I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Gerry couldn't have been more right..If Fauxbama was a WHITE 46 year old one term Senator, there's no way he would be running for President. He is where he is for only one reason, and it's not because everyone knows he's a progressive/socialist whose first year budget would be impossible, not to mention his foreign policy ideas are suicidal for the U.S.....He's running as a TOKEN.................

There should never have been a problem with what GF said to start this thing. It was obvious fact. Now that the Obama people have played the race card they are looking more stupid by the minute. It is interesting to watch how someone with the nomination sowed up can manage to lose it, but I think that is what he has done (thank goodness).

Being a transplanted Jersey boy, I can tell you many midwesterners misjudge NY'ers and their neighbors. The disparaging personality traits often ascribed to NY/NJ folks from many natives I've met here (obnoxious, rude, mean) are really just directness and sincerity with no grudges held. Barry lacks either trait and I'm proud of Gerry for saying it like it is....a bigot is a bigot and such an invidious comparison by the Boy Senator was directed at the wrong Democrat.
Remember, the lady we admire so much here is a Jersey girl.
Up yours all you Midwest Dem phonies who tell me how bad my "peeps" are.

Fox has been playing the hypocrisy card to trump Obama's race card, pointing out that his rationale for excusing Rev. Wright's hatemongering because of all his "good work" is diametrically opposed to his verdict on Don Imus (who was thrown off the air during a pledge drive for his charity that helps sick children).

The Chicago columnist blaming whites for just not getting it excuses what is wrong, blaming anyone but one's self for hatred, by discrediting what should be right, love of one's country and fellow humans.

Tolerance vs. PC vs. good citizenship.

When people like the Rev.Wright congregation persist in hating and blaming others for not understanding their God given Constitutional RIGHT to hate America, allowing them to fester is an option as we must tolerate, even as we witness their festering infection leading towards violence upon our own unity and loss of opportunity for ourselves.

HOW MANY GENERATIONS of whites must pay for 87 years of black slavery practiced once upon a time 232 years ago? Blacks blame whites, but the USA is not obligated for European rules set into motion prior to our independence. The USA did not instigate slavery. From 7-4-1776 Declaration of Independence to 1-1-1863 Emancipation Proclamation was only 87 years, one long lifespan during which children were born, yes; none-the-less, only 87 years endured our national practice of slavery. For 145 years, from 1863 to 2008, the blacks have had their freedom and the right to vote (<strong>women's vote did not arrive until 1920, and ERA equal pay for equal work has yet to occur</strong>). Since LBJ in 1964, civil rights have studiously been observed for nearly half a century and further layers of protection and benefits have been bestowed upon blacks and minorities by our nation in order to rectify any former guilt and enhance opportunities for minorities to the point that today our nation practices reverse discrimination. Geraldine laid it on the line.

The minorities STILL demanding government and social hand-outs are the people who just don't get it. ANYONE enforcing reverse discrimination doesn't get it, either.

Obama represents hope and change that we can believe in WHEN he gets over himself. Evidently, he is not yet there as he blames us for not sharing his take, but we are listening and watching. No more is asked of Obama than of McCain or Hillary. WHO represents the 'will' of the majority of Americans and who will best serve our American nation?

That anyone's candidacy for POTUS enjoys the rights of reverse discrimination is unacceptable.

<em>E pluribus unum functions </em>when we are all equal under the law, POTUS candidates as well.

I've rarely agreed with anything Ferraro said, but She is right on about the Rev.

People, please stop calling people 'African Americans'
It's 'American'
Obama is not African. He is an American.
There is no Africa-America on my globe.

(sorry, just a pet peeve of mine)
Otherwise, I have to go around calling myself an Irish-English-Scottish-Portugese-Cherokee Indian -American.
ridiculous.

It's good to see a prominent democrat call an african american racist a racist. I've heard a number of african americans refuse to acknowledge that there is such a thing as racism against white people. usually the reason given goes something like "the white power structure only allows racism against black people".

If there is one thing that an Obama candidacy can focus Amerca's attention to, it is the massive amounts of self pity, victimization, and hatred towards white people that exists within the african american community. It's not healthy and I think it holds them back.

It really is fun watching the indignation as they turn their own tactics on each other. I think they must be so mentally deranged that the don't even realize this is the stuff they have been doing to conservatives and republicans for 50 years. I just hope all those middle of the road undecideds are watching closely and becoming a little bit enlightened.

To lift a page from Hillary!'s playbook, we need oppo research teams doing work on <strong>both </strong>Dem candidates right now; stat. Feed each camp enough crap about the other to keep the guns blazing all the way to Denver.

For example: Dear Obama, follow the Chinese. Hillary!, follow the Chicago Black political machine. Gold for both!

