 at 9:56 AM

Yup. It’s all hot air’s fault.

Hillary is so innocent and hasn’t done a thing to stir up political poo. Obama is also not to blame at the least. All the democrat operatives, and pundits, they are as innocent as the wind driven snow and tingles that come up your leg.

It’s all hot air. You are so smart Ann. I hope that you always impart your wisdom here. And remember, we’re always laughing with you, not at you as it looks. Keep telling yourself that Ann.

So if Bush is responsible for the “you’re on your own society”, what are the Dems offering?

The “Mommy Fed will hold your widdoe hand and wipe your widdoe butt” society?

The “we-own-your-ass” society.

29Victor on March 27, 2008 at 11:51 AM

So, GWB is offering the “be an adult and take care of yourself and your family” society.

I guess that means the Dems are offering the “stay forever a 3 year old” society.

I recall an old television ad where old guys met in a field to duke it out, and the voiceover was lamenting that we didn’t solve things that way–leaders actually fighting instead of sending young men to die for them. As things get uglier here, perhaps we could arrange a death cage tag team match, pitting Hillary and Bill against the Messiah and his bride?
