New ad: Hillary’s “3 a.m.” spot ripped by … girl in Hillary’s “3 a.m.” spot

posted at 6:11 pm on March 21, 2008 by Allahpundit

I’d say who the ad is for but I’m trying to keep my promise.

Eleven days after posing this exit question, we have our answer. Pointing out that presidents are occasionally called upon to handle crises and that you think you’d do a better job than a more liberal candidate is, as usual, sneered at here as “the politics of fear,” as it has been ever since 10:30 a.m. or so on 9/11. How’s it taste, Billary? Did it go down smooth?

Update: Forget the Republicans and independents. Look at the Democrats.

Makes me think we should increase the minimum voting age from 18 to at least 25 so the people voting have a bit more life experience and the common sense and knowledge that usually accompany those experiences before they vote.

The passage of time can be so unkind.

Me thinks,Obi Obama has learned the political force well,

“Politics of Fear, which resorts to the tactics that drive us apart, say like the saop opera of Mr.Wrights sermons of

And I thought Hillary would have an easy going from the youth vote, because the young voters were in diapers when

SHE put herself in the spotlight, not us!
And hey, I vote that we raise the voting age to at least 21. I don’t know if you have teenagers in Connecticut, but **most** of the teenagers in the rest of America are pretty apathetic, irresponsible, and un(or mis)informed. These are people that only care about their next keg party and when they do get their news, it usually comes from Stewart or Colbert (which, ironically, is where our not-so-innocent [we can totally rip on the butt chin, it's not like she's reading anything with non-hope related information] Casey found out about the ad).

Of course, Ann Coulter has suggested that women should not be allowed to vote under any circumstances.

My collie says:

I dunno, but I think Kaycie is lying about “the politics of fear”. I think she may be an Obama supporter because she knows about Bill Clinton’s fondness for pudgey eighteen-year-old girls. It’s Billy Jeff that she’s afraid of, not an international crisis at 3 AM.

My collie says:

Bill Clinton in the White House with nothing to do. That IS a frightening prospect.

Then, on the other hand, Kaycie lives in Seattle, so she certainly qualifies as a typical white moonbat. It’s going to be difficult to resolve this one without more information.

Oh and he going to put lolcats on all the money! So cute! ik! OMG I can’t wait!

Good thing she is not ripping Obama and showing up on Fox&Friends for a two hour show, otherwise we would be having posts from the HA editors saying how divisive it is and how mean spirited she is.

Say what you want about the “awkward stage” the little girl is in, this ad was sheer bitch-slapping brilliance on the part of Obama’s people.

The only fault I have with it (from a political strategic viewpoint) is that the claim that she chose Obama as the “candidate of hope” is really really really lame. Would have been far better to have her reason for choosing Obama related to some concrete aspect of her future (or some related theme). For example, “I support Obama because he understands that my future is bleak without a comprehensive national healthcare plan.”

I think Nancy Pelosi is still the champ of experiencing the perils of stock footage for political purposes. Couldn’t find the actual picture but the description (from June 2007 when she was still pretending to be relevant) is good.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s website has a flash demo outlining her positions on Rising Gas Prices, Progress For America, Appropriations Bills, which includes increase veterans funding… apparently for the Canadian military. After all that is a picture of a doctor speaking to a person wearing a Canadian military uniform.

LimeyGeek on March 21, 2008 at 7:47 PM

Nothing wrong with it, and I agree, she’s well spoken and made her point, which is more then I can say for a significant number of teens these days. But your most important point being is she is misguided, which is understandable considering her young age and lack of life experiences. For me it seems more like she’s a Barack groupie, for the younger group it’s seems to me being an Obama supporter is in-vogue or coool.

I’d be willing to bet if you asked her some questions like, what are Obama’s stances on the various issues, why does she believe Obama’s stances on the issues are the right way to go, and why are the stances Obama takes important to her she would probably just keep answering, “but he’s for change you can believe in!”

Lets also not forget she lives in Seattle (Berkeley light) and her parents are more than likely far left liberals that have filled her young and impressionable mind with lots of moonbattery over the course of 17 years…

Liberty or Death on March 21, 2008 at 8:44 PM

for the younger group it’s seems to me being an Obama supporter is in-vogue or coool.

As someone who considers themselves to be a member of the “younger group” (just check the SN), I know for a fact that my peers use support for a man who they know nothing about, who holds positions they know nothing about, as a fashion accessory. Support for the Messiah goes right with the ripped Abercrombie and Fitch jeans and the leather sandals. When they’re indoctrinated straight outta the cradle (check out MM’s not-so-shocking expose of Nickelodeon “News”), it’s not hard to believe that we are cranking out the next generation of libs.

