Video: Fox unloads another batch o’ nuance from Jeremiah Wright

A mini-highlight reel via H&C; my favorite part is his Truther version of Pearl Harbor. Some of it’s leftist boilerplate (fighting for peace is like raping for virginity, blabbity blah) but other parts, like the full-bore moral equivalence between the U.S. and Al Qaeda … actually, I guess that’s pretty much leftist boilerplate too.

This must be the sort of thing Obama had in mind when he described the sermons as “kind of rough.” Or rather, that he would have had in mind had he ever heard Wright say anything like this. Which, of course, he never, ever did.

Update: Did he at least read the church bulletin?

The real audacity is thinking the American people will buy his story that he never sat through any of these sermons. He must really have a low opinion of the intellect of the average American.

TheBigOldDog on March 14, 2008 at 11:30 PM

I am sure that it was the talk of his church that his pastor was preaching right after 9/11 that the US brought it upon ourselves. He just had to know that. I can’t imagine anyone who was active in the congregation not knowing that.

Imagine…

Imagine if McCain went to Westboro Baptist Church and referred to Fred Phelps as his mentor and spiritual adviser. McCain would have a snowballs chance in heck of winning the election.

Geraldine Ferraro is right. Barack Obama is where he is due to political affirmative action.

TheBigOldDog on March 14, 2008 at 11:37 PM

St. Jeremiah was given something to say about those who declare ‘Thus says the LORD.’ It isn’t very nice, but it is true nonetheless. A namesake of the weeping prophet should take to heart such words.

And those who through their membership and financial offerings uphold a false prophet’s hands must share in his guilt before the Almighty.

satis est.

The scary thing for me, and AMERIKKKA, is that Obama might actually believe and feel these things to be true. But, he knows that he can’t “feel” this way if he wants to be president of God Damn AMERIKKA.

Hmmm. People should show up at Obama rallies with signs… Like God Damn America!!

I would wager that there are cadres of people from Hillary’s camp frame-by-framing through the oratory and checking the audience to see if they can find frames with Obama’s face in them.

Could be. I favor the notion that neither Sharpton nor Jackson want Obama to win. That would for all intents and purposes make them second fiddle activists with no party standing. I think they just can’t openly oppose Obama for fear of alienating their base. With the Clintons in power they maintain their positions both in the party and with their base.

Oldnuke on March 14, 2008 at 11:53 PM

tickleddragon on March 14, 2008 at 11:51 PM

He’s just a total, typical liberal bigot who’s whole interaction with blacks is limited to radical, aggrieved Michelle Obama type ivy leaguers. He takes that limited interaction and extrapolates from it that that’s the way all blacks are.

TheBigOldDog on March 14, 2008 at 11:54 PM

I get a bit annoyed at O’R trying to give the Dems the benefit of the doubt all the time. To say that he doesn’t think Obama believes what his pastor says is ludicrous. When I was in highschool(many many moons ago) I remember going to my girlfriend’s church for a few months. The pastor there was very insistent that if you weren’t Protestant you were headed for Hell, then dedicated a complete sermon to why his wife’s brother; a Catholic, was now in heaven after drowning attempting to save another person. His main reason centered around the verse “greater love has no man, than to lay down his life for another”. I remember thinking at the time if you believe that Catholics don’t make it because they are Catholic then I don’t think you can make exceptions just because he died trying to save someone else. In a later sermon he was basically advocating socialism in the church by suggesting that the members should tithe 100% of their income to the church and the church would redistribute the funds to the members as they saw fit. I understood then that I had sharply different views and that was the last time I went there. That was a decision made by a sixteen year old kid over 20 years ago. To say Obama went to his church more than twenty years, but doesn’t believe what was preached “really requires the willing suspension of disbelief”

mbrans on March 14, 2008 at 11:54 PM

BTW..this is precisely why we’re not ready for a black president in this country. We still have a section of the population that can’t pull themselves out of their victim mentality, and still see it as their opportunity to stick it to whitey.

When everybody else has to listen to whiney “whitey done us wrong” rhetoric, it ain’t gonna get a black man elected.

Give us an intelligent black man who distances himself from the “black/white” issue. Not one that embraces (in private) the preaching of a lefty racist loon. Maybe he’ll have a shot. I’ll definitely give him a shot if he’s also an unabashed conservative or neo-libertarian.

