I have FDR Democrats in my family from Pennsylvania. They have never voted for a Republican for President in their lifetimes. 8 of 9 of them have already told me they are voting for McCain.

It’s pretty shocking.

And his speech Tuesday, although widely praised by the pundit caste and Obama supporters, has only seemed to widen the gulf with the Budweiser class here…

…and there it is… That’s exactly what I suspected. He significantly widened the gulf, not narrowed it.

Bounce back? I think you are surrounded by to many libs. This might be settled in NYC, or DC, but on Main Street USA it is not. I know here in NC this is not playing well( blacks or whites ).I was not suprised by the new poll in NC, and expect Hillary to win the State by at least 5%. Obama might bounce back to hold on to the nomination, but there is no way he can undo the damage this has caused. No one wants to lectured on race from a guy who did not have the moral courage to stand up to racism in his “own front yard”.

On the other hand, I just can’t vote for McCain. His amnesty performance was like a rusty bayonet twisting in my kidney. I will be sitting this one out because I refuse to be intimidated into pulling a lever for that pandering fool.

If he is to win, he will do it without my help. If the dems win, it will set a course for a new conservative movement that will be similar to what Jimmy Carter did for conservatives. I’m so mad at the government right now (and the American electorate for that matter)that I am ready for real change, and not the kind Obama wants.

That Politico article is a telling one. I grew up outside of Philly, and there is enough of the Frank Rizzo constituency left there that this one bar is a bigger sampling of opinion than you might think. These are the guys that used to sit in the 700 Level at the Vet and throw snowballs with batteries in them when the Cowboys came to town.

Why, exactly? Was it his refusal to salute the flag, or his attacking the Reagan Coalition for wanting Welfare Reform?
Remember – he’s AGAINST welfare reform. He votes far Left, he associates with racist rabblerousers who hate your guts, who want massive infusions of tax dollars for their pet projects and Obama also thinks that our entire criminal justice system is racist, perhaps necessitating a quota system for violent criminals. He wants to stop domestic oil drilling, while taxing our own oil companies, and yet we have to sign on to Kyoto and wreck our economy while we triple our taxpayer-funded entitlement programs.
And that’s just for starters.

I am a lifelong Republican, but I have to admit I like the guy. I thought his speech was excellent, and it is nice to see a black man understanding that welfare was a cause of the Reagan Revolution. However, the fact is that the lions share of the progress needed to abate racism in the US will fall on the shoulders of the Black Community. Squandering the opportunity to take advantage of an education is foolish, and the hip hop culture is a profound turn off. Bill Cosby is on the right track, but playing the victim card seems to remain the most popular.

I am standing by to see what shakes out.

I still think that Obama is far more dangerous than Hillary.
He is, I feel, a truly radicalized racially divisive candidate and yet there are many conservatives – not real bright ones, I’ve generally noticed – who have taken the Sandra Day O’Connor affirmative action koolaid.

Notice all the calls for Condeleeza Rice to be the VP for McCain. She has been a first-rate disaster, a real State Department zombie (as was Colin Powell), yet there is some kind of a guilt trip in the conservative movement that we have to one-up the democrats by pushing our own unqualified affirmative action candidate.

We can’t win anything by simply mimicking the dems. Haven’t Bush’s domestic policy and overspending disasters taught us anything?

So, is it time to stop voting Hillary and start voting Obama to ensure he gets the nod?

I say yes. Not only did he malign black people by saying what he did about black churches (all black churches are NOT the same, just like all white churches are NOT the same) he set race relations back, way back, I can’t even say how far back. Wright does NOT speak for all black Americans and to say he does is divisive and egregious.

We need to assure that Obama gets the nomination. He is unable to win in the general because he revealed himself to be a liar and a racist.

Is it too late to register as a dem in the states with upcoming primaries?

P.S. THANK YOU RUSH and Operation Chaos…without it, none of this would have been brought to the forefront.

True. I’m slightly skeptical though still. Your reasoning behind the bounce back theory is logical its just that so much that has happened this campaign season has defied logic. Its almost as if I’m begining to expect the unexpected. And I just get an uneasy felling when someone as smart as Allahpundit still continues to make these predictions with such a high level of confidence. At this point I just want to see Clinton gone. Not just because watching her fall will be such a beautiful sight, but because I think she is the most dangerous, driven and corrupt politician of my lifetime. And, not to mention the fact that I would give just about anything just to avoid having to listen to that horrific voice day in and day out for the next 8 years. But I’m sure thats just me.
