When GEN Petraeus spoke to us 4 weeks ago he made a small crack at himself about last September, and what it would be like to go back this Spring. I admire his sense of humor.

A man who has successfully led large forces in war can probably stand a little gasbaggery from some of “The World’s Greatest Deliberative Body”…

Petraeus has entirely too much class to lower himself to her level. I expect him to let bygones be bygones and press his case for the proper execution of the war plan to accomplish the mission.

The operative word in Article 88 is ‘contemptuous,’ not ‘delicious irony.’ There are ways to bitchslap people while being perfectly respectful…expressing relief at having finally met with her satisfaction is one.

But unless he has plans to retire soon it will still never happen because he knows she holds serious grudges and she may one day be his boss. However, we can expect to see either a sardonic grin somewhere in his otherwise normal delivery or a stone cold stare throughout the entire proceedings.

I don’t believe that all Democrats are mindless followers-many crossed the great divide and voted for George Bush in 2004, realizing that Kerry was not someone they wanted in the Oval office. Many Dems,in my opinion, are quietly waiting for the election and the privacy of the voting booth, where they will vote for McCain simply because he is more trustworthy than either Obama or Clinton.
Clinton belongs to an earlier age, when a politician crossing the country could tell every whistlestop exactly what they wanted to hear,irregardless of the truth. Obama’s only chance is to ride White Guilt all the way to victory. Too bad for him only Liberals wallow in white guilt.

Freevillage is correct. Military folks have to kiss politician’s butts, but usually there are other friendly politicians ready to run interference for them. But once you leave the military you can say anything you wish, unless it is classified secret information.

WRONG! Hillary Clinton is not in General Petreaus’ present chain of command, and hopefully never will be.

However, Article 88 of the Uniformed Code of Military Justice states as follows:

Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Transportation, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.

Simply stated, that lying two faced crooked backstabbing witch is free and clear to say anything to or about a patriot like the General she chooses. Unfortunately the General is compelled under military law to show respect, even to those who deserve it the least.