<em>It's gonna be a riot :)</em>

You make some valid points, 29Victor.

Ferraro made her remarks about Obama's race also to point out his thin resume. She recognized that her own way back when was equally thin and that she was being used for identity politics reasons.

For some reason, Hillary! supporters such as Ferraro do not see that the Madame of the Mao pantsuit is just as ill-credentialed to be president.

Obama has a lot of baggage that deserves scrutiny just as does Hillary! Obama's financial and influence connections with Rezko, his reliance on father-figure mentors such as the Communist Davies(?)/Davis(?) in his youth and Pastor Wright with his black separatist grievances and anti-American diatribes for 20 years, and his oblique connections with the Kenyan Ondinga raise a lot of red flags about an easily manipulable and manipulating candidate.

His bill to send a sizable amount of our GDP for the Millennial Poverty Act was shuffled with expedience through the Senate by his buddies in the Foreign Relations Committee to add to his resume as capable in the world arena. (BTW I believe that the bill has passed in the House. Hold on to your wallets.)

Obama has been noticeably absent from his senatorial duties throughout his campaign season, failing to show up for some critical votes that would demonstrate exactly what he stands for. I believe, also, that he has not convened one of the committees on which he serves.

Essentially, he adds up to being a token candidate.,, and probably a dangerous one to our economy and to our national security/foreign policy.

As far as a Gore/Obama08 ticket, there were bumper stickers floating that idea at least a year ago. They were photographed on some pricey gas-guzzlers at a global warming event. (Sorry. I lost the file photo.)

The idea is not far-fetched either. The Gore-bots would love to extract their revenge for what they deludedly thought was stolen from themselves in 2000.

The revenge against the Clintons would be ironically sweet, too, for those in the Dem anti-Hillary camp. There was bad blood generated between the Clintons and the Gores during that campaign. The Gores saw Hillary using her time supposedly on behalf of Gore's candidacy instead being channeled to her own eventual campaign chest.

There is a certain satisfaction in seeing the Dems' reliance on identity politics to generate dissatisfaction coming around to bite them where the sun don't shine. I guess Saul Alinksy's textbook didn't plan for such contingencies.

I said:
<blockquote>It’s pretty hypocritical of Ferraro to be launching this attack against Wright at this time, calling him a “bigot” and whatnot.

Ferraro has been in the Democratic Party for a long, long time and she has to have heard this kind of speech from black leaders before. I would assume that she has heard it several times before. She’s been paling around with people like Wright for decades. Yet, she never felt the need to point the racism until now.

She was willing to abide the racism as long as it got the Democratic party black votes, but now that the racist is baking her opponent, she feels compelled to show her distain for the pastor.

And you said:

<blockquote>She’s been paling around with people like Wright for decades.[citation needed]

The only thing I can guess you are referring to his if she never spoke up when Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton made racist comments. I don’t get the “paling around” claim. So if she was a ‘good democrat’ and practiced her version of Reagan’s 11th commandment, and never spoke ill of democrats - why does this have to be hypocritical?

<strong>wise_man on March 20, 2008 at 4:45 PM</strong></blockquote>

By "paling around" I don't mean that they're playing softball together after hanging out at the theater. I mean political paling around.

People like Wright are part of the ugly, hateful underbelly of the Democrat party. These ideas that Wright is expressing aren't something isolated to him or his church, they are opinions overtly held by a sizable segment of black activist Democrats and have been for decades. They are the elephant in the Democrat's room right along with the anti-war protesters that hate soldiers and the Kos Kiddes that hate America.

As a source, I cite Obama's speech. He, himself, said that this was part of black culture in the U.S. I would also cite the black commentators that have been defending his & making excuses for Wright's remarks for the last two days.

There is a difference between Reagan's 11th commandment about not attacking Republicans on policy and this. Antisemitism, bigotry, anti-Americanism and other hate speech are expunged from the Republican Party as soon as they are spotted, not ignored for political gain. Which is what she and other Democratic Politicians have been doing for decades.

Ferraro didn't just fall off of the turnip truck. Anyone who pays attention to the news or reads any recent history books knows about ideas like Wright's and that people who hold those ideas and similar make up a sizable Democrat voting block. Ferraro didn't just fall off of the turnip truck. She's not some bright-eyed idealist fresh out of college. She is a political insider. She was a Congresswoman and candidate for Vice President. She knew the bigotry & hatred was there staring her straight in the face and she ignored it, and she didn't just ignore it, she profited politically from it.

But now, when a finger has been pointed at her, when the evil has been exposed and she has been compared to it directly. Now out comes the liberal outrage, now she is willing to call it what it is, what she has known it to be for a long, long time.
