I still say that what went on here is not half as bad as what goes on a Kos or D.U., but I do agree that a few of us crossed a line when we poked fun at her appearance.

This is not new. If you (and MadisonConservative) want to hold yourselves and each other to a higher standard, bravo for you both. That higher standard of conduct has NEVER, in the entire history of the United States (since the time of Jefferson and Adams), held up in the political arena.

And we are not politicians. We are not forming strategies. We are offering our ineffectual opinions, in order to express ourselves in pretty much the only way available to us. When you choose to do so by making yourself out to be no different than a Kos kid making a crack about Condi Rice, you make it very clear what kind of impression you want to leave in your limited capacity. I am ashamed of many here, and am embarrassed to have them represent the conservative movement.

Seriously, I’ve posted twice on this thread. The first was a cheap observation that the chick looks semi-funny. My bad, I dramatically underestimated the 17 year-old girl lobby here. The second post was to briefly highlight past things I’ve read on this here site from other posters and yes, maybe even the host (without going into a lot of past research). For both, I (and others) have been pilloried as insecure, pathetic, weak, lazy, and (like) a leftist lacking in rational thought by you and others. Keep in mind this kid cut a commercial in support of a demagogue and provable racist, whose cult status has garnered favor with nearly half the country. She’s actively agitating for an empty suit whose election will bring deep ruin to many institutions we hold dear. She put her own self out there. But she’s young and articulate, so no cheap shots!
You and the others could’ve said “Dude, she’s 17″, and I probably would’ve agreed and retracted. We’re all free here to make comments as long as they ain’t too blue and don’t scare the horses. It’s supposed to be fun. But no, y’all go feet-first into full-on spittle-flecked judgmentalist fury, and just kept…it…up. Congratulations. I’m eagerly awaiting future posts by you and your PC cop echo-chamber friends looking to shut us morons up.

Since we’re talking respect, I think we should appreciate that,even though most of us wanted someone other than John McCain, he is a shrewd politician; he does know how to win. I understand why he has called personal attacks on Obama and Clinton off limits in his campaign-because that’s how we lose. Dems love the politics of personality. They think that you don’t have to be right on the issues if you can win hearts instead of minds. McCain is making it about the issues. John McCain is the most unlikable Republican, but we overlook that because he is the best choice we have left.
He doesn’t have to smear his opponents-just contrast the two political ideologies and let the people decide. And if the people decide to go with a Democrat, so be it-that’s why majority rule works in a Democracy. I think McCain will win for the same reason Bush won in 2004: more people trusted him to lead the country than trusted Kerry. McCain is the most capable leader of the three still in the running. It’s more important than a popularity contest.

We are at war with people who want to kill us for who we are and what we are. If this twit would read the 9/11 Report or researched the enemy we face, she’d get it there is no “politics of fear” but politics of sad truth versus wistful hopefullness based on so little to no reality.

Is this another manifestation of the Clintons being in control of everything?

While this all may be true, it seems to me that you are trying to hold the participants at HA to a higher standard than the presidential candidates themselves are held to. As near as I can tell, the MSM does not hold them to any standard at all. Politics is an extremely dirty business. This is not new. If you (and MadisonConservative) want to hold yourselves and each other to a higher standard, bravo for you both. I am not saying that this is the way thing SHOULD be, I am simply saying that this is the way that it is, and the way that it has been for 200+ years. The snide comments here are mostly posted in order to make people laugh. Is it dark humor? Yes, but it should surprise no one. If things are a little too rough for you here at HA, there ARE alternatives. HA is a big tent. Not everyone participating here subscribes to Christian values or even to rational thought. As near as I cn tell, the participants here are fairly representative of a cross-section of the people that make up our society. If you don’t like it, then I suggest that you start your own political blog. I for one, like to hear what “the creeps” have to say. I have no desire to “muzzle” them.

One step from that to the kind of identity politics most here don’t buy in to.

1. The only quip one needs to say about Michael Moore’s apparent size is thus: If Cuba’s health care is so much better, why isn’t he living there?

2. John Kerry is a sad boy.

3. Pathological Liar and Demon Spawn is more acccurate and less superficial.

It’s the “feature articles” and links that are routinely posted on this site bring out the worst in me, ya’ know. Hmmm. I wonder if there is anything in the code of conduct that says that creeps can’t participate at HA.

I think this is a bit much milan, most of the independents I know are in the military and they are the most informed people around. I often find that the dumbest voters are party hacks who believe everything they read on Kos or Rush Limbaugh’s website.

I condemned making fun at her appearance. And she doesn’t even look to be at all fat, so making fun of that seems stupid. I do take objection to the fact that she is not an idiot. Most Obama supporters are. She didn’t name a single issue or position in which she supported Obama. She only listed “I choose to embrace hope” as her reason. Everybody knows that independent voters are the dumbest set of folks in the electorate and it’s because they are uninformed and apathetic. These people are the base of Obama’s support.

She is young and is reasonably articulate – she has clearly made her choice, misguided as people might think.

Those are almost 30 point margins right there, but in the ever important “Get Ossama” poll:

40+ point margins just cannot be ignored.

Apparently, only Democrats are diluded enough to believe their guys can handle national security issues in significant numbers.

The Clinton’s have lost their touch this year. They will lose, and drag down Obama to defeat and try again in 2012.

The little girl is just a pawn, who will hopefully start to learn as she gets older. I agree there is no need to insult her. At this age, she is probably just parroting her parents or teachers.
