Alert The Media: CNN appearance tonight Update: Video added

I’ll be a guest on Campbell Brown’s Election Center tonight on CNN, which runs from 8-9 pm ET. My segment will include Ezra Klein of the American Prospect and Amanda Carpenter of Townhall. We’ll have a roundtable on the latest developments in the presidential campaign, which means I’ll be spending the next couple of hours reviewing the Hot Air posts from today. Our segment should start at 8:40 or so, and at the very least, I hope I can get a better screen shot to use for my show posts each day.
We’ll leave this as an open thread for the show, and later either myself or AP will try to get the video.
Update: I’ve added the video below. Amanda will join me on tomorrow’s Ed Morrissey Show to talk more about this appearance, and on the campaign in general. Be sure to join us at 3 pm ET tomorrow …
Also, I have to say, CNN treats its guests very, very well. I had a great time doing this. And if you ever saw my first television appearance on MS-NBC about three years ago, you’ll know that this has been an acquired taste for me. You could sum up my first foray on television with two words …. rigor mortis.

A meeting of the minds … or something.
Jaibones on March 26, 2008 at 6:03 PM
I’m working graveyard this week and that’s awfully close to bed time! I’ll tune in to root you on Ed, and see if/how they spin it.
Ordinary1 on March 26, 2008 at 6:04 PM
I’ll watch- I’ll even pretend to tune in because I want to show loyalty to fellow Minnesotan Ed, instead of watching only because Amanda Carpenter is so darned cute.
Hollowpoint on March 26, 2008 at 6:04 PM

Sorry, but Campbell Brown could show up in a halter top, micro-mini and high heels and the lady still puts me to sleep.
pilamaye on March 26, 2008 at 7:49 PM
“Idol” is on at 9. You can catch the segment in it’s entirety. I’m watching Laura Ingraham on the Factor till about 8:35. Let’s all hope Kristy Lee Cook finally gets voted off. Carly and Chikezie all the way!
malan89 on March 26, 2008 at 8:11 PM
CNN? Is that still on the air in the U.S.?
oakpack on March 26, 2008 at 8:17 PM
Aw, man, why the hell would you want to quit coffee? Since I’ve quit drinking alcohol, my dependence on caffeine has magnified. The good thing is I rarely do any harm when I’m on caffeine.
mikeyboss on March 26, 2008 at 8:24 PM
Oh, and that is a great, natural-looking pic of Ms. C.
mikeyboss on March 26, 2008 at 8:25 PM
Amanda Carpenter is incredibly intelligent & attractive, but I’m concerned about her continued use of ’smack’. Amanda, get help!
clancy_wiggum on March 26, 2008 at 8:26 PM
Ooops, there was supposed to be a /Redeye reference in there!
clancy_wiggum on March 26, 2008 at 8:26 PM
I say just stick with Amanda’s picture.

