In the end, I hope it’s Clinton vs. McCain. That way we can just read the first chapter to see how it will all turn out.

Weight of Glory on March 15, 2008 at 9:37 PM

The most Liberal Senator. McCain isn’t perfect, but I have supported for quite a while now. I mean we have a guy who has 80% from the ACU vs a guy with 4%.
McCain isn’t great on immigration, but I like him everywhere else. I am especially socially Conservative, and I think that he will serve our country well.
Who knows, the way things are going in Iraq maybe the Dems voting to defund the troops will work about as well as the time they gave our canal away.

“The Real Reason For America’s [looming] Recession 3-13-8″

I hope the following 14 reasons for the United States financial “recession” disaster are forwarded over and over again, until American Citizens get the message and demand better government. I have included the URL’s for verification of all the following facts. [I however have not as they will not allow this comment to post]

1. $11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year.

2. $2.2 Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens.

3. $2.5 Billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid for illegal aliens.

4. $12 Billion dollars a year is spent on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and they cannot speak a word of English!

5. $17 Billion dollars a year is spent for education for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies.

6. $3 Million Dollars a DAY is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens.

7. 30% percent of all Federal Prison inmates are illegal aliens.

8. $90 Billion Dollars a year is spent on illegal aliens for Welfare & social services by the American taxpayers.

9. $200 Billion Dollars a year in suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal aliens.

10. The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that’s two and a half times that of white non-illegal aliens. In particular, their children, are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the US

11. During the year of 2005 there were 4 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our Southern Border also, as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from Terrorist Countries. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth., heroin and marijuana, crossed into the U. S from the Southern border. Homeland Security Report

12. The National Policy Institute, ‘estimated that the total cost of mass deportation would be between $206 and $230 billion or an average cost of between $41 and $46 billion annually over a five year period.’

13. In 2006 illegal aliens sent home $45 BILLION in remittances back to their countries of origin.

14. ‘The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration: Nearly One Million Sex Crimes Committed by Illegal Immigrants In The United States ‘.

The total cost is a whopping $ 338.3 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR!!!”

SouthernGent on March 15, 2008 at 9:51 PM

What’s this about the 1970′s, and the US deporting 10 million illegals…? OK, time for some research on that.

But either way…no one, Repub or Dem, Congress or POTUS, is going to approve any mass deportation effort. First things first…secure the border!

McCain has pledged to do that.

JetBoy on March 15, 2008 at 9:55 PM

I read Obama’s Audacity of Hope and this is what he does: He takes the two extremes of an issue and then states he doesn’t believe that either is the solution.

terryannonline on March 15, 2008 at 9:56 PM

Thanks, SouthernGent. I missed that. I like how she closes:

BTW: Will Barack Obama join in again? How about McCain outreach director Juan Hernandez?

Contrary to MM, I think it’s not dumb of them to do this (in terms of their goals) because…well…they have eyes. They see who the top three candidates are. They can tell the score. Why not go for gusto?

Weight of Glory on March 15, 2008 at 9:57 PM

Zorro on March 15, 2008 at 9:50 PM

No one needs to round up the illegal aliens. The government just has to go after businesses that hire illegal aliens the same way they go after tax cheats. Asset seizure and prison time. The illegals will self-deport.

That “we’re a nation of immigrants” argument ticks me off. We’re a nation of LEGAL immigrants. We are also a nation of LAWS. If we stop being a nation of laws, we won’t be a nation at all. And if we continue to reward foreigners for coming here illegally, we will never stop illegal immigration.

AZCoyote on March 15, 2008 at 10:10 PM

I think you are right. I’ve always thought that Clinton just has to keep it close in delegates and popular vote. Then, when the final shoe drops on Obama, and the fleeing of the super delegates begin, their flight to Clinton won’t seem overly gratuitous. We’ll hear statements from super delegates for Obama along these lines: “In light of what I have just learned about Barack Obama, I can’t in good conscience support him, as I had planned to, for our party’s candidate.” If it plays out like that, it will allow the democratic big wigs and the media to be for the black guy before they were against him.