Oldnuke on March 14, 2008 at 11:53 PM

I think they would have been a lot less helpful (quite) if that were the case. They know how to sink him. All they have to do is speak up for him frequently. They know they are toxic outside the black community and they know Obama has to pretend to be “above race.” But, I could be wrong. He just gave me that feeling listening to him that night. He was very passive when O’Reilly asked him what he would do if Hillary stole the nomination from Obama, which is totally unlike him.

The odd thing about all this is that Obama was actually trying to keep race out of his campaign. Then his wife opened her mouth and this preacher surfaced. Of course your comment specified (in private) which has made all the difference. He was trying to hide his true colors. But then that’s what all liberals do because if what they really stand for becomes exposed it’s pretty absurd. Black white yellow what difference does color make. I want an American who will take America’s interests to heart and not someone who will blame America for all the world’s ills. I’d also like for him to be fully entrenched in the twenty first centruy and not trying to keep 200 year old transgressions alive.

Oldnuke on March 15, 2008 at 12:13 AM

This is the kind of stuff that drives some black Americans into the arms of the republican party. The anti slavery party. The party that never passed a Jim Crow law or a voting test. The party that was created to free people from 1854 to 2008 and beyond. The party who believes in every person’s intellect and ability to apply their minds and talents to improve society and provide for themselves and their families. It hasn’t been true in the past but with drive and determination you can compete with anyone in America today. We are the generation of Americans who can judge people by the content of their character. We are the real agents of change that Obama claims to be.

Odd how your political views change as your income and assets go up. Seems financial status can transcend ideological values. Especially when it’s your money someone wants to redistribute.

I think you gotta go with Hillary. The only danger would be if she put Obama on the ticket as VP so she could still get the blaxploitation vote….it wouldn’t lose her much because her negatives are pretty high nationwide already, and anybody who can’t stand her won’t be even more put off by Obama.

Clearly, he was listening.

Obama probably heard Wright quote a few passages from the Bible which quite amazingly does have beautiful imagery and religious symbolism. Maybe he was thought they were Wright’s own words and he was hooked:)

I see no difference between Wright and Farrakhan. No wonder they were falling all over themselves to lay an award at that hatemonger’s feet. Maybe he’ll return the favor, someday. Farrakhan’s blathering about people ‘coming together’ and ‘ironing out differences’, and ‘different denominations coming together’ etc. I’m betting it’s precisely this type of guy that Farrakhan wants to form alliances and leagues with, to make bigger, more powerful organizations with political aspirations.

coleporter on March 15, 2008 at 9:23 AM

This man is using the guise of religion to preach his own stupid theories and propaganda. Sometimes the Church, or any religious gathering is the right place to do this. We see this in the Muslim world all of the time. You take a group of people looking for answers to life’s complicated questions and you throw in some backwards views. He is trying to portray his group of people as the target of some vast WHITE conspiracy and and unite them together to either hate or fight back against his invisible enemy. I just hope his message isn’t perceived by most in the Black community as fact…but rather pointless rhetoric…

bentman78 on March 15, 2008 at 9:23 AM

The problem with Islam is often cited as being that is a complete political and religious system which lacks any authoritative interpreter. What is happening with many Christian churches is that they are trying to impose a political structure on Christianity which together with fractured interpretation of biblical texts leads cults similar to Islam without, fortunately, the jihad and the amputations.

Politicians who may or may not be religious must profess to being believers in some sect which is a necessary condition for being elected to national office. I do not know if Obama is any kind of true believer or if he just bought street cred in the black community by joining Wright’s cult. If he believed any of that diatribe we are now seeing he should immediately leave the scene, if not he should condemn the pastor and all his pomps and offer a credible explanation as to why he remained a member of that sect for 20 years.

Annar on March 15, 2008 at 10:29 AM

With this kind of democrat fascist-zealot crap exploding on everyone, we’ll never be able to reign in McCain to be more collegial to the conservative movement.

What did people think that “black supremacist” meant all along?

Who really is surprised?

The surprise prize is knowing how many stupid non-black supremacist voters align with the black supremacists, swallowing Obama’s “come together” HOPE FOR CHANGE to put the shoe of power on the carpetbaggers’ feet, dumb and dumber. Obama is CONSISTENT in that he wants to be king of the mountain and has said that he’s the only one who can bring these radical anti-American Jew-hating black panther saboteurs and Mid-Eastern mob population into power over white crackers.