Great finish, Ed. You done us proud.
mikeyboss on March 26, 2008 at 8:57 PM
Good job Ed. That Ezra is the spitting image of a crapweasel…
Zorro on March 26, 2008 at 8:57 PM
about your final word, that is.
geckomon on March 26, 2008 at 8:58 PM
Ezra’s tactic is when Amanda is about to make her point, talk over her. Seriously Ed, stick with Amanda’s picture.
oakpack on March 26, 2008 at 8:59 PM
We need this Captain Ed/Amanda tag team again.
malan89 on March 26, 2008 at 8:59 PM
Ezra’s tactic? Try the entire American Left’s tactic.
malan89 on March 26, 2008 at 9:00 PM
Summary……. Amanda: What about Black Liberation Theology?……. Ezra: What are you talking about? Nothing to see here……. Ed: Wait, Obama has no record, running on judgement. 20 years in this Church?……Amanda was the easiest on the eyes. Good job by Amanda, and Ed. Ezra not so much.
chief on March 26, 2008 at 9:06 PM
Yes! Amanda Carpenter! I was wondering when she would be discovered by HA. Can you guys please post the video for us guys who ditched our TV’s?
gxpgxp on March 26, 2008 at 9:26 PM
What?! I think Amanda and MKH are AP’s two favorite topics of discussion.
malan89 on March 26, 2008 at 9:32 PM
True, MKH and KP get alot of airplay, but I havent yet seen Amanda Carpenter on here. Guess I’ve missed those posts. Anyway, AP, we need some Amanda!
gxpgxp on March 26, 2008 at 9:42 PM
BTW,
For those fans of zombie… He (or she?) has a new essay posted with some great photos and commentary…
http://www.zombietime.com/iraq_war_fifth_anniversary_protest
gxpgxp on March 26, 2008 at 9:45 PM
This was in the “Headlines” section a few days ago. I always love Zombietime’s dispatches. It’s his vicious commentary that does it for me. And the stupidity of Bay Area Libs.
malan89 on March 26, 2008 at 9:52 PM
You’re right. KP is probably AP’s only true dream crush.
malan89 on March 26, 2008 at 9:52 PM
Graci for the video, Ed. You done good, but you’re no Amanda (not that I would expect you to be).
steveegg on March 26, 2008 at 11:20 PM
We had to watch the commercials too?
Ed, get some sleep dude.
Just kidding. Great job. Clear and concise unlike the other two guests.
Hog Wild on March 26, 2008 at 11:22 PM
Wow, Campbell said “I know” to your point, Ed. Only Ezra is dumb enough to believe Obama.
SouthernGent on March 26, 2008 at 11:24 PM
Yeah, Amanda rocks. I hope that she becomes happier with every breath she takes.
I love how the left try to say that Obama’s relationship with Wright, his personal preacher, is the same as pastors who merely endorse a Republican candidate. Needless to say none of the people the left try to equate to Wright come close in anti-American rhetoric. This is as much of a problem as if a member of Congress attended KKK meetings on a regular basis. Would Ezra have a problem with a Republican attending and supporting local KKK meetings? What ‘exactly’ would he have a problem with? If Ezra can answer that question, he can answer the question of what people have a problem with Wright’s statements.
We do need more Amanda. Her arguments are always eloquent and on point. And she’s hot as heck. And I don’t feel guilty crushing on her because she’s not married. . . even though I know she’s dating some lucky dude.
ThackerAgency on March 26, 2008 at 11:24 PM
Isn’t Weight Watchers a diet? *gears are grinding*
BTW, nice job Ed. Amanda C. is beautiful and smart.
p40tiger on March 26, 2008 at 11:25 PM
Awesome way to make the point at the end! I’m gonna be using that one…
BTW, KP has been wearing waaayyyy too much makeup on H&C. She didn’t used to wear so much, she looks a lot better without it.
/just sayin’
bikermailman on March 26, 2008 at 11:29 PM
Yea I haven’t watched much of AI this year(i watch most of the other years.. I kind of felt obligated to catch up on this season) Chikezie, got voted off tonight.. I didn’t see Tuesday nights show so.. I really can’t say one way or the other.
Chakra Hammer on March 26, 2008 at 11:29 PM
Yeah, I was watching Chris Paul dismantle LeBron James with 20 assists in his win tonight so I missed it live. Thanks for the video.

I’m glad to see Amanda key in on the BT angle. Hannity has barely brushed on it, Rush not at all. Glenn Beck is the only one (that I know of) who has been digging into it. I did some digging around myself, and it ain’t purdy. Marxist to the core.
bikermailman on March 26, 2008 at 11:31 PM
That was a great coda, Ed. As for the screen shot, it would be a little formal. Personally, I’m partial to the jovial “About” photo over at CQ.
eeyore on March 26, 2008 at 11:36 PM
Obama talking about a 1/2 minute sound clip?
What about the sound clips that he himself makes?
Typical White person. BWAHAHA
Chakra Hammer on March 26, 2008 at 11:41 PM
Nope. I have been doin WW and am down 20lbs. Its just learning to eat right. Nothing is off limits, you just learn to eat responsibly.

