That goes double in the wake of the Hagee uproar

Must have missed that…

Hagee has been accused of antisemitism because he said the suffering of the Jews is because of their rebellion against God. He also blamed Hurricane Katrina on the USA's sinful state of affairs.
To me, niether of these statements compare, and I would tend to agree with them, but Hageee is too whacked out on other things for me to endorse or defend him in any way.

I had a pretty bad impression in my mind about Falwell for many years. But the conclusion I came to is it was all the impression put forth by the God-hating liberal media. While never having met Falwell personally, I do know he was solid theologically. And he took a lot of heat for saying God sent judgment on us for one thing or another. I dont know the mind of God, but in His sovereignty He certainly could have. This country certainly has a divine judgment coming, if for nothing else for sacrificing 40-50 million of our own citizens on the alter of "choice."

Then in early 2009 when McShame tries to force the revamped amnesty bill through again…Mccain will be impeached and America will finally have a great president!

What are you smoking dude? I'd really like some. I'm one of those who will be holding her nose when voting for McCain. If he were dumb enough to put the Huckster on the ticket with him, I don't know if I'd be able to stifle my gag reflex long enough to cast a vote.

For those of us who Googled Huckster when he first appeared on the political scene last fall, we discovered that he's very much PRO-amnesty. Oh I know he put out a pretty paper trying to refute that fact, but most of us weren't fooled. Try Googling Huckabee/LaRaza, that was quite a speech he made calling his fellow citizens bigots and racists. He jumped thru hoops to get a Mexican consulate in Little Rock. What, pray tell does Little Rock need with a Mexican consulate?

While you're at it, Google Huckabee/ethics complaints......yes that's complaintS.....pure as the driven snow he's not!! There must be something in the water in Hope, Arkansas.

I consider myself a good (not perfect) Christian. I also believe the man upstairs gave me a brain and expects me to use it. That includes not being fooled by a huckster.

Falwell vs. Wright? Now that's a really bad comparison.

When did you ever hear Falwell do any race-baiting? When did Falwell attack his own country? When did Falwell encourage people to be the victims, because America was against them?

The closest thing you could find is probably shortly after 9/11, when Falwell tried to tie the attacks to moral decay in the nation, a comment for which he apologized days later. As he should have.

No, he wasn't perfect. He occasionally said some foolish things. But he was always sincere, always patriotic, and never hateful.

Mike Huckabee was attacked and burned at the stake here just like on Huffington Post, they burned him over there too.

So what makes you guys different than the posters over there anyway??

AprilOrit on March 19, 2008 at 5:35 PM

We are not as lucky as they are.

The posters over there probably don't have some hysterical person like you telling them what evil haters they are and accusing them of burning people at the stake. That would be for starts.

And, by the way, how does a Christian say, “I’d probably have a chip on my shoulder too?” I thought we thought sin (lies) was wrong, end of conversation?

Ever hear of, "If not for the Grace of God..." It's responding as a human being aware of human frailty and our sinful condition. It seems a ton of people are carrying a chip on their shoulder just because Huckabee ran a campaign and beat their guy or in their mind cost their guy.

Huckabee is smarter than most here give him credit for. What he did with his statement on Wright was not so much defend Wright as to defend a lot of other people who sympathize with his anger even if they'd never use his repulsive words.

Perhaps it's too late, I had to leave, but I support Alan Keyes.

And, proportionally, Huckabee spoke more than Romney.

P.S. Frank Rich loved Huck.

Huckabee is such a mental midget. Again he reminds me what I don't like about when religious people go into politics.

The only reason Huckabee defends Obama/Wright is because he too is an identity playing politician of the highest order. That's why he understands it and accepts it, it's not because of any great wisdom or that there is a logical aspect to that kind of thinking. He just sees himself in it.

Yes that would be terrible if Mike Huckabee acutually is a practicing Christian and running for office…..we certainly wouldn’t want an honest man as president.

We want a sinner, who lies and is easily influenced by the devil…like Mitt Romney or Mccain or Hildebeast or Hussein O.

SaintOlaf on March 19, 2008 at 6:42 PM

That is why I said he was our last hope, he was honest, he was candid, he was a compassinate Conservative who believes in helping those who are the most in need.

I see nothing wrong with that.

Regarding the others I have no idea if they were influenced by the Devil, but I knew Rudy was not what he said he was, his divorce was horrible.

I believe marriage is for life, I am engaged and my man is a lifer for me. Ahnd if I felt differently I wouldn't be planning my wedding.

I would love a President who at least has not cheated on his wife, wouldn't that be refreshing for sure.

