#1: A giant column of black smoke was visible near the U.S. embassy in Baghdad’s Green Zone on Thursday after an apparent mortar strike, a Reuters reporter said

…Mortar rounds crashed into the heavily fortified Green Zone for the third straight day, injuring three U.S. government employees, all U.S. citizens, said U.S. Embassy spokeswoman Mirembe Nantongo.

12 mortars hit the Green Zone starting at 10 am until this report was prepared at 2 pm, Thursday, said Iraqi Police. The U.S. Embassy said no one was injured.

#2: Fighting has spread to Sadr’s stronghold in Baghdad and other cities, with at least 50 people killed in the clashes countrywide since Tuesday, according to Iraqi officials…

…#7: An official source in the Electricity Ministry said that most power stations stopped functioning because of direct armed attacks in central and southern Iraq in the last two days. “Most power plants and energy lines were attacked in the last two days by mortar shells and machine guns,” the source, who asked for anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq. The attacks damaged several stations and suspended the work there,” he added. “The Ministry, through the operations room headed by Oil Minister Karim Wahid, continues its work to have the power restored,” he also said.Baghdad has been suffering under a blackout since yesterday, which disturbed the daily life of citizens…

That being said, I havent seen Sen. McCain’s speech from above. But the quote itself was a shot in the arm for me.

It is the reason Jon McCain will win the election.

Regardless of the reasons, we are in a war.

So are the good Iraqis.

It is paramount that we build a new alliance based on the conquering of evil.

The words I read above are the words I want everyone to hear in the world. To abandon the Iraqis at this junction would be the death of the soul of America.

That is why the good Iraqis and its supporters will win.

That is why John McCain will be the next President.

He may be a republican, but he is no conservative.

I refuse to vote for a liberal who was selected for us by crossover democrats.

But so does Iraq. It’s their independence after all. I have long been distressed that our men and women are fighting for Iraq’s freedom more than Iraqi’s are. That has started to change, but it must continue in a big way.

But surrendering to terrorists is the worst play. We haven’t been called “paper tiger” since shortly after 9-11.

I don’t want either, but I have always expected more out of a Republican than I have out of a Democrat.

This is so true.

Among other things I cannot believe he’s talking about global warming. Doesn’t he have staff that keep up with some of the science announcements about this that have been coming out over the last few weeks? I know he may not have the time to keep up with things, but what about his advisors??? This underlines the importance of the people with whom you surround yourself.

Carter didn’t destroy the country in 4 years, and in fact helped very much to lead to Reagan, and Clinton didn’t destroy the country in 8 years.

Don’t you go being even more pessimistic than I am.

That being said. There are alot of you Republicans “posted aboved” that state you can’t vote for McCain.

“If you stay home and don’t vote”, “don’t think/know that OB or HC will be one heck of a lot worse”.

I don’t like it, but I’m going to “Hold My Nose” and vote for McCain.

If you don’t vote for him, the next SC will totally change America into a “Socialistic HELL HOLE”.

If by “BroncosRock” you mean the Denver Broncos, then no matter where you stand politically, you have a friend in me.

Basically, I’m gonna feel the same way I felt about Pres. Clinton if either one of these three get elected: “Wake me when it’s over.” I’m taking my kids and my money and going underground. Not gonna make any extravagent moves or purchases. And hope that the government doesn’t need to bail out anymore financial institution. For people here who will say that voting for McCain will allow the Republican party to nominate another country club republican is wrong. In 4 years after McCain finish his only term in office, he will step down and we will have our candidate finally in Gov. Bobby. We just have to endure 4 years of nighttime with president McCain then we will have morning in America again.

Classic you speak truth to power. McCain is the new Republican party. There are many more folks like you and me out here who don’t buy the hype about McCain. Line up all the endorsements it doesn’t change the fact that he is wrong on immigration, taxes, global warming, and has called Republican religious leaders “agents of intolerance” while staying silent about liberal religious leaders such as Rev. Wright. I could go on, but why?

Read up on the issues and vote your conscience.

Roughly half of eligible voters don’t vote in any given presidential election. Those that are comforatable voting for McCain should. Those who aren’t may decide not to- not because they want Obama or Hillary to be President, but because McCain doesn’t represent their beliefs. That’s perfectly legitimate, but perhaps best kept to one’s self.

McCain is the nominee. I don’t like it, and a lot of you don’t either. Going on about how you personally won’t vote for him, or berating others for not supporting him changes nothing and only decreases the signal to noise ratio.
