What's wrong with the lead in photo? Richardson showing due respect for the flag behind them and the national anthem playing before them. Obama, showing indifference and no respect whatsoever for the county he feels entitled to lead.

These are the little things that show a persons true character.

<blockquote>......comes from a third-world desert state, whose only economic engine is government, and non-residents who winter there.
Jaibones on March 22, 2008 at 12:12 AM</blockquote>

First of all, Richardson doesn't 'come from here'; He is a carpetbagger from 'OLD' Mexico, Via Massachucetts, who came here specifically and ONLY to run for political office.

And while government is a significant economic engine, that and tourism are hardly our only source of income. We are very rich in natural resources.

Third world? I don't know if it is still true, but ten years or so ago NM had the highest number of PhDs per capita of any state. We are the source of a lot of technological innovation; Many of the world's greatest scientists and engineers work here.

Unless perhaps by third-world, you mean that we are governed like a third world country. Yeah, King Bill, as we call him, has been governing like he was a third world dictator, until recently when the legislature FINALLY realized he was an idiot empty suit and started opposing his stupid ideas.

Finally, If you think New Mexico is a desert, you must have either never been here at all or just driven through on the interstates. Other than jungle and coastline, we have every kind of climate and terrain imaginable.

<blockquote>which is par for the course for left-republicans, </blockquote>

I am not a left republican, and I <strong>certainly</strong> do not side with the treason lobby. I dont know how you came to think that, but you are so very very wrong.

I would tell you that it is time for some re-inspection on your end, but that would imply some sort of capacity for introspective behavior. All you have shown so far is a capacity for ad hominem and straw man arguments.

<blockquote>how does stating the fact that Richardson brings an element of prestige in the Hispanic community to the Obama Campaign mean that he is putting party over country…?</blockquote>

DUH! He sides with the treason lobby, which is par for the course for left-republicans, such as yourself. Time for some re-introspection, brother.

<blockquote>WTF are you talking about, Ed is far from a man who puts party before country. Your statements do not even synch up, how does stating the fact that Richardson brings an element of prestige in the Hispanic community to the Obama Campaign mean that he is putting party over country…?

Squid Shark on March 21, 2008 at 11:07 PM</blockquote>

Really? Name one time Ed has deviated from the party line or Rove's "hispanic target." And don't give me wet noodle arguments, I want something substantive.

I believe I have caught you in some sort of dilemma between loyalty and common sense.

It really does not matter, because one week Ed says one thing and the next he says another. Is she running for office?

<blockquote>Prestige is all about image and Richardson has the image of prestige among hispanics and Democrats, which Obama needs.

I'll stay out of your fight, here, but I dispute your assertion (or Ed's) that Richardson holds any form of "prestige" for anyone. He was a zero-support also-ran, and comes from a third-world desert state, whose only economic engine is government, and non-residents who winter there.

Richardson has had his nose so far up Hillary's butt for the last year she thought it was her kidney. Now he switches butts to Obama. Too funny.

Richardson is a clown, and his endorsement means dick.

And what you consider an "attack" I consider legitimate criticism. It's sort of like Obama's characterization of blacks having "anger" and whites having "resentment." It's all bullshit at the end of the day.

Why attack Ed? Because he puts party before principle and country. In the former Soviet Union, he would be known as an apparatchik.

Anyone who does not put their countrymen first desrves the scorn of those they purport to represent. Fraud needs to be called out, wherever it manifests itself.

Richardson has presided over one of the worst states in the union, and he is an abject failure when it comes to governance.

Similarly, Ed is an abject failure at pointing out the failures of the reconquistas such as Richardson. Ed left the Great State of California because of demographic shifts, the kind recorded history has never seen. Rather than stay and fight for his home, he left like a coward. At least Hewitt has enough balls and gated communities to maintain a presence here.

A spade is a spade, and a wuss is a wuss. Ed is the same guy who opined that Ferraro should shut up, even though she spoke the truth.

Falsifications and the attendant opinions of party hacks do not have this counrty's best interests at heart when they lump "prestige" and "Richardson" in the same sentence.

<blockquote>"He needs the prestige Richardson brings."</blockquote>

HA! That should be the quote of the day. Jeezus-effen-christ! Why do I hear the stupidest things from those who have been exalted into relevance by f*cktards. Richardson presides from one of the worst states ever in terms of everything publicly-funded: New Mexico.

Why did you leave California Ed? We do not miss you, just wondering why you left with your tail between your legs. Your cowardice behind a keyboard or microphone won't change anything, but readers would like to know why you relocated to a "white" portion of the USA from which you pontificate.

Was the heat of the kitchen a little too warm for you? I'm guessing you were not a native to begin with, so that western pioneer pride has always been missing from your liberal arguments. Minnesota deserves you, just so long as you are not in my backyard.

Now if we could just get that wussy "deport the criminals first, grant amnesty to the rest" Patterico out of the state, then maybe the politics could change a little.

Richardson and prestige: an oxymoron.

No white males are in the run.

How racist. "Typical minorities". (Doesn't sound good, does it?)

Not really too surprised at this turn of events. There has never been much affection between Hillary and the guy that spent most of his time pimping for Billy Jeff Clinton.

I don't know about VP Richardson... Maybe. I imagine Obama is hoping for an even more 'strategic' pick for that slot. Richardson doesn't have quite as much the pull with 'hispanics' that he and the media will try to make you believe.

I'm thinking that BO offered him Secretary of State or some sort of high powered 'ambassador at large' gig.

On the bright side, if Obama does win and HAS offered Richardson a job, it will at least get his carpetbagging posterior out of my state.

That new black dyed beard Bichardson is sporting is even more embarrassing than the scraggly gray thing he was sporting last month.

Richardson wants VP, and might get it if he helps Obama navigate past the current minefield. His experience will balance the short history of Obama, much like (ha ha) Cheney was cast as an experienced member of Bush's ticket. Obama wants to be a "change" agent, but he also has to tap into established Democratic networks, which Richardson can help with (Clinton admin, diplomatic service, Dem governor). I can definitely see this ticket happening, if Obama gets the nomination.
