Network Solutions apparently does have something significant to say on the matter of the fitnathemovie.com site in their statement. According to the statement, they appear to be changing their policy regarding site content. They are now requiring that Wilders review the proposed site content with NS for compliance with TOS before they will allow it to be posted to the site! They have also thrown the ball back into Wilders’ court and blamed the suspension on him by claiming that he has not responded to their requests to provide the content for review. Apparently now all politically incorrect site content for NS hosted sites needs to be approved by NS before posting. They then go on to contradict themselves by claiming at the end of the statement that they don’t

…preemptively censor content.

…proactively police the content of our customers sites.

NS site owners or potential customers beware!

The actual movie “Fitna” doesn’t even matter now. It can’t be anything other than a disappointment. He’s a politician not a real director, it will probably stink. His point is being made now, and will continue to be made as long as the resistance to his movie remains. The best possible outcome is that “Fitna” is never seen.

If Wilders has to become something like a guerrilla on the Internet in order to distribute his film, I’m sure he’ll do it, but only in the end. As I’ve said, in order for his point actually to be made, the people must eventually actually see the film. But before resorting to a guerrilla’s strategies, it seems he’s going to exhaust every means by which one would ordinarily release a film. He’ll thereby (as Allahpundit has said) gather all the evidence available in support of his point (still to be made at large) that Koran-abiding muslims, as such, are intimidators. Thus, all of the “viral” tactics of distribution that we consider so obviously useful will subtract from the value of the film if Wilders uses them prematurely.

Concerning bit torrent of Fitna…you’d have to be careful. People could repost the movie and stick a virus in the torrent. It could turn out to be a huge hassle, especially for people who don’t know how to use bit torrent.

He doesn’t need to ask anyone. All he has to do is put it up himself. If it is the only file, he’d have a dozen copies out in about an hour. While that was elapsing, the exponential of that dozen, depending on the number of files the dl’ers were sharing, could be up to 144. The next hour could conceivably be the equivalent of 1700 mirror sites.

With that, the *.srt (translated subtitles) files will start showing up by enterprising downloaders. VLC is the easiest I’ve seen to run both files concurrently.

As it is supposed to be a 15 min video, then it is likely no more than a 100Mb file or will be converted to such in no time.

It will also hit all the file dl sites after that — rapidshare, megaupload, etc.

He doesn’t need to make DVD’s to give away.

I got an email back from the Network Solutions Blogger.

Dear [RushBaby].

Thank you for your e-mail. At Network Solutions we value the feedback from customers and the community.

Over the last month, Network Solutions received a number of complaints regarding the website FITNATHEMOVIE.COM. At the same time, our hosting customer for this site also made several public comments regarding their plans for the use of this site. In response to the complaints and the customer’s public comments, Network Solutions has made repeated requests to discuss the matter with our customer. We are still waiting to hear from our customer. In the interim, we have temporarily suspended the site.

During this suspension, the customer has full access to the site. If the customer provides Network Solutions with the content and it is determined that the content does not violate the Acceptable Use Policy, then the customer will be permitted to post the content. However, if it does violate our policy, then the customer is free to post the content using another number of other avenues, but not with Network Solutions.

Network Solutions is by no means taking any action to limit freedom of speech or to preemptively censor content. Our company also does not proactively police the content of our customers’ sites. If a complaint is received, however, we do conduct a review to determine whether the site’s content violates our company’s Acceptable Use Policy.

I hope this clarifies our position.

From the little tech knowledge I have, the domain is now pointed at NS81.WORLDNIC.COM & NS82.WORLDNIC.COM. Those are the nameservers for Network Solutions. It looks like NS temporarily pulled it.

It is illegal for any US company or company with any US based facility (Like servers on US soil) to Host or even to provide DNS services to terrorist organizations.

we’ve been reporting to cybercrime.gov each case of a domain that is owned by Hizbollah and other terrroist organizations that is being hosted in violation of the law.

For you non techies out there, anyone can have a website hosted offshore on a non US site, but since estimates are somewere around 75 to 80% of global internet traffic goes though the US, most DNS (Domain Name System) servers are on US soil.

Kinda hard for people to surf to your site if all the DNS servers have removed your Domain from their list.

I don’t see why he doesn’t just ask people to host Fitna via BitTorrent from home. It would decentralize the rage quite a bit and it creates a distribution service that can’t reasonably be attacked. Hell I’d host it for at least a month till enough people got a hold of it – let Islam deal with over a million people file sharing it to high heaven.

I agree with DakRoland – Azureus would let your average shmoe with a 128Kb upload reak havoc on the likes of CAIR. Joyous.

This film is only supposed to be 15 minutes, IIRC. Once someone has it, you can convert it to Divx format, which should reduce the file size enough for people to email it to one another.

BIT TORRENT!

This is a legal and safe way to distribute the movie by a non-centralized file sharing net. It’s easy to setup and use.

PC Users: Use Azureus, or any number of free Bit Torrent clients.

Mac Users: Use Transmission (free and very easy to use) or Azureus. There are a handful of others, but these two seem to work best.

Once you get some people seeding the film, it will spread like wildfire! Get the film out there! People NEED to see why he has been silenced.
