A Republican President ordered the overthrow of their decades-long dictator. A Republican President stood his ground and insisted on them being free. The Republican Party lost too much political capital to count in order to make sure they don’t end up dead in ethnic cleansing. The only Presidential candidate willing to stand by and make sure they become secure, stabilized, and stay free is a Republican. A significant chunk of the U.S. Armed Forces are Republican.

Does anyone else see the problem here? I’m not sure they truly know what it takes to be free. Of course, it could be worse. The Iraqi politicians could take a month long recess right when political progress must be made.

he should start with a speech and also make sure to drive the point home repeatedly, especially during the debates later this year.

I second this request. If it seems that they “mis-translated” one, then they may have mis-translated more.

They like those two candidates because they view them as weak. The only people in that part of the world looking to do the U.S. any favors is Kuwait and Isreal.

We’re 230 odd years on from declaring independence from the Brits, and as far as I can tell, our government is also far from unified. That must make us a failure as well.

The last part was interesting to me too, but for another reason. I found it interesting that the young lady at the end says she doesn’t believe Iraq is ready for democracy, yet says that Iraqis are unified. She doesn’t understand where the divisions in her society are coming from and conveys that there is no animosity between religious sects. I think she needs to take more than political science and it’s sad if this is what Iraq will produce as political leaders. They only repeat the International Press’ take on things: everything wrong in that country is because of the U.S. not Iraqis themselves or their religious intolerances, that a Democrat is better than a Republican, the U.S. needs to get the hell out of dodge, but even if they do it’ll STILL be the U.S.’s fault if things go to hell in a hand basket; and best yet, EVERYTHING is the U.S.’s fault.

About a yeah ago a local channel here was translating a spanish speaker about illegal immigration/day laborers, etc. The guy clearly said “Gringos” but somehow that didn’t make it through.

CNN evidently ‘no likey’ what their translator told em’ though, so they told us what they wanted the man say to keep their DNC buds happy.
