freevillage, I have to say that acting as if someone is ducking an issue because they won’t come to Boston to deliver a lecture is downright silly. It’s a cheap rhetorical trick that’s beneath you intellectually.

The coy hints about your qualifications and pedigree are getting tedious, too. Out with it, ok? What are your degrees, and where from? If you’re going to be a credentialist ass insinuating appeals to authority, you might as well go whole-hog.

Sorry for the double, but I also wanted to point out that ANY scientist will tell you that declaring any scientific pursuit as ‘over’ and ‘done’ isn’t science. Scientist CONSTANTLY test law and theories with all methods available to ensure they are correct (they still test gravity for Christ’s sake). Al Gore apparently doesn’t care about the scientific theory.

I’m sorry but, did I really sleep through science class? Is “sea water” different than regular water. In short, doesn’t water contract when warmed and expand when cooled? Isn’t that why pipes burst when they freeze? Are these “real scientists” writing these articles? So many questions and so little time before we all drown.

you musta slept through about 5 mintues of it. :) Water expands and ultimately turns to steam when warmed. It contracts when cooled until it is totally frozen when it re-expands a bit becaue it behaves differently than most liquids and forms a crystal-like structure that makes it re-expand a bit.

Seriosuly though; the data does show temperatures have increased (last year’s precipitous decline not withstanding). It also shows there is a lot more pollution. I am all for doing thinks that cut down on pollutants. That has been a field that has been studied for a long time.
however, the global warming ‘science’ is less than 20 years old and for people like Al Gore to declare ‘the debate is over’ is as laughable as the theologians in the middle ages declariing that ‘the debate is over’ about a geo-centric universe, flat earth etc. which we all now know (after they studied it for longer than 20 years) was an erroneous view.
Should we continue to monitor it? Yes. Should we continue to perfect research techniques so the data is more reliable? Sure. Should we make broad, economy crippling decisions based on a science in its infancy? Uh, no.

Actually water is densest when it’s frozen on Lake Margrethe in Grayling, Michigan and is still 2 feet thick on March 19th!
I sure hope that global warming works out for Algore, cause it certainly would be nice to have a little heat before July!