Good job Ed.
Livefreeordie on March 27, 2008 at 12:06 AM
Nice tie, Ed!
Way to go. I just wish they’d given you all more time to talk. Well, maybe not Ezra, he doesn’t need it what with talking over Amanda.
Rosmerta on March 27, 2008 at 12:14 AM
Good vid, good job Ed but a bit painful to see CNN put two of the conservative movement’s best against a left-wing middleweight. Looks like Brent Bozell III won this one!
This keeps up, we may have to ask for a fair fight once in a while to keep things interesting… :-).

To answer Ezra’a question: yes, I do believe that both Obama and his disgusting, angry wife are sympathetic to Wright’s view of US history and our government.
Sean68 on March 27, 2008 at 12:47 AM
It really doesn’t matter if Obama believes what Wright is preaching. He does support and enable it though.
If he doesn’t believe it, he is guilty of supporting and enabling hate in order to get elected. If he does believe it he is a loon. Either way he shouldn’t be PoTUS.
Even in his speach he asked for everyone to forgive and tolerate this speach since Wright was still mad about things that happened 40 years ago. This is how Obama expects to bridge the races?
Reverse this once, if a Republican listed a Grand Kleagle of the KKK, who happened to be 70 years old, as his mentor would Obama accept that as okay, since the Kleagle is just acting on beliefs instilled in him as a small child? No, of course he wouldn’t.
Just a side note, in the above paragraph I had to specify that you had to be a Republican canidate since apparently it is okay if you were yourself a kleagle in the KKK and are elected to the Senate as long as you are a Democrat.
Buford on March 27, 2008 at 1:13 AM
Shocking to see MSNBC actually have a thoughtful discussion on a liberal candidate issue.
The more Black liberation theology gets put out there for Americans to learn about the more they will see how destructive and pervasive it is.
Its the political correctness bacteria coursing its way through Americas gut.
Another instance of sunlight being the best disinfectant.
Ed I thought you did great and more Amanda anytime she did great too.
Speakup on March 27, 2008 at 2:03 AM
Is Obama saying that because his spiritual leader and mentor only uttered racist comments on a few (Than what was actually recorded as evidence) occasions that somehow their impact and meaning are diminished and therefore should not be considered? Help me here Ya’ll.
Words are paramount and windows into the soul.
Examples: Ma’am its a boy! sort of…
I love you, Kinda…
Claypigeon on March 27, 2008 at 3:34 AM
Are you saying CNN are the ones that framed Eliot Spitzer?
Shy Guy on March 27, 2008 at 3:38 AM
Is it me or does Ed look like Jerry Mathers around 30 years ago?
mylegsareswollen on March 27, 2008 at 3:39 AM
Kinda weird knowing Campbell Brown is the former girlfriend of Saudi spokesman and apologist Adel Al-Jubeir and is now married to Dan Senor.
It would be helpful if the networks could put up a disclosure and chart with all of their relationships prior to uttering a word.
For example, Claire Shipman Jay Carney are married and both were commentatrors on This Week With George Stephanopoulos.
I’m just say’n
moxie_neanderthal on March 27, 2008 at 6:18 AM
Doesn’t the left get tired of trotting out effeminate, lisping liberals to make their points? Klein is another hilariously self-fisking weenie.
What’s after Beta-male? Omega-male?
Jaibones on March 27, 2008 at 7:55 AM
It had to be said. We were all thinking it.
sheesh on March 27, 2008 at 8:34 AM
Klein: “Do Americans really believe that Obama shares Wright’s radical views”
Answer: In the absence of any substantitive legislation, sponsorship or record we are forced to evaluate the man purely on his background and associations. It’s intellectually dishonest to compare McCain/Falwell to Obama/Wright, but it’s the tactic the left is trying to distract the media and it will probably work for their supporters. If McCain had been sitting in Falwell’s pew for 20 years, had a close and personal relationship with him, considered him part of his family and designated him as a spiritual and political advisor, then the argument holds. As it is…not so much.
