Hillary salutes “an extraordinary leader and a wonderful advocate of our military”

…whose sworn testimony on a matter of gravest national import supposedly isn’t worthy of belief and whose honor she couldn’t bring herself to defend lest it pit her against the left’s bottom-feeding vanguard at MoveOn.org. Consider this an early incarnation of that “ceremonial, crap-eating mea culpa” we’re in store for next month, as well as a useful reminder that when it comes to embracing the dregs of the left out of political expedience, Obama’s got nothing on Her Majesty. Via Goldfarb:

As critical as she is about the Bush administration’s conduct of the Iraq war, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton gave a relatively rare shout-out to the military’s top man in Baghdad, General David Petraeus, calling him “an extraordinary leader and a wonderful advocate for our military.”…

At a town hall meeting just now, Mrs. Clinton laid out her plan to withdraw troops from Iraq, noting she would rely on “the best military advice we can get” to devise a “very thoughtful” approach to start removing troops within 60 days of taking office.

As she concluded her remarks, she noted that American forces in Iraq were led by “an extraordinary leader and a wonderful advocate of our military.”

I hope after she launches into her ass-kissing, congratulatory introductory remarks about the security gains when he testifies next month that he has the stones to remind her of her grandstanding about what a supposed liar he is. Nothing indignant; just a pointed “I’m glad you find me more persuasive this time, senator” will do.

That would be pure, unadulterated awesome.

Is it just me, or has Allah been introducing “ass” more often as of late?

Best advice? Take your surrender agenda and shove it, Cankles.

If he says anything like that, he should be discharged immediately. But he won’t. And yes, Hillary is simply not credible on war.

On what grounds?

MarkABinVA on March 19, 2008 at 6:22 PM

Utterly shameless.

Cicero43 on March 19, 2008 at 6:22 PM

Wuzza? But…she…but…but…she…

The kahones on that chick. She has no scruples whatsoever does she? Not even a scruple of scruples.

29Victor on March 19, 2008 at 6:24 PM

On what grounds?

She’s the civilian authority in this case. His job is to respectfully deliver his honest opinion. The Republicans in the Congress and outside of it will do the politics.

freevillage on March 19, 2008 at 6:24 PM

La Hillary so begins her movement towards the “center”.

SouthernGent on March 19, 2008 at 6:25 PM

After allowing this decent man’s character to be questioned by supporters of hers, I am still in suspended disbelief at the size of Czarina Cankles chutzpah to comment any further.

Branch Rickey on March 19, 2008 at 6:25 PM

in order for me to believe you Hill, requires a ‘willing suspension of disbelief’

CaptainObvious on March 19, 2008 at 6:28 PM

Any normal person wouldn’t have the gall.

petefrt on March 19, 2008 at 6:30 PM

“Hillary - calling him “an extraordinary leader and a wonderful advocate for our military.”…”

I’m surprised that she was even able to spit that out without chocking on every single word.

Is it wrong to have a little Schadenfreude before diner?

freevillage on March 19, 2008 at 6:24 PM

She is NOT in the civilian authority above him. She’s in CONGRESS, not part of the executive branch, nor part of the Pentagon. She is NOT part of his chain of command.

She’s a F’n Politician, who made a PERSONAL insult to his HONOR… It would be great if he answered that slur.

Romeo13 on March 19, 2008 at 6:38 PM

This is going to require my willful suspension of disbelief.

SaintOlaf on March 19, 2008 at 6:39 PM

Simple, really. Petraeus is on his way farther up. He will be in the chain of command near the top, and she wants to be C-in-C. Time to mend some public fences.

In private, I do believe the mutual feelings between HRC & Petraeus will be evident.

And yes, she is one cold, calculating… candidate.

cs89 on March 19, 2008 at 6:40 PM

Hmmmmmm!! During Senate hearings she calls General Petraeus a liar then this. Obama says he never heard Wright spout invectives and now he has….. and the media has the temerity to make a stink of McCain’s small mistake about Iran….sheesh…. this campaign is toooooo long. Pres. Kennedy didn’t announce his candidacy until 11 months before he won!!

MNDavenotPC on March 19, 2008 at 6:41 PM

My disbelief will not suspend… I think I need to place a service call…

Maybe he could subtly work in something about “pearls before swine.”

You people need to learn how to spell. It’s a Spanish slang word, not a transliteration from the Hebrew: It’s cojones, not kahones. Oy!

Just WHO the F does she think she is? Hillary, bite it.

