I don’t think enough emphasis can be put on the circumstance that General Atlantic owns Network Solutions. If General Atlantic put pressure on Network Solutions to provide services to the terrorist muslims at Hezbollah or to take down Geert Wilder’s site, then we’ll be foolish to let Network Solutions become corpus vile for General Atlantic.

Here’s an idea: why doesn’t Hotair host Fitna? You’ve served other videos in the past.

I work at the company that hosts HotAir/Michelle Malkin. Given the potential traffic the Fitna movie site could generate (both wanted and maliciuous) the Fitna site would need its own dedicated hardware separate from HA/MM as well as DDoS mitigation protection. We have hosted many significant traffic events, so while it is possible, it’s not cheap. INHO, I do NOT recommend putting the Fitna site on the HotAir/MM config, unless you want all of them to crash if the Fitna gets really busy. We don’t want to break HA/MM’s budget hosting budget!

I don’t fully understand how to interpret whois output, but plainly Network Solutions’ name is all over it, and the “Tech” information does seem to show that Network Solutions is the host of Hezbollah’s site, not merely the registrar of the URL. In that case, if Geert Wilders wanted to be treated well by Network Solutions, he should have founded a terrorist organization, not just a political party.

The domain was registered privately, which means that the registrar or another company registers their domain and forwards access to the original party. It’s not unusual, and it’s actually a good practice nowadays, as whois data is public. But you’re right, network solutions is the current host, the DNS record confirms that.

This is very troubling news that a registrar as big as NS would pull a site over this matter. It’s begun folks, so buckle up!

Sorry it took me so long to get back to this. I must have misread at the link. Thanks for clearing it up.

Re Fitna UK site – a practical joke? The big question is is Wilders behind it? Is there no Fitna movie at all? If Wilders is behind it it is a masterstroke. The US provider suspended a site for a film that never existed and so the point is proven. The fear of Islam is now beyond reason.