It's a fallacy to say that all or many black churches practice the kind of malcolmX/nation of islam inspired hatred that Hussein Obama's "church" practices.

I have been to many black churches and that is not the case.

Look at one of the best and most famous black churches.... Rev. Creflo Dollar/World Changers ministries....he has a huge and majority black church and he is NOT an Obama supporter and would never condone Hussein O's support of gay marriage or abortion or racism.

Imam Wright's "church" is considered heretical, non Biblical and is really just a political action group with ties to nation of islam.

As I say, I'm just the messenger. Their traffic has increased by over 250% in the last 12 months.
SaintOlaf, if McCain picks Huckabee as his VP I'll have given up all hope that he cares about winning over his conservative critics.

Yes that would be terrible if Mike Huckabee acutually is a practicing Christian and running for office.....we certainly wouldn't want an honest man as president.

We want a sinner, who lies and is easily influenced by the devil...like Mitt Romney or Mccain or Hildebeast or Hussein O.

I just feel Mike Huckabee was not given a fair chance here, he was treated the same way he was treated on Huff Po, DU, Daily Kos, he was not given any kindness, he was thrown to the lions before he even had a chance, and that's unfortunate.

He should have been treated with a little more respect, he was among friends here and people treated him so unkindly, it's hurtful at best.

The cross did not bother me, it was during the holidays. And we never established if it was intentional anyway.

Look, I am a jew and I am willing to cut anyone some slack during Christmas. I mean it's Christmas, it's the season for crosses, so is Easter.

But he didn't throw it in people's faces. he did not wear his religion on his sleeve.

Rod,

Even IF you are right about that....500,000 or 1,000,000 per month less is still 6 million to 12 million per year!

As for advertising revenue.. that could potentially account for $6-12 million less annually.

Considering that many internet based businesses trade for 25X multiple, that could account for potentially $150 million to $300 million decrease in the market value of the company.

Michelle should be furious.

Now try to imagine what kind of impact it would be if Juan decided NOT to have Huck as his VP.......you would be watching the inaugeration of President Hildebeast Clinton.

Mccain needs the evangelicals...without us he will lose.

Mccain selecting Huckabee as VP is the only way that he will be able to get the evangelical vote.

FWIW, I'm an Evangelical Christian & supported Thompson until he dropped out.

In the first place, explain why the LEft hailed Huckabee as the new Right-wing leader, if it’s anti-christian bias against Huck.

Haven’t you noticed the huge drop in hits on this website since you banned/demonized the Huckabee supporters?

Threads used to have an average of 400-1,000 comments each… now it’s more like 30-100 comments on average.

Unfortunately for you, you are probably losing millions in advertising revenue because of this.

I'm just the messenger here so don't shoot me, but if you just click on the site-meter icon below left, you can see that HotAir will probably reach a record high of visits this month. They are a little over half-way into the month with already 4.5 million visits - only 500k or so behind the two highest months of Jan. and Feb.

In the first place, explain why the LEft hailed Huckabee as the new Right-wing leader, if it’s anti-christian bias against Huck.

emailnuevo on March 19, 2008 at 5:46 PM

The left did NOT support Huckabee. I can't believe you used that argument. The left hailed Huckabee.... what a joke. That is a complete myth. Did you see the CNN and MSNBC Republican television debates? They wouldn't let Gov. Huckabee speak!

MSNBC Republican debate.

Total Speaking Times
Romney: 21:11, during 13 times
McCain: 16:00, during 13 times
Giuliani: 13:50, during 11 times
Huckabee: 12:11, during nine times
Paul: 6:31, during six times

And the CNN one with Andy (bias) Cooper.

Mitt Romney was given 17 questions.
John McCain was given 15 questions.
Mike Huckabee was given 11 questions.

The main stream media was forcing McCain and Romney onto us as the only candidates that we have to choose from. So whatever kind of point you were going for, you missed.

In the second, the church used to be noble and good, committed to ideals, and would not have thought of endorsing someone who proclaims slavery to be equivalent to the current immigration policy.

You're taking Huckabee's comments out of context. He never meant it like you portray. Talk about bearing false witness -- lying (9th Commandment). They already had laws dealing with immigration in Arkansas. He was talking about new laws for the purpose of demagoguery. And I'm strong on immigration and even building a border fence if necessary.

It’s not a cheap shot at Huckabee; his campaign is based on a lie,

Calling Huckabee a snake-oil salesmen who peddled liberalism in virtually every area is not a cheap shot? Your ridiculous little opinion has been noted.

By the same token, calling a phony a phony isn’t name-calling.

It is if you're wrong about the man.

You never answered, who did you support?