I love Lou Dobbs, truly. I admire him. He’s a guy who’s advocating an issue that is, at best, neutral to him. He’s rich. He can live in a gated community; send his kids to private schools; doesn’t have to compete with illegals for a job. And he does all this with the thank you of being called a racist by lefties (and wall-street whities). So let it be known, I admire this man. But has anyone noticed that he seems to be sluring his words?

Sean68 on March 15, 2008 at 10:36 PM

Racism! Sexism! Classim! And now culturism! All within “the most holy” Democrat party? I am shocked!!

RMR on March 15, 2008 at 10:36 PM

Obama is not going to get much traction out of this “we either have to give the illegals amnesty or we have to deport them all (which we can’t do)” argument. The American public knows what’s happening in Arizona — the state (at the insistence of its fed-up citizens) passed a law to seriously penalize employers who hire illegal aliens, and illegal aliens have been voluntarily leaving the state in large numbers.

The solution to illegal immigration is neither massive amnesty nor massive deportation. The solution is to enforce the law!

AZCoyote on March 15, 2008 at 10:37 PM

Clinton News Network laying the smacketh down on Obama!? Right on!

Wea are a nation of immigrants, oppertunity, and most importantly, LAWS. So many seem to forget that last one. You come here just to form gangs and break the laws selling drugs or whatever, I will help bust you myself.

As far as mass rounding, you dont have to. one at a time arrested for other law violations (like rape, murder, drugs, DWI) can add up very quickly and send a message that lawlessness will not be tolerated. And our streets will eventually be safer. How good is that? By the way more people were murdered in 2006 than the enitire GWOT to this date. We need to start declaring war on violent crime too, Obama, even if it is a minority who committed that crime. No on is above the law.

jukin on March 15, 2008 at 11:29 PM

We are not a nation of immigrants. To immigrate means you join an already established society. The Pilgrims were not immigrants – they were colonists. Our fronteir tradition is more maverick than immigrating. And I am not an immigrant. Are you? Are you not a part of this nation? If you use, “well your great grandparents . . .” That would get us to well, some of us are descended from immigrants.

Besides, more accurately, we are a nation that sometimes has regulated immigration. We stopped nearly all immigration in 1924. Remember, Ellis Island is right next to the Statue of Liberty. A free for all borderless situation is not our tradition. Culturist selection of immigrants is.

Speakup on March 16, 2008 at 12:39 AM

Limbaugh says its not practical. But he is incorrect. I did the math on the effort and worked out a plan that can send them all out of the US for 1/10th of what we spend annually on the war on drugs.

But I also agree with the above poster who points out that draconian punishments for those who employ illegals will also work.

fred5678 on March 16, 2008 at 1:50 AM

Just an observation……

In the interest of full disclosure, I do support the idea that would should enforce the laws that we have on the books, in regards to Illegal Immigration. I also know the Lou Dobbs is Married to a Mexican-American Lady as well.

The problem with Lou Dobbs is this. When he talks about the Illegal Immigration issue. Instead of coming off as someone who’s concerned about this issue, he instead comes off sounding like a arrogant, Rich, White, prick.

Also, He claims to be a “populist”. This too, to me, is hypocritical. The man makes 5 Million a year. He’s filthy rich, how can he say he’s truly interested in the middle class, when he’s nowhere near the “Middle Class” money-wise?

Don’t get me wrong, I admire the guy for speaking out on a issue, that’s important to him, But I think Lou Dobbs is the wrong person to be doing it. Because most Mexicans look at him and think he’s a-hole. To me, he’s like the Bill O’ of CNN.

Just my opinion….

WayWard Fundamentalist Christian on March 16, 2008 at 3:32 AM

“Lou! Lou! Lou! Lou! Lou! Lou! Lou!”

(This is a chant, people. Join me.)

“Lou! Lou! Lou! Lou! Lou!” (etc.)

