In related news, Al Gore thinks that a differentiable function is continuous. The Republicans denounce calculus books.

freevillage, I have to say that acting as if someone is ducking an issue because they won't come to Boston to deliver a lecture is downright silly. It's a cheap rhetorical trick that's beneath you intellectually.

The coy hints about your qualifications and pedigree are getting tedious, too. Out with it, ok? What are your degrees, and where from? If you're going to be a credentialist ass insinuating appeals to authority, you might as well go whole-hog.

Phoenix is the most constant weather in the country. Easy to forecast, easy to predict, right??? When they can get the forecast right a week from today, than tell me what will happen 10, 20, 50, or 100 years from now. How arrogant we humans are. This planet has been around for what 5 plus billion years. To think we could effect the global temps, up or down is too silly to have anyone believe, right? RIGHT???

Can you not see that this is just another example of the power of Bush/Cheney/Big Oil?? If they can control the Weather i.e. Katrina, then certainly they can control the temperature of the Oceans. I'm super serious.

however, the global warming ’science’ is less than 20 years old and for people like Al Gore to declare ‘the debate is over’ is as laughable

Sorry for the double, but I also wanted to point out that ANY scientist will tell you that declaring any scientific pursuit as 'over' and 'done' isn't science. Scientist CONSTANTLY test law and theories with all methods available to ensure they are correct (they still test gravity for Christ's sake). Al Gore apparently doesn't care about the scientific theory.

I’m sorry but, did I really sleep through science class? Is “sea water” different than regular water. In short, doesn’t water contract when warmed and expand when cooled? Isn’t that why pipes burst when they freeze? Are these “real scientists” writing these articles? So many questions and so little time before we all drown.

you musta slept through about 5 mintues of it. :) Water expands and ultimately turns to steam when warmed. It contracts when cooled until it is totally frozen when it re-expands a bit becaue it behaves differently than most liquids and forms a crystal-like structure that makes it re-expand a bit.

Seriosuly though; the data does show temperatures have increased (last year's precipitous decline not withstanding). It also shows there is a lot more pollution. I am all for doing thinks that cut down on pollutants. That has been a field that has been studied for a long time.
however, the global warming 'science' is less than 20 years old and for people like Al Gore to declare 'the debate is over' is as laughable as the theologians in the middle ages declariing that 'the debate is over' about a geo-centric universe, flat earth etc. which we all now know (after they studied it for longer than 20 years) was an erroneous view.
Should we continue to monitor it? Yes. Should we continue to perfect research techniques so the data is more reliable? Sure. Should we make broad, economy crippling decisions based on a science in its infancy? Uh, no.

People like freevillage are still patiently waiting for someone to agree to come to their school and give a talk full of facts to a hostile audience. There, I fixed it for you.

Why?

Heck, Lindzen is from MIT, no? Why don’t you go sit at his feet for awhile? You might learn something.

He'll be part of the audience.

I did not promise you a private jet, just a coach seat in a commercial airliner of your choosing. We’ll also pay for lodging and restaurants and bars. We do treat our visitors very well. Promise.

We’re just asking for a well prepared and reasonably delivered talk in return.

This man has uber credentials, a new book, publications in peer reviewed journals, and used to have his powerpoint presentation online here.

Hey freevillage, nobody here really gives a rat's arse much what you folks "outside Boston" think. They have Gibbs and Sawyer Colleges outside Boston too. FYI - Judith Curry just had Steve McIntyre down to Georgia Tech to speak at a Climate symposium, and he has the Powerpoint of his presentation available at Climate Audit. Why don't you go and educate yourself and maybe he would be willing to take up your offer. Heck, Lindzen is from MIT, no? Why don't you go sit at his feet for awhile?

Turns out the predictive modeling there was all wrong, too.

I've worked with many kinds of simulators for almost 25 years.
I can tell you this; You can have the most powerful, accurate, fastest, superdooper simulator in the world, but if your models are crap, then the results of any simulation is GIGO - Garbage In, Garbage Out.

I’m sure, browsing online is how they do research at Liberty University. We have slightly different standards, which I’m happy to report have resulted in a not-so-slightly different reputation.

Yeah, I can tell already what a respectful and interested reception the "infidels" would receive in your backyard.

Why don't you invite Lomborg or McIntyre or Lindzen instead of engaging in pointless internet forum tactics that verge on comment spam?

You see, addressing the information presented would be commenting, demanding someone come draw you a picture and hold your hand is trolling.

I’m pretty sure that flying someone to Boston to enlighten a ‘curious audience’ like freevillage suggests would pour some major carbon into the atmosphere, no?

I did not promise you a private jet, just a coach seat in a commercial airliner of your choosing. We'll also pay for lodging and restaurants and bars. We do treat our visitors very well. Promise.

We're just asking for a well prepared and reasonably delivered talk in return.

Do they not have the internet in Boston, where a truly ‘curious audience’ could do a little research on their own? Oh well, maybe they aren’t such a ‘curious audience’ after all…

Some 3,000 scientific robots that are plying the ocean have sent home a puzzling message....

It’s … possible that some of the heat has gone even deeper into the ocean, he says.

Don't submarines constantly monitor the ocean temps as the travel through it looking for the thermocline layer?

If so lets keep our subs out on patrol mapping the temperature changes all in the name of <strike>global warming</strike> <strike>global cooling</strike> defense.
Its a win win.

Science will get more data, it wont be able to explain, and our military is doing their job.

Oh wow. I just noticed that the Goracle himself has an Advertisement on the right sidebar that flshes up from time to time. A big one too! Awesome. Glad he's spending his $$ at HotAir.

"There has been a very slight cooling, but not anything really significant," Willis says. So the buildup of heat on Earth may be on a brief hiatus. "Global warming doesn't mean every year will be warmer than the last. And it may be that we are in a period of less rapid warming."

This part was my favorite. Actual temperature readings were cooler, so we conclude that heat buildup must be on a brief hiatus. Got that? It may be that we're in a period of less rapid warming.

Cooler = heat buildup hiatus.
Cooler = less rapid warming.
5 years cooler = not every year warmer.

Orwell much, dude?

Don't worry guys, even if this global warming
crisis
turns out to be another load of farm fresh, they'll come up with a new one to panic and scam the world with eventually. Humanity is gullible and scam artists like Gore know it.

Water is densest at 40 degrees F. Above or below that temperature, it expands. It is that unique property that prevents the oceans from freezing solid with only a thin liquid veneer at its surface, as it would if water behaved like any other substance.

Actually water is densest when it's frozen on Lake Margrethe in Grayling, Michigan and is still 2 feet thick on March 19th!
I sure hope that global warming works out for Algore, cause it certainly would be nice to have a little heat before July!
