Via HuffPo. Answer: Better than you, me, or even Chris Matthews in the grip of a full-on thrill-up-the-leg funk-seizure. Amazing.

I never watch this show; so at first I thought it was an america’s funniest home video clip :P

She’s a good dancer though. Dancing is still stupid, though :P

lorien1973 on March 19, 2008 at 5:27 PM

Unfortunately, I’m deaf and a guy and I’m expected to lead. :P She did a great job though.

Vatican Watcher on March 19, 2008 at 5:27 PM

Marlee is hot!

Wade on March 19, 2008 at 5:27 PM

Hot!

withoutfeathers on March 19, 2008 at 5:27 PM

if you don’t notice… the bass is pretty heavy. She is dancing to the vibrations.

Either way it was pretty impressive. Even if it is Dancing with the Liberals.

upinak on March 19, 2008 at 5:27 PM

I don’t dance…. don’t ask me.

Warner Todd Huston on March 19, 2008 at 5:27 PM

Even if it is Dancing with the Liberals

Vibration doesn’t do too much from my own experience. I think their trick was what she said in the interview before her dance. It’s not in the clip here. She was watching him all the time. They did very little where she wasn’t facing him and when they did, he kept his hand on her in some way, either on her arm or at the top of his head. It was subtle, but still there.

Vatican Watcher on March 19, 2008 at 5:37 PM

I dance, but only as an excuse to grope hot chicks. In other words, if it’s not slow I’m going back to eating.

Darth Executor on March 19, 2008 at 5:38 PM

That was really lousy, but what can you say, she’s deaf.

TheSitRep on March 19, 2008 at 5:38 PM

Marlee ROCKS! Incredible.

ihasurnominashun on March 19, 2008 at 5:40 PM

What?

Vatican Watcher on March 19, 2008 at 5:37 PM

True.. I have a deaf friend who goes out with me occationally. She can dance, but she stand right next to the speaker to feel the vibrations.

upinak on March 19, 2008 at 5:40 PM

She did wonderfully!

Nice to see the Newsbusters folks here too!

rightside on March 19, 2008 at 5:40 PM

The answer to AP’s question: much better than I can with my two good ears and my two left feet. Plus, she’s got one more kid than I do and she still looks hot in that dress. I’m feeling so inadequate right now . . .

awwwww… HUGS!

upinak on March 19, 2008 at 5:46 PM

The girl has guts!

KBird on March 19, 2008 at 5:50 PM

When I do the tango (my favorite dance), I don’t really listen to the beat, I pay attention to the cues my lead is giving me through his hands and the way his upper body moves. I think there are lots of ball room dances that can be used that way.

But whatevs, still awesome for a deaf lady.

mjk on March 19, 2008 at 5:51 PM

Didn’t know what to expect there. Profoundly deaf… that’s amazing!Good for her!Bless her heart!

christophercube on March 19, 2008 at 5:51 PM

upinak on March 19, 2008 at 5:40 PM

That was my first thought too, still neat. As for me dancing, nah, not so much.

doubleplusundead on March 19, 2008 at 6:02 PM

Great show

Mike Mose on March 19, 2008 at 6:07 PM

She was great and gutsy. But the dancing is not all that great. Still a million times better than anything Chris Matthews did, does, or ever will do.

jencab on March 19, 2008 at 6:13 PM

REally surprised me last night. Monica Seles didn’t deserve last place, though! The Broadway chick did!

SouthernGent on March 19, 2008 at 6:19 PM

Yeah well…I still haven’t forgiven Matlin for agreeing to do this horrendously-insulting scene from the L Word.

Frankly, I hope she gets voted off.

The Ugly American on March 19, 2008 at 6:29 PM

It is an abomination. (The scene from The L Word)

snaggletoothie on March 19, 2008 at 8:00 PM

That was brilliant dancing but what if they hadn’t been good dancers and the panel had to break it to the that they were crap? I assume they had been extensively screened so as not to demean the deaf community.

aengus on March 19, 2008 at 8:56 PM

One does not need good music or even audible music to dance well. Any person who can really dance, can so so with no music whatsoever. It is harder for a couple to dance well with no music. But good dance couples can pull it off.

Also there are a lot of deaf people who dance better than this chick. I think she acts like she dances — a bit overdone.

Guys who say they don’t dance likely can’t dance. You have two varieties of non-dancers: 1) Guys who never learned because they were so self-conscious about looking stupid. 2) Guys that don’t care about looking stupid when surrounded by gaggles of giggling women.

Aside from the tang factor, some songs just make you dance. If you have never been that touched by music, your music sucks.

Even if you can’t dance, at least find the beat and bob your head to it. It’s to your benefit. If one has rhythm while standing, it typically follows that he can also get his horizontal groove on.

The Race Card on March 19, 2008 at 9:12 PM

Talk about rhythm!

ackrite55 on March 19, 2008 at 10:21 PM

Guys who say they don’t dance likely can’t dance.

The Race Card on March 19, 2008 at 9:12 PM

Just “likely”? We know our limitations.

-somebody with less rhythm than a catapulted rock

steveegg on March 19, 2008 at 10:25 PM

Randy thought is was a little pitchy.

I don’t know how far Marlee Maitlin is going to go in this competition, but it doesn’t matter. She once again is proving, rather magnificifiently, that any handicap can be overcome, even deafness. She has been and will always be one of my all time favorite celebrities.

pilamaye on March 20, 2008 at 7:14 AM

I thought she did a great job, and yes, she is hot. But I’m not surprised. Years ago, I watched a troup of deaf dancers. Some others watching them had no idea that they were deaf until I told them.

Bigfoot on March 20, 2008 at 9:25 AM

Awww…I thought this post was a joke – like “why do farts smell? So the deaf can enjoy them as well”

LimeyGeek on March 20, 2008 at 10:42 AM

PS. She is certainly a babe, with some great moves!

The Ugly American on March 19, 2008 at 6:29 PM
OMGawd… appreciate the heads up, we had no idea that she would participate in such a sick, twisted, vulgar display.
GO YAMAGUCHI(sp?)!!!GO OVERTIME!!!

christophercube on March 20, 2008 at 11:17 AM

I just got one ping on my “offense-o-meter” at the title of this post…but it’s fine. She’s beautiful and dances well.
I hope she wins. Whatever “winning” entails-I’ve never seen the show.