I’m in Wisconsin. The real Madison. Under assault by a city that is more concerned with making one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the country MORE bicycle-friendly while their roads remain unsalted, covered in snow and ice, and turning into gravel when it melts…but I digress.

Yes, she put herself in the spotlight. And people choose to attack her looks and appearance instead of what she says or her ideas. Those people are no different than the jackasses saying Bush looks like a chimp. They’re both non-sequiters uttered by insecure people who aren’t satisfied until they’ve insulted someone utterly, and those people are pathetic.

Sadly, there are pathetic people on all sides of the political spectrum, and obviously, some of them post here.

I hear ya. It’s all about building some sort of synthetic “urban identity”. They’re doing it here in Charlotte too. Screw the infrastructure, we’re spending your money on basketball arenas and “neighborhood livening”.

Yes, she put herself in the spotlight. And people choose to attack her looks and appearance instead of what she says or her ideas.

I’ll concede the point. While I feel no sympathy for people who throw themselves into the spotlight and get the scrutiny they are asking for, I don’t think it was appropriate for myself and others to comment on her appearance. She already has enough problems, considering she may have to enter the real world during an Obama presidency.

or her ideas

I won’t give you that point. “Hope” is not an idea, it’s a slogan.

I’ve been posting since day one when Michelle opened the door. I’m conservative to the core, as are many here. Some of the comments on this post are downright nasty, directing venom at a young woman, calling her ugly, etc. If you disagree with her politics, fine. So do I. But using your privileged access here to denigrate a young woman, saying things which you never would dare say to her if you were to meet here in person-that’s just wrong. It diminishes people’s opinion of you; it diminishes my opinion of you. In Michelle’s book, “Unhinged”, she lists just a few of the derogatory names she has been called by the Left. Quit acting like them. Be respectful, please.

This is quite clever by the Obama people. This is the kind of thing the Clinton’s did in 1992 with great success. They had an answer to every attack, the War Room etc.

The Clinton’s have lost their touch this year. They will lose, and drag down Obama to defeat and try again in 2012.

The little girl is just a pawn, who will hopefully start to learn as she gets older. I agree there is no need to insult her. At this age, she is probably just parroting her parents or teachers.

Wow…you can say “Nevermind the Republicans and Indies” all you want, but McCain makes both Evita and Barry his woman amongst those Indies!

Answer “The Call”:

McCain 42%
Evita 14%
Barry 15%

Those are almost 30 point margins right there, but in the ever important “Get Ossama” poll:

McCain 50%
Evita 8%
Barry 2%

40+ point margins just cannot be ignored.

Apparently, only Democrats are diluded enough to believe their guys can handle national security issues in significant numbers.

SuperCool on March 22, 2008 at 4:23 AM

Implying the girl is an idiot or fat seems uncomfortably close to the kind of unpleasant leftist name calling that routinely features on Daily Kos. It’s not big and it is not clever – the fact that she appears to be neither an idiot nor obese only underlines the stupidity in this kind of behavior.

She is young and is reasonably articulate – she has clearly made her choice, misguided as people might think.

Sneering at that seems weak.

Ares on March 22, 2008 at 9:58 AM

the fact that she appears to be neither an idiot

I condemned making fun at her appearance. And she doesn’t even look to be at all fat, so making fun of that seems stupid. I do take objection to the fact that she is not an idiot. Most Obama supporters are. She didn’t name a single issue or position in which she supported Obama. She only listed “I choose to embrace hope” as her reason. Everybody knows that independent voters are the dumbest set of folks in the electorate and it’s because they are uninformed and apathetic. These people are the base of Obama’s support.

While this all may be true, it seems to me that you are trying to hold the participants at HA to a higher standard than the presidential candidates themselves are held to. As near as I can tell, the MSM does not hold them to any standard at all. Politics is an extremely dirty business. This is not new. If you (and MadisonConservative) want to hold yourselves and each other to a higher standard, bravo for you both. That higher standard of conduct has NEVER, in the entire history of the United States (since the time of Jefferson and Adams), held up in the political arena. I am not saying that this is the way thing SHOULD be, I am simply saying that this is the way that it is, and the way that it has been for 200+ years. The snide comments here are mostly posted in order to make people laugh. Is it dark humor? Yes, but it should surprise no one. If things are a little too rough for you here at HA, there ARE alternatives. HA is a big tent. Not everyone participating here subscribes to Christian values or even to rational thought. As near as I cn tell, the participants here are fairly representative of a cross-section of the people that make up our society. If you don’t like it, then I suggest that you start your own political blog. I for one, like to hear what “the creeps” have to say. I have no desire to “muzzle” them.

