Well, I've got a couple rss feeds for the WaPo. Headlines updates very infrequently, A section is usually more timely. Used to be that they'd dump a bunch of feeds at set times, but they really don't seem to be user friendly over there.

I use the Omea Pro version since they made it free and I haul in a massive number of feeds so I don't have to go hunting through archives at blogs or use fancy search strings on google to be site specific.

I like the capability to find every post across the blogs I follow plus other sources from the last year and a half in under a second or two.

In my experience, due to a power surge here, the data base itself remained ok, but the index file of all the unique words in the database had to be rebuilt which takes a long time with the size my data base has grown.

I don't try to read the feeds I bring in real time, since there are so many, I rely on the search feature to pick up what I need and have an interest in.

On an average day I am pulling in about 3200 posts to the reader, based on the number I had in the unread box after being away from the house all day on business.

Ed

In case you missed my email to you on it.

Due to working mainly on their newer products the guys who developed Omea have released it to GPL license.

Hopefully the open source wonder kids will pick up the ball on development of the reader.

They were just swamped with the new stuff they were bringing out and couldn't keep up with Omea.

The Washington ComPost, Newsweak, & Rolling Stoned seem to be trying to save their dying genre by moving further & further left to keep their devoted, rabid base. They seem to have given up on moderates & everyone else.

The Washington Post was so over the top in its obsequious coverage of Obama that I thought I had heard everything. But then along came Washington Post editorial writer Jonathan Capehart. NBC News had Capehart on its evening news as an "objective analyst". Seriously, Capehart passes for "objective analyst" on NBC. Capehart actually said that Obama's speech was "Barack Obama's gift to the people of the United States". Capehart went on ad nauseum about he personally is free from the sins of racism that affect most other white folks. But according to Capehart, the rest of us need Barack the redeemer to save us. I actually felt sorry for Capehart. Anyone who needs to be so sycophantic is just sad.

However, if the Post doesn’t care to update its feeds, it may find itself as relevant as the New York Times’ columnists during the TimesSelect subscription service period.

yeah, that was funny. Imagine their surprise to learn nobody wanted to pay actual money for the Times' opinions.

Here in NY they try to sell the paper for a dollar/week. Still few takers, even in the bluest of blue states.

A wonderful book has yet to be written about the demise of this American institution.

As for the WaPo, my understanding is that the bulk of their profits come from Kaplan Test Centers, and not the newspaper.

I use Omea. It works pretty well, a little better than Sharpreader, but it tends to have DB corruption issues.