Oh my, let the eating of crow commence!

So did Billary “suspend all reality” in order to call Petraeus “an extraordinary leader and a wonderful advocate for our military.”…

What a piece of work she is…let her eat crow and I hope she chokes on it!!

How is this in any way surprising? You all are aware that her last name is Clinton, right?

Hollowpoint on March 19, 2008 at 7:17 PM

Romeo13 beat me to it, but I’ll roll with it and try to expound.

She’s the civilian authority in this case.

freevillage on March 19, 2008 at 6:24 PM

WRONG! Hillary Clinton is not in General Petreaus’ present chain of command, and hopefully never will be.

However, Article 88 of the Uniformed Code of Military Justice states as follows:

Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Transportation, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.

Simply stated, that lying two faced crooked backstabbing witch is free and clear to say anything to or about a patriot like the General she chooses. Unfortunately the General is compelled under military law to show respect, even to those who deserve it the least.

Empty words from a cheap politician.

So which is he, Evita:

The “…extraordinary leader and a wonderful advocate of our military.” you called him today?

OR

The lying sack of crap you called him (not in so many words, but we got the gist) last fall?

To quote Jasper Woodcock, “It’s a rhetorical question. Means it doesn’t have an answer.”

Excuse me, but what a phony b*tch. She doesn’t deserve to even be in the same room as him.

someguy on March 19, 2008 at 8:44 PM

What a weird thread.

Patraeus isn’t going to utter a snide rejoinder, not in a million years. He’s a General in the most professional army in the world. The fact that freevillage seems to understand this but most commenters don’t is a bad sign.

aengus on March 19, 2008 at 9:11 PM

Freevillage is correct. Military folks have to kiss politician’s butts, but usually there are other friendly politicians ready to run interference for them. But once you leave the military you can say anything you wish, unless it is classified secret information.

JonRoss on March 19, 2008 at 9:43 PM

It’s a damn shame the so-called “civilian authority” doesn’t have to live up to the same high standards the military set for themeselves.

The Hildebeest — and Bubba, for that matter — would have been court-martialed for their attitude toward the military beginning way back in 1992.

She’s still scum, just as she was back then.

MrScribbler on March 19, 2008 at 9:53 PM

I can’t wait until this bitch is political toast.

revolution on March 19, 2008 at 10:43 PM

Un-Freaking believable! I shouldn’t be surprised….she is PIAPS.

It is fun to speculate about the General getting a smack or two in. He’s too much an officer and gentleman tho, he may think it but would never let it show. That man deserves more respect than she should ever have even if pres.

Proudvet on March 19, 2008 at 11:54 PM

I don’t believe that all Democrats are mindless followers-many crossed the great divide and voted for George Bush in 2004, realizing that Kerry was not someone they wanted in the Oval office. Many Dems,in my opinion, are quietly waiting for the election and the privacy of the voting booth, where they will vote for McCain simply because he is more trustworthy than either Obama or Clinton.
Clinton belongs to an earlier age, when a politician crossing the country could tell every whistlestop exactly what they wanted to hear, irregardless of the truth. Obama’s only chance is to ride White Guilt all the way to victory. Too bad for him only Liberals wallow in white guilt.

Doug on March 20, 2008 at 12:45 AM

I’m sure there will be a great temptation for the military to salute Sen Clinton with a less-than-standard number of fingers…

landlines on March 20, 2008 at 2:01 AM

General Petraeus is my hero.

Talk to the hand Hillary.

Domino on March 20, 2008 at 2:02 AM

The operative word in Article 88 is ‘contemptuous,’ not ‘delicious irony.’ There are ways to bitchslap people while being perfectly respectful…expressing relief at having finally met with her satisfaction is one.

But unless he has plans to retire soon it will still never happen because he knows she holds serious grudges and she may one day be his boss. However, we can expect to see either a sardonic grin somewhere in his otherwise normal delivery or a stone cold stare throughout the entire proceedings.

James on March 20, 2008 at 7:45 AM

Petraeus has entirely too much class to lower himself to her level. I expect him to let bygones be bygones and press his case for the proper execution of the war plan to accomplish the mission.

Liberty or Death on March 20, 2008 at 11:52 AM

When GEN Petraeus spoke to us 4 weeks ago he made a small crack at himself about last September, and what it would be like to go back this Spring. I admire his sense of humor.

A man who has successfully led large forces in war can probably stand a little gasbaggery from some of “The World’s Greatest Deliberative Body”…
