The obligatory “Wright smears Italians, sort of” post

Perish the thought that any particular ethnic group might prefer certain ingredients in its cuisine.

“(Jesus’) enemies had their opinion about Him,” Wright wrote in a eulogy of the late scholar Asa Hilliard in the November/December 2007 issue. “The Italians for the most part looked down their garlic noses at the Galileans.”

Wright continued, “From the circumstances surrounding Jesus’ birth (in a barn in a township that was under the Apartheid Roman government that said his daddy had to be in), up to and including the circumstances surrounding Jesus’ death on a cross, a Roman cross, public lynching Italian style. …

This is one of those very stupid insults whose offense lies not in the actual words themselves but in the intent that lies behind them. It’s like calling someone Asian a “rice-eater”: Nothing wrong with liking rice, nothing factually incorrect about suggesting that rice is a staple of Asian cuisine, but the meaning is pejorative by design if not in effect and thus does a moronic putdown become fighting words. Why, simply by inflecting the right part of a sentence, even the dumbest adjective can become a vicious rip. Right, you beard-grower?

Follow the link to CNS to see the secret U.S. government/KKK konspiracy laid bare. Exit question: Obama’s ties to Wright may not have legs with the general population, but what about within certain demographics?

Obama is also related to Robert E Lee, Brad Pitt and Winston Churchill.

Genealogist Christopher Child said that while the candidates often focus on pointing out differences between them, their ancestry shows they are more alike than they think.

“It shows that lots of different people can be related, people you wouldn’t necessarily expect,” Child said.

Obama has a prolific presidential lineage that features Democrats and Republicans. His distant cousins include President George W. Bush and his father, George H.W. Bush, Gerald Ford, Lyndon Johnson, Harry S. Truman and James Madison. Other Obama cousins include Vice President Dick Cheney, British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill and Civil War General Robert E. Lee.

Aprilorit,

They seem to have forgotten his other relatives…Raila Odinga, Muammar Qadaffi,Mahmood Ahmadinejad, Usama Bin Ladin. Oops!

Honest mistake?

Oh God, are we at the he is a Muslim juncture again??

This is all a connection to slavery and I would think the bed wench syndrome depicted so colorfully in Mandingo.

The man is related to 6 US Presidents, which is a hard pill for the Far Right Fringe to swallow.

But they will have to take it down as they dish it out - with a hefty serving of piss n’ vinegar.

If Wright is Obama’s moral compass and mentor, how can Obama’s ties to Wright not have legs? A “moral compass” and “mentor” have a huge influence on a person. This hate filled, racist minister is Obama’s spiritual advisor. Why would Obama still be in that church if he didn’t agree with Wright? It’s not like Wright’s views were a secret.

Exactly, you can learn a lot about someone’s character, agenda, and convictions by learning about who their mentors, spiritual advisors, and friends are, therefore one can only logically conclude from the fact that since the Obamasiah has looked to Rev Wrong for his spiritual guidance, friendship, and viewed him as his mentor for more than 20 years it’s safe to say Obama is made of the same cloth as O’ Rev Wrong.

I’ll take Hillary over Obama any day, and that says a lot about how much of a fraud and how anti-American I think Obama is! You are the company you keep AprilOrit and Obama has kept the company of Rev Wrong for more than 20 years, Obama’s wife even longer and she’s made it all too obvious in her speeches how she feels about our country…Obama for POTUS…NO THANKS!!

Liberty or Death on March 26, 2008 at 8:07 PM

Uh Oh! I am both Italian AND a beard grower! Excuse me while I pick the garlic out of my beard. I will now attempt to guess what “white” group Rev. Wright will pick on next.

Ahhh, o…k…I was voting for McCain actually and feel that Hillary is harder to beat because the Clintons are a bit suspect.

Your rant about electing Obama is charming, but not for me.

The schoolyard style taunt of Italians says alot about Wright, he added the “insult” in because he couldn’t bear to not slam Italians when talking about him. No doubt this was his compromise with the eds after they asked him to take out the original “wop bastards” he described the ancient Romans with.

Popeye’s Chicken, Churches Chicken, Browns Chicken, or Kentucky Fried Chicken?

Lately, I have been a fan of the ready-to-eat Rotisserie Whole Chicken, from the supermarket. MMmmmm.. :)

There is actually an Italian place near me with a wood fed brick oven that makes the best buffalo wings on Earth (maybe garlic in in there too). I would like to bring down the Rev for some wings and have him explain his racial theories to the Italian lads that toss the two cords of wood a day around. They would be fascinated. My treat……

Sorry if I offended you, based on your earlier posts I thought you were an Obama supporter, my bad. However, I think McCain will be strong against either Obama or Hillary. All I know is if McCain isn’t elected I’d rather have Billary in office than Obama.

Within reason McCain will be strong, but the Clintons are not within the normal realm of reason, about anything, I do not trust them, thus my point.

If McCain is up against Obama, McCain will win hands down.

Sorry, but I really do not want Hillary as the next President actually. I firmly believe that would be a death knell to the country.

AprilOrit on March 26, 2008 at 11:41 PM

I believe people need to start scrutinizing Hillary more closely, as she will be the harder opposition.

Going after Obama is like shooting ourselves in the foot quite frankly. He can be beaten on his record, we do not have to chase after a monster like Wright to get it done.

Hillary on the other hand is capable of doing so much more, she really wants to be the President - come hell or high water - I think we can all safely assume.

I am one of the ones who thinks Rush is wrong on this one regarding crossing over and voting for her. Why embolden her?

And the constant bantor about Wright only turns off the Independents - against those who are doing it - you can see proof of this in Hillary’s numbers from today. Moderate everyday American voters who choose not to align themselves with either party hate this kind of torch carrying demagoguery, it’s just turns people off.

It behooves us and The GOP to steer away from the Wright drama and focus more on her misguided memories of grandeur, which are factual.

People are much more inclined to see her as a liar and Obama as a victim, because of Wright.

I think the GOP and McCain are much better served if the voting Independents see her as the liar.

Tommylotto said “Barabbas was described as a notorious prisoner.”

OK, to respond to that, another modern analogy:

Palestinian Jihadi Suicide bombers: The Israeli’s terrorist is the Arab’s freedom fighter and martyr.

Barabbas: The notorious prisoner from the Roman perspective equals the freedom fighter from the Judean revolutionary’s perspective.

Is only one true, or does each side understand two different relative truths?

Which goes back to my original point: Part of the mob wanted Jesus dead for claiming himself the messiah, total sacrilege in Judaism. Part of the mob were also likely Barabbas’ supporters among those supporting revolt against the Empire, since he was on “trial” that day also. Given the choice between a blasphemer and a freedom fighter, the mob’s choice was probably easy given the prevailing way of thinking about God and the world at the time.
