A Tuzla greeting exposes Hillary

I missed this video earlier this week. Rich Noyes at Newsbusters delivers a coup de grace to Hillary Clinton’s credibility in a YouTube mashup. The assertion that Hillary went to Tuzla under such threat that she had to eschew a greeting ceremony and run for her waiting armored vehicle gets exposed as an absolute lie with contemporaneous reporting from the day in question. Take a look at the video, and see how closely it matches Hillary’s description of the event this week (via Matthew Yglesias):
It shows a clearly confident and unconcerns Hillary Clinton strolling off of her airplane, with a smiling 15-year-old Chelsea in tow, and stopping on the tarmac for the greeting ceremony Hillary claims never took place. Instead of dodging sniper fire from the hills, Hillary stops to listen to a poem from a Bosnian girl, and to thank the girl and embrace her. At no point in this video does Hillary show any sense of danger or haste.
Hillary Clinton lied about Tuzla. She lied about it to make people believe in her qualifications to handle national crises. If she sells her Tuzla greeting as a harrowing encounter with death, what other delusions would she try to sell us as President?

What a harrowing experience! She barely had time to hug that little girl and turn on a dime and return fire to the gunmen firing a barrage of bullets at her. I had no idea this woman knew how to fire an M-16 like that! And what about how she to command.
HILLARY: Everybody take cover! Chelsea, throw a grenade at their position and see if you can shut those AK’s down.
CHELSEA: But mom the pin is stuck again.
HILLARY: Just do it! I’m going to fire back up that C-130 and get us the hell out of here! Here little girl with the stupid poem, take my bullet proof vest and stay under the jeep…do hear me! Stay under the jeep! Never mind the grenade Chelsea just get on that M60 and buzz those Slav monsters so I can fire up that plane!

The blogosphere may challenge her, but the vast majority of Americans don’t come here. So will this and the NAFTA lie in Ohio brought out by the just released scheduling documents be challenged by the MSM? Athought they are taking Mr. Clinton’s recent statement out of context, making him look like he is attacking Mr. Obama’s love of country, I doubt it. So Mr. Obama has a choice to make; to get down and dirty or have her take away the nomination. This will get more interesting as the weeks pass.

Bottomline is that all those fibs and falsehoods she has told over the years are now coming back at her with a vengence. The fact is the moment she announced her candidacy, even the remotest of possibilities that any of these past tall tales she told would be brought back into question never seemed to have crossed her mind, because she was convinced that she would practically walk away with the election strictly on the basis of who she was. She obviously thought most Americans have short term memories. I thinks she now realizes we don’t.

As the Clintons have always had a problem with Truth, this comes as no surprise. As most Liberals live in a “seperate” reality, TRUTH never serves their purposes well. TRUTH just kinda gets in the way of their agenda. Using the words Truth and Clinton in the same sentence is almost absurd.
However using the words Obama and racism makes sense, kinda like Pelosi and delusional or Reid and weasel or Waxman and buffoon.
I reckon I need 4 years of any Clinton in the White House like I need a huge boil on my backside. Those carpet bagging Clintons are still trying to sell Us that same old used car with a new hood ornament. No Thanks!

What’s amazing is that five months past the Philadelphia debate gaffe that gave Obama new life, Hillary and her people still haven’t figured out that it’s not the 1990s, or even the first 5 percent of the 21st Century anymore, and that at best, the big media is divided in their support between her and Obama. That means for every person at one of the TV networks or big dalies who would never bother to go to the video or photo libraries to fact-check a Clinton statement out of fear it would hurt Bill and/or Hill politically, there’s another person out there right now jumping at the chance to catch her in a lie in order to give Barak’s campaign a boost.
You don’t have to have every reporter, network or newspaper treating Mrs. Clinton like a Republican, just enough to get it into the public eye, and then the Obama supporters will take it from there (and the same holds true for Barak, post Texas and Ohio. He still has his media cultists, and the race issue does give the press butterflies, but the pro-Hillary people in the media feel more emboldened now to not let everything he says or does go by unchallenged).

While this logic is common, it is simple nonsense contradicted by everyone’s experience. People lie. Every person lies. If we took one lie to mean that a person is no longer trustworthy, we’d never trust anyone again.

As someone else pointed out, everyone lies. The question, then, shouldn’t be, “Did the politician lie?” but rather, “WHY did the politician lie?” Could be for reasons of national security, or to avoid personal embarrasment. Or, in THIS case, to accrue political power. I don’t mind a politician lying for reasons of national security, and I can understand a politician lying to avoid embarrassment. But the third example? That’s a politician who should NEVER hold office. If they’re willing to lie, repeatedly and heavily, just to get into office, what are they willing to do to KEEP in office?

In this era of the Internet, where any celebrity or politician’s moves are videotaped for posterity, it’s impossible to bend the truth even slightly.
Al Gore, whose Internet bit him back in the form of his energy usage, would certainly have told Hillary that had she asked.
Obama has just learned the same lesson as well.
When you hear about governments shutting down the internet, or restricting access, you now know the reason.

thuja,
A common jury instruction:
If you find that any witness has deliberately lied in any particular, you are free to discount any part, including the totality, of that witness’ testimony.
You are free to discount any part or the totality of Reagan’s statements based on your discernment that he deliberately lied. We are free to discount any part or the totality of Hillary’s statements on the same principle.
unclesmrgol on March 23, 2008 at 10:36 PM
Hillary does have the added negative, in comparison to Reagan, of having had her peeps go out and verbally slap down Sindbad when he first questioned her version of the story, as opposed to actually going back and checking to see if her memory was faulty. She then went out last week and made the same claim again, after which this photo and video were unearthed, which led to the WaPost’s four-noser claim about her veracity.
So she was called on her claim, and chose to try and brand that person a liar (shades of the pre-blue dress counter ops against Monica Lewinsky), before getting called on her faulty memory a second time by a new organization with photographic evidence. Hillary can now either admit she was wrong, or people can start questioning whether she’s the one, instead of John McCain, that voters should be worrying about having “senior moments”.

One of the saddest things about the whole episode was that Hillary forced the hapless Togo West to attend her press conference and to defend her. West was a Clinton loyalist with no apparent qualification to be US Army Chief of Staff when the Clintons appointed him. His main qualification was being a Clinton loyalist and supporter. To the Clintons, that was enough to hand the US Army over to him. Mr. West knew that Hillary was lying but he stood by her as she lied and he looked like he needed to use the bathroom in the worst way. In the Washington Post interview, West conceded that he never heard any gunshots as Hillary claimed there were bullets flying but he said that “Maybe Hillary’s recollection is different”. Why doesn’t West have the manhood just to say that Hillary is a liar and that Hillary made me show up at the press conference and play the role of Clinton loyalist/flunkie/crony/stooge?
