Only more southerly Muslims are safe to trust train and arm aren't they? You can trust Muslims can't you?

Just kidding, I'm sure it will all work out for the best.

Yet more evidence that those who live under the rule of Islam have the mind set of a medieval serf. Except, of course, for the one percent who believe themselves to be princes of Islam and the one or two guys who think they should be caliph.

It's hereditary rule, and a feudal society.

Kadyrov himself will not outlive anyone. If he decides to openly fight the official Moscow, he'll be killed. The problem is that Chechens aren't loyal Russian citizens, and Chechnya is a part of Russia only on paper.

Here's an interesting set of pictures of Chechnya. It shows both the good and the bad stuff. Notice passages from Koran on some pictures. You could not have passages from the Bible on public property in any other region of Russia. I'm not religious and I wouldn't want no passages from the Bible. But the double standard is no better.

I don't care what anybody says, this is completely different than the US buying the Sunni "Sons of Iraq" insurgents.

irishspy: Your point is well-taken.

I can't recall the source of this observation, but when someone asked the name of the new Russian president, the questioner was told, "P-U-T-I-N".

Ed: <blockquote>Kadyrov remains fiercely loyal to Putin — but Putin will no longer hold the Russian presidency after May.</blockquote>

Pfft. Tzar Vladimir is the real power in Russia, no matter how many iPhone-addicted puppets he installs in the presidency. If he gets too big for his britches, Kadyrov will have a <strike>convenient </strike>tragic accident.

played nice with Russia, but they were called terrorists
at one point and Putin is now friends, and some Russian
soldiers and Chechen soldiers are now barrack buddies!

Me thinks there's something running amuck here!