To reflect a slice from Central Texas, walking the dog through the neighborhood, looking at signs REMAINING outside their front doors for “Obama” and “Change” — at least one of those is the local ISD employee, all are white. The day after the primary, another white neighbor posted a “Hillary” sign out front, across the street from the ISD neighbor’s “Obama” sign. Our black and hispanic neighbors have not posted any political signs. No one has posted a GOP sign, though our county has a strong GOP population. I have my “FRED” signs ready, LOL.

So how about y’all’s neighborhoods? There must HAVE BEEN an “Obama” sign dotting the terrain–do they remain today?

What superdelegate would remain with Obama now?

What ethnic American would vote for Obama now? …And by ethnic, I mean EVERYONE! If ever there were a time for change, it’s in the USA word “ethnic” NOW. Barack may have done America a great favor in spewing it all out where no one can dismiss his acidic tsunami. To whom it may concern:

♫ ♫♫♫♫ ♫
Yo’ got mud on yo’ face, Yo’ big disgrace,
Kickin’ yo’ can all over the place.
♫ ♫♫♫♫ ♫

All those, proud of their country, please rise.

Wright, Obama, etal, you may remain seated.

We really are enjoying Obama reap some of what he’s sown. It’s morning in America and mourning for the DNC. Hillary gets the nomination, Obama is disgraced, the black voters walk from the Dhimmicrat party, and McCain wins in November.

The only rough patch is that McCain is our guy instead of the Fred. *sigh* Maybe John will throw us a McBone for VP, any conservative will do.

Give us an intelligent black man who distances himself from the “black/white” issue.

Michael Steele Pres, Jesse Peterson VP and Bill Cosby Sec State.

Thomas Sowell, Fed Head; Larry Elder, Press Secretary.

Fear (by Libs) of a Black Planet, indeed.

I’d probably leave Cosby off the roster. He hasn’t quite made the cut yet on the hate whitey thing. Replace him with Ward Connley.

Here is what I’ve been wondering. How did this thing suddenly burst into public view? It can’t just be coincidence. where did the big buzz start? Had to be a Clinton thing, didn’t it? How did she do it?

When is freevillage going to appear to assure us all is well, like Kevin Bacon at the end of Animal House?

He’s busy right now. He’s over on the NATO thread protecting Russia’s interests.

Barak Obama is a black supremacist racist. No other conclusion can be justified.

Ooops. That would be Ward Connerly

Is it OK to say his middle name now?

Just checking.

If Mr. Wright actually believes what he says, he must be very unhappy. If he does not believe what he says, he must be very cynical. Either way, he doesn’t seem to let facts get in the way.

JeffersonSmith on March 15, 2008 at 3:49 PM

I would like Dr Wright to comment on the fact that 13% of the population who are African American are committing 50% of the violent crime in America. Maybe Barry would like to weigh in on that one too…

Nozzle on March 15, 2008 at 4:26 PM

The dems are just too much this year. They have a choice between a half-black racist or a woman married to the most notorious sexual predator in history.

Nozzle on March 15, 2008 at 4:30 PM

We murder millions of children in the womb..check..

we legalize perversion (adultery, fornication, sodomy)… check…

God bless America?? Doubtful

TOPV on March 15, 2008 at 6:23 PM

Update: Did he at least read the church bulletin?

Oh, so now we’re assuming a black man has to be able to read to have any value, are we?

America is raaaaaacist!

BKennedy on March 15, 2008 at 7:30 PM

Where are the WHITE members of Obama’s family? What is THIER reaction to this anti-white venom?

dm60462 on March 15, 2008 at 8:10 PM

Where can I get one of those star wars dashikis?

Sean68 on March 15, 2008 at 10:12 PM

Truth is, Obama chooses to sit under this moron’s tutaledge. That is all you need to know. This guy is NOT a Christian. He is a hate Whitey/America tool. If he even read the bible he would not be spewing the vitriol that he is. What a bag o’ crap!

sMack on March 15, 2008 at 10:30 PM

I had a friend call me whose family goes to Wright’s church. He insists Wright isn’t really like that.

Mhmm. Sure. This is all an editing trick, right?

Spin, spin, spin.