Is this another manifestation of the Clintons being in control of everything?

William2006 on March 22, 2008 at 8:00 PM

Throughly embarassed, but unsurprised to share the same state.

We are at war with people who want to kill us for who we are and what we are. If this twit would read the 9/11 Report or researched the enemy we face, she’d get it there is no “politics of fear” but politics of sad truth versus wistful hopefullness based on so little to no reality.

Thanks, Spirit of 1776-to CyberCipher-I don’t think asking posters to be respectful is ‘muzzling’ anybody.

Since we’re talking respect, I think we should appreciate that, even though most of us wanted someone other than John McCain, he is a shrewd politician; he does know how to win. I understand why he has called personal attacks on Obama and Clinton off limits in his campaign-because that’s how we lose. Dems love the politics of personality. They think that you don’t have to be right on the issues if you can win hearts instead of minds. McCain is making it about the issues. John McCain is the most unlikable Republican, but we overlook that because he is the best choice we have left.
He doesn’t have to smear his opponents-just contrast the two political ideologies and let the people decide. And if the people decide to go with a Democrat, so be it-that’s why majority rule works in a Democracy. I think McCain will win for the same reason Bush won in 2004: more people trusted him to lead the country than trusted Kerry. McCain is the most capable leader of the three still in the running. It’s more important than a popularity contest.

I dunno. I think “Cankles” is kinda funny.

Seriously, I’ve posted twice on this thread. The first was a cheap observation that the chick looks semi-funny. My bad, I dramatically underestimated the 17 year-old girl lobby here. The second post was to briefly highlight past things I’ve read on this here site from other posters and yes, maybe even the host (without going into a lot of past research). For both, I (and others) have been pilloried as insecure, pathetic, weak, lazy, and (like) a leftist lacking in rational thought by you and others. Keep in mind this kid cut a commercial in support of a demagogue and provable racist, whose cult status has garnered favor with nearly half the country. She’s actively agitating for an empty suit whose election will bring deep ruin to many institutions we hold dear. She put her own self out there. But she’s young and articulate, so no cheap shots!
You and the others could’ve said “Dude, she’s 17″, and I probably would’ve agreed and retracted. We’re all free here to make comments as long as they ain’t too blue and don’t scare the horses. It’s supposed to be fun. But no, y’all go feet-first into full-on spittle-flecked judgmentalist fury, and just kept…it…up. Congratulations. I’m eagerly awaiting future posts by you and your PC cop echo-chamber friends looking to shut us morons up.

Just my opinion.

Have a happy Easter.

Makes me think we should increase the minimum voting age from 18 to at least 25…

I’m thinking more like 40.

RedWinged Blackbird

Have you seen voter numbers? You’ve almost got this today without doing anything.

Is Chris Matthews posting here now?

My favorite comment(I even read it to my husband) was the soul patch one. Cracked us up! You folks are quite witty and the smidge of truth in the comments makes it even more funny.

Don’t lose your sense of humor. There’s a cranky pants around every corner, don’t let them get you down!

Yeah, you’re right. He is the best choice we have LEFT.

CORNY PUN OF THE YEAR
I’m so proud of myself.

This is not new. If you (and MadisonConservative) want to hold yourselves and each other to a higher standard, bravo for you both. That higher standard of conduct has NEVER, in the entire history of the United States (since the time of Jefferson and Adams), held up in the political arena.

And we are not politicians. We are not forming strategies. We are offering our ineffectual opinions, in order to express ourselves in pretty much the only way available to us. When you choose to do so by making yourself out to be no different than a Kos kid making a crack about Condi Rice, you make it very clear what kind of impression you want to leave in your limited capacity. I am ashamed of many here, and am embarrassed to have them represent the conservative movement.

And as for you…

Don’t lose your sense of humor. There’s a cranky pants around every corner, don’t let them get you down!

Grow the hell up and quit focusing on your own immediate self-satisfaction. Have some respect for others.

MadisonConservative on March 23, 2008 at 12:54 AM

You know, comedy does not come in “one size fits all”. Adapt to the fact that there are differences and that you will not be able make everyone conform to your sense of humor or your sense of right and wrong. You’ll be much happier.

Sheesh

I still say that what went on here is not half as bad as what goes on a Kos or D.U., but I do agree that a few of us crossed a line when we poked fun at her appearance.

I think “Cankles” is kinda funny.

Of course! I think M.C. is angry with making fun of someone who isn’t a public figure. I doubt anybody takes objection to ripping on the Glacier.
