OK, to respond to that, another modern analogy:

Barabbas: The notorious prisoner from the Roman perspective equals the freedom fighter from the Judean revolutionary’s perspective.

Which goes back to my original point: Part of the mob wanted Jesus dead for claiming himself the messiah, total sacrilege in Judaism. Part of the mob were also likely Barabbas’ supporters among those supporting revolt against the Empire, since he was on “trial” that day also. Given the choice between a blasphemer and a freedom fighter, the mob’s choice was probably easy given the prevailing way of thinking about God and the world at the time.

Going after Obama is like shooting ourselves in the foot quite frankly. He can be beaten on his record, we do not have to chase after a monster like Wright to get it done.

Hillary on the other hand is capable of doing so much more, she really wants to be the President – come hell or high water – I think we can all safely assume.

I am one of the ones who thinks Rush is wrong on this one regarding crossing over and voting for her. Why embolden her?

And the constant bantor about Wright only turns off the Independents – against those who are doing it – you can see proof of this in Hillary’s numbers from today. Moderate everyday American voters who choose not to align themselves with either party hate this kind of torch carrying demagoguery, it’s just turns people off.

It behooves us and The GOP to steer away from the Wright drama and focus more on her misguided memories of grandeur, which are factual.

People are much more inclined to see her as a liar and Obama as a victim, because of Wright.

I think the GOP and McCain are much better served if the voting Independents see her as the liar.

Sorry if I offended you, based on your earlier posts I thought you were an Obama supporter, my bad. However, I think McCain will be strong against either Obama or Hillary. All I know is if McCain isn’t elected I’d rather have Billary in office than Obama.

Within reason McCain will be strong, but the Clintons are not within the normal realm of reason, about anything, I do not trust them, thus my point.

If McCain is up against Obama, McCain will win hands down.

Sorry, but I really do not want Hillary as the next President actually. I firmly believe that would be a death knell to the country.

If Wright is Obama’s moral compass and mentor, how can Obama’s ties to Wright not have legs? A “moral compass” and “mentor” have a huge influence on a person. This hate filled, racist minister is Obama’s spiritual advisor. Why would Obama still be in that church if he didn’t agree with Wright? It’s not like Wright’s views were a secret.

Exactly, you can learn a lot about someone’s character, agenda, and convictions by learning about who their mentors, spiritual advisors, and friends are, therefore one can only logically conclude from the fact that since the Obamasiah has looked to Rev Wrong for his spiritual guidance, friendship, and viewed him as his mentor for more than 20 years it’s safe to say Obama is made of the same cloth as O’ Rev Wrong.

Jesus wasn’t killed for any religious reasons. He was felt to be a threat to the established gentry. The fact that they were all Jewish has nothing to do with it. The Romans certainly did not feel threatened by one more wild eyed prophet in a land full of them. The whole point here is that Wright’s analogy of a lynching is neither correct nor relevant. Jesus did have a trial in the manner of the day certainly not by our standards but he was tried nevertheless. Wright’s assertion that the Romans lynched him is just wrong.

Barabbas was described as a notorious prisoner. Pilate practically advocates to the crowd for the release of Jesus and only capitulates to the crowd because a riot was brewing. The Roman soldiers were only doing as they were trained (in their own brutal blood thirsty way), but they were ultimately acting at the behest of the Jewish authorities. The Romans could care less. They just wanted everyone to calm down, do business, and pay tribute.
