All this story really proves is that there are some people who work for the government who have way too much time on their hands. It also reinforces my opinion of people in general: people, on average, are stupid.

I work for a large telecommunications company that publishes a quarterly security report. It's hysterically funny. The stupid things people do is mind boggling. They'll risk a job that pays them $70,000 a year by using a company credit card to gas up their own private cars. They give credits to friends and relatives and they always get caught.

One of the biggest no no's is looking up a customers records without a legitimate reason for doing so. Everyone knows the company can tell who looks at what, yet they do it anyway and they usually get caught because they did it to someone famous and then bragged about it, or the person whose records they accessed are their ex-wife, or ex-husband, a former boyfriend, or somebody they're feuding with who reports them for it.

The stupid things people will do at work, especially in this day and age, are incredible. We just had a manager fired for viewing porn on his work computer. Every key stroke we make is recorded and we all know it. But this moron couldn't help himself, I guess.

Well Busho hasn’t exactly been known for his judgment in cleaning house. You leave cancer in your body, it’s bound to eat you up. You leave anyone form a corrupt Clinton administration’s…ANYONE… in positions … that’s you’re own stupidity and your administration gets every subversive problem it deserves.

Easier said that done-the Clintons put their moles at all levels of the government, and a lot of those are civil service positions that can't be touched. They knew what they were doing.

So just what the heck is in one's passport records anyway? I've had a passport for a lot of years and would like to know if I should be concerned. Hah! People look at your records all the time be it bank employees looking at your accounts if they're curious, utility company employees and other credit grantors looking at your credit reports, etc. Big whooping deal. If you're done something, there's likely a record of it somewhere. The moral to the story is to not do anything illegal.

Methinks Obama doth protest too much. Shouldn't the possible CIC be PROUD of the places they've visited and think of them as parts of their bulleted resume list of why they would be a great leader?

Maybe Obama's passport has the most information so far about his ability to lead the nation. So far he's just a blank sheet of paper with "hope" and "change" scribbled in crayon.

That this fool's even being considered to lead the free world is maddening to me. He won't even put his hand over his heart for the Pledge of Allegiance to OUR country, the US(KKK) of A for God's sake! He's not even a freaking American in my opinion. Good luck leading the troops to their possible deaths with an a-hole who hates their country. Total disgust.

This story is already over (thank you), our SS#'s are at every job site we ever applied for work at..I wonder how many evil eyes have taken a look at all of our records, including all the times you had to apply for homeowners ins, car ins, bank accounts etc etc., and its never going to make any kind of news, let alone front page news when people are caught peeking at ours. Only an Obama with a 15 manned army of agents surrounding him, with unbelieveable connections and political power, everyone in the whole world should stop what their doing today and take note and worry about poor Mr&Mrs Obama may be in danger of ID theft..Break open that wallet.,Its called LifeLock costs about 10 bucks a month.

Meaningless? And I thought the “conservatives” were the group who cared about constitutional freedoms and rights? Apparently not, especially if it will make Jorge Busho and crew look bad to do so. More reason why I am no longer a Republican or voting for any of these losers.

Since this is hard for you, I'm going to help you out. From a 2008 presidential campaign perspective, it is now meaningless. Obama's victim card has been taken away and he will not be able to mug for the cameras and maybe let a tear slip from the corner of his eye when he thinks of his (now compromised) super-secret date of birth. The only reason this story was significant was because Obama had an exclusive. Now the more he plays it, the more he looks like a drama queen. Not something he wants: giving Americans an opportunity to compare and contrast him with another candidate that is behaving like an adult.

But I'm curious. A whole ass-load of information on veterans (many veterans, much information on each of them) was compromised when a laptop was stolen and its contents were exposed to God only knew who. This wasn't terribly long ago. My information was involved. Now tell me something: did you post your anger and fury unto the message boards when that happened? If not, why not? It was, after all, about a million times as damaging as this and, furthermore, the information of men and women who had sacrificed to serve their country selflessly and well, as opposed to some rich guy whose only accomplishment in life was to attend an ivy league college and become bosom buddies with a racist, hate-mongering, America-hating preacher and a crook from Seria who helped him buy his home.

When you can answer that question to my satisfaction, then I will consider taking your faux outrage seriously, and actually eviserate your argument rather than just ripping a new one into your trollish hide.

I still say, if you check Madonna's or Spears or any other celeb du jour, you would find their passport info. has been looked at also.
Some lowly, 36 year old. living still living with parents, dateless, government worker doesn't look at every passport of a famous celeb? C'mon, these are people with minimum skills, working for the ultimate bureaucratic, low bidding government contractor...kind of like the NSA...BTW, do they have weight qualifications for NSA workers?...like no woman under 250 lbs. need apply.

You might want to consider returning your hat for a larger size- the tinfoil on your current one is apparently just a bit too tight.

A few low-level contractors took a peek at passport records, got caught and were dealt with. Thus far no harm- political or otherwise- resulted in the unauthorized access. Nor is it likely, since the travel schedules of the candidates aren't exactly state or even personal secrets.

In summary: Yawn.

Anyone know how outraged was he over the leaking of national security info by WaPo and the NYT?

Buy Danish on March 21, 2008 at 3:22 PM

That, my friends, is the question of the day. This feigned outrage is offensive from a group of people who were not outraged over Rev Wright or Shabazz or Rezko...etc.

There are rumors that some State Department apparatchiks, from the Clinton days, actively subvert the policies of the current administration.

Well Busho hasn't exactly been known for his judgment in cleaning house. You leave cancer in your body, it's bound to eat you up. You leave anyone form a corrupt Clinton administration's...ANYONE... in positions ... that's you're own stupidity and your administration gets every subversive problem it deserves.

So a sub contractor who is 'responsible for maintaining a state department database' was looking at the data in that database and this is a scandal?

Oh, wait, I know, it was unauthorized. They were supposed to be 'maintaining' the data base not 'looking' at the data.

Would that be something like someone working at Department of Motor Vehicles actually 'looking' at someone's driving record?

Or someone in the justice department 'looking' at someone's criminal history?

Or someone at the Department of Agriculture 'looking' at payments made to farmers, or an auditor 'looking' at disbursements?

In other words, someone 'working' for the government actually 'working' is now a scandal?

I'm so confused.

Since when did passport info become secret? I always thought that with all the databases out there linked to passports that they were practically public anyway. Your info on your whereabouts are always shared with databases whenever you use them. In Europe you have to show your passport just to get a hotel room. Interpol knows exactly where you are every night.

The scandal du jour expanded today, in a way that essentially renders it meaningless.

Meaningless? And I thought the "conservatives" were the group who cared about constitutional freedoms and rights? Apparently not, especially if it will make Jorge Busho and crew look bad to do so. More reason why I am no longer a Republican or voting for any of these losers.

Details about the contractors might be very interesting.

For what company do they work? When was the company awarded the contract? When were these individuals hired? Who do they work with and to whom do they report?

Then there are political questions. There are rumors that some State Department apparatchiks, from the Clinton days, actively subvert the policies of the current administration. Are there any connections between these contractors and suspected State Department subversives?

It's time to look carefully at the culture and inhabitants of the State Department.

I still say that the administration should say it was just sloppiness (the excuse the Clintons gave for Sandy Burglar) or a bureaucratic snafu (the excuse the Clintons gave for hundreds of FBI files missing), and all will be forgiven!