Not a new point, but just had to be made once again.
(Sat through most of the commericals in the clip before realizing…what am I doing, I don’t have to watch that!)
pecan pie on March 27, 2008 at 8:58 AM
And this isn’t even true either. Falwell apologized for the comment immediately after he said it about 9/11. That’s the comment they always equate to Falwell about America bringing 9/11 on itself. . . Falwell APOLOGIZED IMMEDIATELY and included the caveat that NO MAN KNOWS GOD’S WILL. He specifically said that the DAY after. Falwell was not a hateful person. He was a Baptist preacher.
Now, can you see Reverend Wright apologizing for ANY of his statements?
And the Christian thing is appropriate in terms of comparing Wright with the KKK as well. The KKK is technically the ‘Christian Knights of the Ku Klux Klan’. Just because you call yourself something doesn’t mean that you are representative.
ThackerAgency on March 27, 2008 at 9:09 AM
Nice final words Ed. I hope you get a lot more opportunities.
brtex on March 27, 2008 at 9:28 AM
Well, I mean really. By far the most masculine spokespersons in the DNC are their women, some of whom I find very easy to … admire.
But is this really that one-sided? I mean KP and … Jane Fleming? That’s it?
Jaibones on March 27, 2008 at 9:46 AM
Well helloooo Amanda Carpenter.
Geronimo on March 27, 2008 at 9:49 AM
Good show, Ed, putting nObama in the nutshell.
maverick muse on March 27, 2008 at 10:29 AM
I have no doubt that Obama is a whitie hating racist. Most politically active Black democrats usually are. With so many black people unable to move upwardly in the US economy, they have to blame somebody.
Pseudo victims don’t have it in them to blame their own performance even though deep down they know who’s to blame. A classic example was New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina.
The Super Dome crowd put that city government in to maintain the vote farming payola. But, when the going got tough, the local government was standing around like a bunch of cows and utterly useless. But, the victim mentality had them trained to blame a whitie. Look at Kanye West’s remarks.
saiga on March 27, 2008 at 10:36 AM
When honest blacks like Ward Connerly or Bill Cosby speak the truth, the race pimps like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton go wild. They just can’t accept an equasion that does not focus on white racism.
When you add the pandering white “say anything to get elected” liberals like Hillary into the mix, they just reinforce the myth that all the problems blacks have worldwide can be traced back to whitie.
Stark, frank, and honest conversation on race is impossible, even for honest black people with a different view.
saiga on March 27, 2008 at 10:44 AM
Yup. Plus, Amanda Carpenter is teh hot.
Jaibones on March 27, 2008 at 11:04 AM
Capt: You da Man!
Ok, you need a better title like Amanda. What’s with the suit? How about a special Capt’s Hat? Kinda like Tom Landry. I liked the backdrop!
PS: Could you get me Amanda’s phone number?
luckybogey on March 27, 2008 at 12:28 PM
An adult Obama selected this church over all others. And this church has an explicitly anti-American and racialist (if not downright racist) ideology. This disdain Ezra displays for people who impute a similar mindset to Obama makes him look absurdly out of touch. And I’m sure Ezra and his fellow Obama-fetishists in the media would be screaming if this were a Republican who belonged to a white racist church for 20 years. Another blindspot the lefties have is that most of them, at least privately, have no problem with the things Wright said. Read the left-wing blogs. Half the lefties are saying Obama shouldn’t be linked to these comments, and the other half are saying Wright was right. So there you go. Ultimately the American people will decide the matter.
Sean68 on March 27, 2008 at 1:31 PM