And please notice how calm, rational and non-hyperbolic he was in his countering of Obama’s position. Oh, sure, maybe he scowled a bit, but I sometimes think Lou came out of the womb scowling. But this was a beautiful response without theatrics to the massive Jedi mind trick that Obama-Wan Kenobi is perpetrating on the gullible across the land.

MB4 on March 15, 2008 at 9:46 PM

Well stated MB4… Everything else is just whip cream gobbed on top of the facts.

AZCoyote,

A treasured member of the CQ community.. Right on target as usual.

Obama had it going; had all pundits scared to death to probe any area of this man’s past, playing the race card to it’s fullest degree… Then the Reverend White issue came up; wow, the good Reverend blew the cover right off the “race card” with his long history of attacks against white people and against America. The good Reverend White made it fair game for everyone to dig into the real Obama; the Obama who now has a past that is no longer off limits. I esp. liked the statement the good Reverend made about Ms. Clinton “Hillary Clinton has never been called a n*****”. Talk about preaching hatred from the podium; wow… Then we have Michelle Obama preaching the same rhetoric from a podium at UCLA. Rookies, empty suits, racists… Tip of the iceberg here folks; now that the “cover of racism” issue has been removed, the gloves are off and the real man will continue to be exposed.

What’s up with Democrats and their spouses? Both Clinton and Obama must now get their spouses out of the public eye; hide them in some room hidden by a secret bookshelf. Neither of these two candidates can now afford to have their spouses in the public eye simply because they can’t afford to have their spouses reveal who they really are.

Keemo on March 16, 2008 at 9:09 AM

Wow, so Lou “dey tuk er jerbs” Dobbs is now a hero for the conservatives. Wow! As an immigrant, I think the debate on immigration is very skewed. There’s no question that a lot of it is pandering to the latino vote. Particularly on the Democrat side, but the Republicans aren’t much better. It takes an average Chinese graduate student more than 15 years to get a green card. Yet the debate is about how the cuntry could be more “welcoming” by legalizing the illegals in 5.

But nationalists and socialists are even a bigger problem. They do attack legal immigration no matter what they claim.

If you want a comprehensive approach to immigration, you must secure borders while at the same time increase legal immigration. If someone can demonstrate they have a job waiting for them in the US, they should be welcomed to the country.

freevillage on March 16, 2008 at 9:23 AM

When even ABC News starts reporting some factual information, you know the gloves have been removed…

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/03/just-what-did-o.html

freevillage,

Most of what you have stated above, I agree with (shock)… But I must say, insinuating that Dobbs is now a hero of Conservatives is a total disconnect from reality. Lou Dobbs does get it somewhat right on occasion; when he does, most of us give the man some credit for having done so. Some of us sit back in shock when this happens, but eventually give credit where credit is do. Nothing more than that…

Keemo on March 16, 2008 at 9:50 AM

A post above mentioned Lou appearing to slur a bit. Could it be he’s had to acquire dentures or perhaps caps on his teeth? That coupled with his newly found blonde hair points to having to keep up a youthful appearance.

I’m holding my breath hoping the major networks/cable continue with the pressure on all the candidates.

I doubt the U.S. will ever do enough to satisfy the rest of the world. I won’t ramble about all the things we currently do that goes unappreciated and ridiculed. I just know it’s been old for a long time and such critisisms fall on deaf ears as far as I am concerned.

As an American that has traveled abroad, I can appreciate one’s desire to come to the U.S. But it’s not a inherent right for the rest of the world’s citizens to exercise.

Nobody in AZ has ever thought deportation was the answer to our problem in this state. But, check out our Employer Sanctions law. This baby is working already, and it really hasn’t even started to be enforced yet. WE have school districts in metro Phoenix saying they can’t account for 700 or more students. I wonder where they went? To neighbor states with lax enforcement, or back to Mexico. Listen people, dry up the jobs, they will self deport. MAKES SENSE, STANDS TO REASON.
